Chapter 25: Shadows Can't Bleed

The whole world. Universe even, shattered into thousands of pieces the moment Marcy's cold and dead body hit the floor. Anne was destroyed, her ears ringing and her body going numb. Everything she loved and knew about Marcy...destroyed in an instant.

Marcy was gone. Marcy was killed. Marcy was dead.

The Core's arms dispersed the blade and suddenly grabbed Sasha, tossing her out the broken window, not even caring that they had just murdered someone a few seconds before.

"SASHA!!!" Grime screamed, jumping out the window to save her.

Andrias grinned at that before snapping his fingers, taking Olivia and Yunan away, with Yunan slowly losing consciousness.

Olivia was SCREAMING her head off. "MARCY!!! MARCY!!!! MARCY!!!!"

Andrias put his sword away and stomped over to Anne. And Anne? She was broken.

She began screaming and crying, crawling over to Marcy's body and cradling it. Tears streamed down her face as she sobbed. She rocked back and forth, forgetting about everything in the universe except for Marcy. She even forgot herself for a minute. All she cared about was Marcy.

Anne looked up into the air, screaming at the top of her lungs as her body writhed in agony and pain. It was so much emotion...that her hair and eyes turned BLUE.

Andrias' eyes widened. "She's still connected to the Blue Gem...! But that's-"

The Core slowly crawled in, his eyes glowing a bright orange as it loomed over Andrias.

Andrias was silent before he smirked and ignited his sword and lifted it above Anne. "GOODBYE, ANNE BOONCHUY..."

Anne's eyes glowed brighter, her eyes turning completely blue with white pupils. She then zoomed over to Andrias, punching him across the face and sending The Newt King flying across the Throne Room.

The Dark Frobots started firing their canons and hit her, but Anne's power prevented them from doing anything. She charged at The Dark Frobots, zooming through them and slicing 10 of them in half just with her bare hands.

She then snapped towards The Core. Flashbacks of the mechanical arm stabbing Marcy through the chest replayed in her mind. Feeling even more agony, Anne SHRIEKED before charging at The Core.

The Core's eyes glowed before he simply reached a mechanical arm, grabbing Anne's head and throwing her into the portal that was created by The Calamity Box. The portal closed the moment she went through, and the Calamity Box shut.

Andrias forced himself to get up before bowing. "My lord...the box is yours."

The Core turned to the Calamity Box and grabbed it, setting it back on the pedestal. He then looked at Andrias. "...SEND BOTS AFTER STRENGTH. I SENSE SHE LIVES..."

Andrias nodded and left the room.

The Core then grabbed Marcy's cold and dead body. He cackled. "I WANTED YOUR LOVE TO DIE...BUT? I CAN MAKE USE OF THIS."

Meanwhile...

Anne fell through the portal and onto grass. Her blue hair and eyes left her, returning her to normal. She forced herself to get up before hearing The Plantars.

"ANNE!!!" Sprig screamed, hopping over and hugging his best friend tightly.

Hop Pop and Polly joined the hug shortly. And not even Polly was surprised to hear Anne begin to cry her eyes out, hugging them all back.

She couldn't stop crying. Her heart was shattered beyond repair. The girl she loved, the girl she had known since Kindergarten and one of her only friends had been stabbed through the chest. There was so many things she wanted to do, wanted to say, and now every moment they were together before this?

Anne felt like she had to cherish them. Or that she shouldn't have taken all those moments for granted. She didn't care if Marcy made her mad with how many times she got distracted or ruined her weekends by being in danger. She loved Marcy, and now? She was never going to see her again. She would never be able to look at their memories the same way ever again.

She remembered what happened so vividly. Marcy shoving her out of the way...and dying for her.

Anne never even got to tell her she loved her. It may have been obvious, but it was never official unless they told each other 'I love you'.

She was warned of this, wasn't she? In her dreams, she saw a demon choking a girl in pink. The demon had Marcy's gem and glowing orange eyes. It was The Night. The Night took Marcy away from her, and she didn't stop it.

Anne finally spoke to The Plantars. "...I-I wanna go h-h-home..."

Hop Pop looked around, seeing they weren't in Amphibia anymore. In fact? They were on Earth. He nodded. "We're back home, Anne...we're back home...where is your house?"

Anne sniffled, just giving Hop Pop her phone. She felt like it hurt her to speak.

Sprig helped his grandfather operate the phone, since Anne had taught him how to use it. He looked through photos, finding Anne's home.

They started walking after that.

After a lot of hiding and long walking, they came across The Boonchuy Household. Along the way to the neighborhood, they noticed MANY missing posters and fliers. All of them for Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, and Marcy Wu.

Polly's heart broke and she held Frobo's head. "...I-I'm so sorry, Frobo." She whispered, trying to be strong since Anne was already broken.

Sprig felt like he should've given Marcy as much respect as possible. Because now, he would never be able too.

Anne looked at the door and wiped her eyes. Her armor felt heavier as she walked onto the porch. She felt terrified almost, now that The Plantars had to hide. She then knocked on the door.

That's when a much older woman answered the door. She looked exactly like Anne, just much older. She wore a blue sweater and white pants, and overall? Looked miserable.

"I appreciate all the concern, but-" Mrs. Boonchuy's eyes then widened when she saw who was at the door. She felt like she was dreaming for a minute.

Anne slowly looked up at her mother and her eyes began to water. This actually made her glad, but she began crying again. "H-Hi, Mom..." She breathed, wanting to fall into her mother's arms again after all she had been through. She was so tired of being strong at the moment.

Mrs. Boonchuy dropped the bowl she was holding, her eyes watering. She hugged Anne tightly, beginning to cry softly as she held her daughter close. She stroked her hair, hearing Anne begin to cry with her. "Lūk k̄hxng c̄hạn! C̄hạn khid ẁā khuṇ h̄āy pị tlxd kāl!" She sobbed.

Anne just cried harder, clutching her mother's back as she buried her face into her shoulder. She felt like a little girl again, seeking her mother for comfort whenever she was scared.

Then? Anne's father, Mr. Boonchuy peeked out. "Honey? Is everything-" His eyes then went as wide when he saw his daughter in his wife's arms. "...ANNE!" He cried, quickly joining the hug.

The Plantars watched the family reunion from below the porch. They wanted to show themselves, but they needed a moment of their own.

Hop Pop held both of his grandchildren close. Polly finally began to cry, cradling Frobo's head. Sprig hugged his little sister, his own eyes teary.

At least things couldn't get any worse...they hoped. We all know it can get so much worse. Andrias and The Core now planned to invade the entire multiverse with their darkness...and Anne?

Anne was broken. And who knows what will fix her?

Meanwhile...

The Core watched Marcy's body float in the tank he had prepared just for her. He looked at the screen, showing that the fatal wound he had inflicted on her...was now healed.

Andrias smirked. "Our medical technology can truly conquer death. As we had done the same for you, my lord."

The Core turned to Andrias. "You know what to do...do not give Heart a moment to breathe."

Andrias nodded before he snapped his fingers. And then? In the Throne Room? A special robot hopped down from the shadows.

It was like any regular Frobot, but it was made out of dark blue and green steel. When Amphibia was still the technological empire it was? They made special robots in Heart's honor. This was one of them. It had lanky arms, skinny legs, and glowing orange eyes.

The robot smirked. "My dark masters...what do you command?"

Andrias smirked. "Cloaker. You will travel to Earth and kill Anne Boonchuy. With her connection to the Blue Gem, she must die. The Prophecy CANNOT be completed."

Cloaker cackled. "Consider it done, your highness." He said before Andrias opened a portal. Cloaker quickly went through it.

The Core then turned to Andrias. "LEAVE ME..."

Andrias obeyed and left the room again.

The Core then turned to Marcy, smirking. "To think...it is almost destiny for me to kill you. With my creator...to Wit...and to YOU. All who carry this power of yours shall die at my hand...and like my creator? YOU WILL PROVE USEFUL LIKE SHE DID..."
