Chapter 30: Cloaker's History
It had been a few days ever since Cloaker's attempt to kill Anne. And Anne, well, was kind of a wreck. She didn't feel very safe, and she wasn't aware how to even use her powers. She didn't WANT to leave the house.
Add that with the trauma she had of watching her best friend and crush get stabbed right in front of her, and she's all set.
The Boonchuys and The Plantars were obviously very worried about her. They were also incredibly on guard in case Cloaker tried to attack again.
Polly sighed, still holding Frobo's head. "If you were still here, you could've helped us...I'm sorry we didn't help you..."
Mr. Boonchuy then came out. "Well. Anne's fallen asleep." He sighed. "But, she's doing...a little better."
"We should try and get her into therapy." Mrs. Boonchuy suggested before sighing. "That will be difficult because no one else can know about these killer robots and frog people."
Hop Pop's eyes softened. "Is there anything we can do to help you?"
"You already are. Just by being there for her." Mr. Boonchuy said. "Get some rest. Tomorrow's another day."
They nodded and headed to a guest room, while Sprig just sighed. He was still somewhat injured from that blast, but he felt like he could've done more.
If Anne still had her powers, then she could've destroyed Cloaker. If THEY had powers, then they could've done something. Now, the Boonchuys had to worry about not only their traumatized daughter, but finding a way to get them back to Amphibia so they could save it AND Earth.
And they hadn't even REALIZED the last part yet.
Sprig kept trying to think as his sister and grandfather fell asleep. There had to be something. Anything.
Wait...this was HEART's world. And the world where the Calamity Box was. There had to be something. Sprig then snuck out of bed and into Anne's room.
Anne snored softly, cuddled up in a yellow blanket. She seemed to be having...a nightmare. She whimpered, clutching the blanket. "N...No..."
Sprig gasped softly and hopped over. Not knowing what to do, he gently shook her. "A-Anne?"
Anne's eyes snapped open and she shot up, breathing heavily. She then took a giant sigh of relief. "O-Oh, thank g-god...just...a n-nightmare-"
Then? Sprig hugged her, not saying another word. Anne looked down and then hugged back, holding Sprig close with a small sniffle.
"...t-thanks." Anne whispered.
Sprig smiled. "Spranne against the world."
After comforting and tucking her in, Anne went back to sleep. Sprig sighed before grabbing Anne's computer and then looking up something that would give him information about Earth's history.
The museum. He remembered that creepy wax guy owned something like that.
Sprig then looked up where the most near one was and then hummed. He then looked at Anne and sighed. "I'm gonna do something. I have too...but now a disguise."
Even though the museum was closed, he was desperate. So, he got a disguise to go along with it. A blue and green outfit with a hood and goggles over his outfit, and a yellow scarf over his mouth so no one could tell he was a frog.
He then headed out, grabbing some supplies (or things he thought were weapons) and ran off into the night.
Unaware glowing and robotic orange eyes were watching him. Cloaker hummed before seeing someone follow Sprig. He grinned. "Awww, how cute. Time to MURDER a child."
At the museum, Sprig snuck in and started looking around. He saw flashlights and hid behind a giant dinosaur skeleton exhibit. Looks like this place had security. But that didn't stop Sprig before.
Sprig then snuck around the security, still looking around for ANYTHING to help him in his journey to find something to help them. Either about Heart, the other Stars, or the Calamity Box.
However. That's when he found...a vase. A vase of some kind of alien creature giving humanity...a box. A music box. And the alien looked like...a frog.
"Haha! Yes!" Sprig cried, reaching for it before...the lights switched on. He gulped before turning around.
But instead of security...Cloaker crawled across the ceiling before hopping down. He seemed to be searching for someone, but found Sprig instead. "Hmm, looks like she DID follow you."
Sprig gasped. "You again?!"
Cloaker then turned his hand into a canon and started firing lasers at the young frog.
Sprig flipped high into the air, just barely dodging the laser. He then landed and once again used his tongue to swing across the museum almost like some kind...of Spider Sprig.
Cloaker grinned before turning to the fallen bodies of the security guards. He grinned before following Sprig. He hopped onto the wall as Sprig swill swung and he began blasting his laser eyes.
Sprig dodged and dodged as best he could before he landed. He then saw a sword and grabbed it. "HA!"
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to AXE you to leave!" Cloaker laughed, turning his arm into a giant double bladed axe and hopping down in front of Sprig.
Sprig blinked. "...that pun sucked."
Cloaker sighed. "Yeah, it didn't feel good. But I saw it and just...took it."
"Hey, if you see an opportunity, you gotta take it sometimes!" Sprig said.
Cloaker nodded. "True, true. What we were doing again?"
"Uhhh, I think a fight to the death?"
"Oh, yeah!" Cloaker said before he swung his axe, clashing against Sprig's sword.
Sprig growled before he broke their clash and then ducked a swing from the axe and then slashed at Cloaker's leg...only for the sword to break on impact.
Cloaker grinned before swinging his axe again, with Sprig back flipping onto a pedestal to dodge it. Cloaker then turned his axe hand into a DRILL, launching it at him.
Sprig gasped and then hopped off, dodging the drill and causing it to be stuck...under a guillotine.
Cloaker pulled at his arm, but it was hopeless.
Sprig laughed and was about to run before remembering the wise words of his grandfather...
'DANG IT, BOY!'
No, not that one. This one.
'EAT THE RICH!'
...eh, it works.
Sprig then climbed onto the guillotine, ready to use it as he looked at Cloaker.
Cloaker's eyes widened. "Uh oh."
"I'll do it!" Sprig exclaimed, having an evil glare in his eyes. "Don't test me!"
Cloaker kept pulling and pulling before Sprig let go of the rope, causing the blade of the guillotine to come crashing down. As a result, chopping off Cloaker's arm. Cloaker then laughed. "I took out my pain receptors! Now-"
"Update installed." His systems said.
Cloaker blinked before SCREAMING in pain, holding his sparking and now broken arm. Sprig quickly ran off before seeing Cloaker begin to chase him. He cried out, but then?
Anne came crashing in, wielding a mace and smashing Cloaker's eye again.
Cloaker screamed, stumbling backwards before being hit by the mace again. Anne screamed in rage, still swinging the mace at Cloaker over and over and over again.
Anne raised the mace again before being blasted next to Sprig.
Cloaker growled before suddenly, someone came in.
"What the?!" A woman's voice cried. Cloaker whipped around and saw a dark skinned woman with black hair and a yellow shirt with dinosaur bones all across it. She also had a key card.
She was the museum's curator.
Cloaker panicked, not wanting to be seen before he fired rockets from his feet and took off through the glass ceiling, flying away.
Sprig rushed to Anne. "ANNE! Are you okay?!"
Anne grunted, holding her chest. "Y...Yup...what were you thinking, dude?! You could've been seen!"
"Well, everything was going pretty smoothly until Cloaker showed up." Sprig said.
Anne then blinked and facepalmed. "I'm such a moron...! He's after me, so when I went after you, he followed!"
But then, the curator stepped forward over to Anne...and suddenly helped her up. "Are you kids okay?"
Anne seemed surprised. "I...yeah, we are."
The curator sighed in relief before looking at Sprig. "Considering you...don't have the exact...facial structure of a human being...please explain. I won't tell a soul...considering the giant murder robot just crashed in and I'm trying not to geek out."
"Wait, geek out?"
"HELLO? It's a killer robot! That is amazing!"
After THAT explanation, the curator AKA Dr. Jan...began to squeal. "Interdimensional travel! History of humans and other worlds! I knew it!!!"
Anne blinked. "That is...not the reaction I was expecting."
Dr. Jan laughed. "I'll do whatever I can!"
Sprig smiled before humming. "Well, I did see a vase! It looks like it's from my world! I was, uhh, gonna try to take it."
"Well, I can't let you take it. It's museum property...buuut, I think I can study it and see if I can give you anything." Dr. Jan then smiled. "This is a big deal. I'll help you find a way to get a portal back to this Amphibia."
Sprig and Anne cheered, high fiving.
...little did they know. They wouldn't need to have to worry about getting back to Amphibia. Amphibia was coming to THEM.
