Chapter 33: Fading Light

Anne and Sasha watched their home be completely surrounded in darkness as an eternal night. Sasha was terrified as her glowing body was one of the few sources of light.

Anne's body was a bright blue and she shook her head. "N...No...! Marcy...e-everyone...! I-"

Darcy's eyes then glowed brighter before? Replacing the sun or moon...was a GIANT glowing orange eye, which looked down upon the city, but it did not light up a single thing in the darkness.

Anne and Sasha stepped back, horrified before the portal FINALLY closed and The Dark Frobots started spreading all across the dark world.

Darcy then floated down, grinning wide as Anne and Sasha could ONLY see her eyes. "Now...I'LL BE TAKING YOUR POWERS."

Anne was frozen, still processing that this was MARCY. But Sasha grabbed Anne and then flew off in a pink blur, with Anne screaming out. "NO!!!!"

Darcy just cackled before flying over to her castle and into her throne room, which was dimply lit by orange light. She then sat down, smirking wide as holographic screens showed. She started typing and planning each invasion of every part of the world, including studying all the military's weapons of every country.

Nuclear warheads would be an issue. Good thing she had a plan for that.

She grinned, sitting back before pulling up plans on the rest of the multiverse or whatever they dubbed this string of dimensions she could travel too. Darcy cackled. "This will be entertaining..."

Sasha kept flying, with Anne screaming and crying before they crashed into a building since even Sasha felt weak. She swore under her breath before looking at Anne. "A-Are you okay...?"

Anne sobbed. "I-I COULDN'T DO A DAMN THING!!!" She bawled. "I COULDN'T SAVE HER!!! AND NOW SHE'S...SHE'S...!"

Sasha quickly hugged Anne, letting herself cry as well as their pink and blue lights combined into a purple brightness. Anne sobbed into Sasha's shoulder, clutching her back as she let out everything she had gone through into this. Sasha did the same, finally letting out of her emotional baggage into her crying.

The two cried for what felt like ever. They wanted to get back up and launch a final attack on Darcy...but they had given her all they had, and it wasn't enough. Sasha knew how to stop Darcy, but she couldn't speak at the moment.

Darcy couldn't conquer Earth in a matter of days. Humans WOULD fight back, even in this complete darkness. They had time.

Anne, after what felt like hours, finally stopped crying with her hair and eyes glowing blue. "...w-we HAVE to stop her...we have to save Marcy! We have to save everyone!"

Sasha nodded, getting up as she wiped her eyes. "O-Okay. Grime and the rebellion are inside the castle and trying to find a way to shut it down, unless they've already been captured." She then stepped forward. "Andrias told me how-"

Anne then flew off to the castle, not hearing what Sasha was saying.

Sasha's eyes widened and she flew after her, blocking Anne's way. Anne bumped into her. She sniffled before punching at her chest, but it didn't hurt.

"LET ME THROUGH!!!" Anne said with even more sobbing than before.

Sasha grabbed Anne's hands. "Anne! Anne, look at me! You can't stop her by just bashing in! Being angry isn't going to help you beat her!"

"I DON'T CARE!!!" Anne screamed. "I HAVE TO SAVE HER!!!"

"You think I don't want to save her either?!? I've only JUST realized Marcy was alive recently! But The Core is too powerful and either of us could actually DIE, and this entire world will be doomed!" Sasha exclaimed.

Anne took many shaking and deep breaths before looking at Sasha. "...then, what do we do?"

"Andrias said The Core has a weakness." Sasha said. "All three of us: You, me, and Macy can beat it. There's some kind of Prophecy."

Anne's eyes widened a bit. "...Three stars burning bright, come from beyond to expel The Night. Should they fight or choose to fall, their choice will determine all." She then blinked. "H-How do I know that...?"

Sasha chuckled nervously. "...we're apparently reincarnations of the original Three Stars, who I think are reincarnations themselves...of people who made stars for the universe-"

"WHAT?!?!"

Wow, way to put it lightly.

Sasha laughed. "I-I dunno how I know that last part! It just came to me! Shocking, right?"

"UHH, YEAH. I'M KINDA PROCESSING EVERYTHING ELSE." Anne said, holding her head as they floated down. She took a few minutes before looking at Sasha. "...okay...The Prophecy says we need all three of us. But, how are we gonna get Marcy back?"

Sasha tried to remember before it hit her. "Andrias said we need some kind of machine or device or whatever to get into The Core's hivemind. Marcy's apparently in some kind of fantasy land that's preventing her from fighting back against The Core. She's not even aware all of this is happening."

Anne clutched her fist. "O...Okay...I did just meet some people who helped you and Darcy get here, or at least had a part in it. Maybe they can help?"

"Once we find them." Sasha said. "We better act fast-"

Then? A bunch of Frobots with their glowing eyes flew down, aiming their glowing orange canons at Anne and Sasha and beginning to fire.

Anne and Sasha just barely started to dodge, shining brighter and brighter to briefly light up the street so they could actually see what they were fighting.

Sasha summoned two glowing pink hammers into her hand and then started smashing the Frobots into pieces. That's when a small vortex of pink fire came shooting out of her body and into the robots.

A small trio of Cloak Bots then came out, slashing and blasting at Anne. Anne dodged by flying and shooting out small blue energy bursts at them. One Cloak Bot was torn in half from it, while the other two just lunged at Anne again. Anne dodged the slash of their arms before slamming her fist right through one's chest, and then smashing another one's head into bits.

The two breathed heavily before seeing orange energy crackling from the robots. And that's when small spider like bots came from them...and began to quickly put the robots back together.

"Nano tech." Anne breathed, remembering Marcy's theories and hopes for such a thing.

Sasha turned. "Huh?!"

"Basically things that make anything!" Anne said before flying into the air. "We gotta go!"

Sasha followed Anne just as the Frobots were repaired. The Frobots watched them fly off before signaling their master and continuing to fly around.

Mrs. Boonchuy shined a flashlight around the dark town, with Mr. Boonchuy doing the same. They called out Anne's name once, but alerted the robots. They hid, with The Plantars following.

"They all look like Frobo...!" Polly whispered.

Sprig then looked around. "But where's Anne?"

"And what's with the glowing orange eye in the sky?" Mr. Boonchuy asked with a shiver.

Then? The pink and blue light returned and Anne came zooming down. "GUYS!"

"ANNE!!!" The Plantars and The Boonchuys exclaimed.

But that alerted The Frobots and they flew over, quickly starting to blast. Anne gasped and dodged or even took the hit for her family. Sasha then summoned her hammers again, smashing the Frobots attacking.

"Sasha?" Mrs. Boonchuy breathed.

Sasha got in front of them and then turned her hammers into her swords the moment a Tanker Bot came crashing it. Its orange eyes glowed bright before it shot a pair of missiles at them. The Plantars, Anne, and The Boonchuys screamed before Sasha zoomed in and sliced the missiles in half, causing them to explode.

She then zoomed towards The Tanker Bot, stabbing it both of its eyes. The Tanker Bot stumbled backwards before firing out Tadpole Bots, which attacked Sasha. Sasha just SCREAMED, unleashing a pink shockwave before going back to the others.

"That won't hold it for long! We gotta go!" Sasha said as they all retreated into the darkness, with Anne and Sasha being their source of light.

The spiders from earlier started crawling around The Tanker Bot's eyes, repairing them in seconds. The Tanker Bot then looked around before stomping away.

This wasn't going to be easy.
