Chapter 23: Saga of Sasha

Sasha then turned around to see Grime walking over...with The Plantars, Frobo, Marcy...and Anne.

Anne narrowed her eyes. "Sasha..."

Sasha's heart broke before she took a deep breath. "A-Anne, I-"

"Why did you help us?" Anne suddenly asked. "You said you wanted to stay here and you fought me! With that giant hammer!"

Grime stood beside Sasha, now more as emotional support. Sasha took another deep breath before nodding. "...yeah. I'm a horrible person."

"OH, DON'T EVEN- Wait, what?" Anne asked, blinking.

Sprig grabbed his slingshot, aiming it at Sasha. "Give us one reason why we should trust you!"

"You don't have too." Sasha said before walking over and handing out the Pink Gem. "I...I was being SO stupid. Look, I like it here! I'm a QUEEN for crying out loud, but...but I tried to kill an old man who was just talking to me for being a bad friend!"

Hop Pop's eyes...suddenly softened a bit. He didn't want to trust her, but...he had a feeling she wasn't lying.

"I'm obsessed with control." Sasha said. "I shouldn't have made you do all those things on your BIRTHDAY, Anne! I've even made Marcy do things she doesn't wanna do all because I want control of something in my life! That's...that's not how a good friend should act..."

Marcy was...a little shocked. She hadn't seen Sasha be this sincere in a long time.

"My parents divorced, and I took out my anger and depression on all of you." Sasha sighed. "That's a horrible excuse. In fact? There is NO excuse for what I did! I don't even blame you if you don't want to be my friend anymore."

Anne slowly stepped forward. "S...Sasha, I...I don't NOT wanna be your friend. I mean, you got me through some tough times! And you gave me some confidence! But...what you did back there was wrong."

"I know. I know...I'll NEVER do it again." Sasha then carefully placed The Pink Gem into the Calamity Box. "Here."

Marcy smiled a bit. "We're glad you're at least in the right head, Sasha. Giving up your power and risking your life...for us."

Sasha smiled. "I'd do it again if I had too...I missed you, Marcy. I'd hug you right now, but I'm not sure how you feel about me."

Anne and Marcy looked at each other before turning to Sasha. Anne sighed. "...you're serious? You...you really won't try to do any of that stuff again? Even after we get back home?"

Sasha nodded. "I promise. I meant EVERY word...and if your frog family will even accept my apology, then I'll be lucky."

Polly seemed a bit hesitant as well, and Sprig was still VERY untrusting of her. But Hop Pop? He stepped forward.

"You're saying you acted like this because you lost someone who meant a lot to ya?" Hop Pop asked. "Your parents?"

Sasha nodded. "Y...Yeah...my mom did something bad after a lot of shouting, and then everything went downhill. I...I'm so sorry for what I tried to do to you-"

"I get it." Hop Pop said. "My folks once told me that anger can blind ANYONE. My grandparents told them that. And I told my children that. And I know for a fact that they told Polly and Sprig that." He looked up at her. "It wasn't right of ya, Sasha. But...you're not lying. An old frog like me can see that."

Sasha's eyes softened. "Are...you...forgiving me? Even after all I did?"

Hop Pop suddenly...nodded. "You may be a queen, but you're still a child. Someone who just doesn't know any better. More fighting is not going to help that. You've earned my forgiveness, but you still gotta make things right."

Sasha couldn't help but smile a bit and she nodded. "I will."

Anne looked at Hop Pop before sighing. "Oh, he's right. C'mere."

Marcy was the first to hug Sasha, and Anne joined later on. Sasha felt tears prick her eyes before she hugged back, smiling softly.

Grime smiled softly at the sight...but he also now had an urge to go to the human world and teach her 'parents' a lesson.

Sprig just stared at Sasha, clutching his fist a bit. He wanted to believe her, because Marcy was far from a threat after she saved his life... but Sasha? She had manipulated Anne, but now she was regretting it.

...bad guys didn't regret their actions. Right? They take a THRILL in them. Some bad guys were forced to be bad, but Sasha...looked like she was trying to make things right.

That same night, The Plantars decided to throw a small celebration in Wartwood. The Calamity Box was fully charged, which would mean? Anne was going home. The following day would be her last day in Amphibia.

News of this got out, and the entirety of Wartwood threw a big celebration. All in Anne's honor. For her defending the town and befriending everyone there.

Music played through the town, and everyone just drank, talked, or said their goodbyes to Anne. Or were introduced to Marcy.

Sasha stayed out of it though, mostly enjoying her time or doing things for Anne or Marcy. Grime eventually walked over. "My Queen." He said playfully.

She laughed. "Grimesy, I'm not gonna be the queen for very long."

"I'm aware." Grime said, hopping up before sighing. "This may be the last night we ever see you...this may be the last night I ever see you."

Sasha gasped. "You going soft on me?"

"For once? I am." Grime chuckled.

Sasha giggled before sighing. "Well, maybe if the King finds a way to keep making portals to Amphibia, I'll be able to visit! Promise to watch over the Toads as King while I'm gone?"

Grime chuckled. "I can't guarantee that will-"

"No, go on. Lift the hammer." Sasha said.

Grime blinked. "You're serious?"

Sasha nodded.

Grime looked at Strength's Warhammer and took a deep breath. He walked over and slowly...lifted it into the air. He was wide eyed before beginning to laugh hysterically.

Sasha just nodded, watching Grime run along with the hammer. She then noticed someone hopping over. Sprig.

Sprig was silent before sitting next to her.

Sasha patted her sides awkwardly, expecting to get hit or something.

Sprig sighed. "This is incredibly awkward."

"Yeah." Sasha said. "Look, I know you don't believe me. But I really am sorry. And if I ever screw up again? Then, throw mud or molten rock at me as much as you want with that slingshot.

Sprig turned to her. "I...I wanna believe you. But, I'm just worried you'll hurt Anne again. She's my best friend. Heart armor or not."

Sasha recalled what Not-Strength told her about them being reincarnations, but she figured that was a story for another time. "I promise that I won't hurt Anne. EVER again."

Sprig sighed before holding out his hand for a handshake. "You swear it?"

Sasha shook it quickly. "I swear."

Sprig blinked. "Wow...NO hesitation. You really are serious."

Sasha chuckled. "Told ya, little pink frog."

Sprig laughed a bit before standing. "Well, this is your last night here. I'm sure Anne will want ya to have some fun!"

"True...hey, are Marcy and Anne dancing together?"

"Oh, yeah! They like-like each other."

"I FRIGGIN' KNEW IT."

Meanwhile...

Andrias looked out the window of his room before hearing a voice and walking out of it. He walked down to an all too familar room.

There was a glowing green test tube standing right in front of him with an ancient language on the plating. Andrias sighed before hearing a robotic hiss.

"My lord," Andrias said with a quick bow. "is there anything I can do to serve you?"

That's when IT crawled in. Some kind of robotic monster with six mechanical arms and nine glowing orange eyes. It had no mouth or body except for this orb of eyes. It was connected to wires that hung right above its head, all of them glowing orange as if they were pumping energy into the creature.

The creature was silent before suddenly reaching for Andrias.

Andrias was grabbed by the head and lifted closer towards the center eye of the monster. The King of Amphibia looked horrified, but then went silent as the eyes glowed brighter. "T...They've done it?"

The creature set him down, its eyes glowing brighter than ever.

"The Calamity Box is completely recharged." Andrias said. "It is almost time...don't worry, my lord. Everything will go according to plan."

The creature gave Andrias a glare, stepping closer.

"My Core, I promise you." Andrias said. "This world WILL be yours again. The Three Stars will not be able to kill you again."

The Core nodded before beginning to walk off.

Andrias' eyes then softened when he looked at the test tube. "...my lord?"

The Core stopped and turned to Andrias, not seeming to be in the mood to talk anymore than it had too.

"...must it be Marcy?" Andrias asked. "I understand she is Wit deep down, but why not choose Heart or Strength?"

The Core hissed, stomping over Andrias and looming above him.

Andrias stepped back. "I-I do not mean to question your choices, my lord! I am just wondering...out of all of them...why her?"

The Core was silent before speaking with a metallic and raspy voice. "I killed Wit centuries ago...yet her power was greater than she ever realized. I want her to STAY dead."

Andrias was HORRIFIED by his master's voice, and he took a few more steps back.

The Core cackled, his voice cruel and SICK. As if he was suffering deep down. "I used my power and strength to conquer this world...but that ended in my downfall. With the intelligence I already have inside of my brain...I will be able to finally cover this entire multiverse in darkness. It is my purpose...Marcy has the intelligence BEYOND Earth's humans, and she doesn't even realize it. The brain of a GODDESS and warrior. Both of which I have killed..."

He then turned to Andrias, his eyes glowing a bright orange. "I will have a body far superior than my original...and SHE will suffer a fate worse than death can bring her..."
