~***~

It was just after my hours were finished and I was tired from work that same day. Instead, I picked up a cappuccino without James and Bree breathing down my neck. They already rode the bus and went home, equally exhausted as me.

"Hey, Y/N."

I clicked from my thoughts and looked up at the flushing eye patched boy and smiled.

"What's up?"

He paused before mumbling, "Umm... Are you doing anything after this...?" and he offered my coffee.

"Hmm... Nope. I was going to go straight home and maybe get started on my studies but really, I don't think I have the energy to do so anymore!" I laughed where Kaneki smiled.

"Well, in that case... you wanna rest at my place?"

The heat rose to my cheeks and without any hesitation I nodded in approval. "Sure, I'll go!! I-I mean, if you insist."

He chuckled creating my heart to melt from his cuteness.

"My curfew will be over in five minutes," he said, arranging the chairs and tables aside. I immediately lend him a hand. "You don't mind waiting, right?"

"Not at all!" I chirped and he laughed, again. "By the way, what happened to Touka?"

He gave the chair one more push, finishing the job. "She's usually up in her room doing something productive."

My eyes widened, and I looked up at the ceiling. "I didn't know her place is upstairs in Anteiku."

"Sure." Kaneki removed his tie, loosened his white shirt, and I offered him his hoodie where he gratefully tugs on. "There's many rooms up there but only for guest and staff. Anyways, shall we go?"

I smiled. "Mm-hm."

He opened the door for me and locked it behind us. I shivered feeling a gust of wind whipping past my hair.

"Damn this weather," I muttered. "It's freezing."
I was only wearing a F/C long-sleeved top that time with my jacket that I wore the previous day which somehow didn't keep me warm this time.

"Kaneki?" I asked, giving him a pouty face.

He sighed, rolling his eyes.
"Come over here," he said, reaching an arm out.

I internally squealed to myself and bear-hugged the eye patched boy where he pats my head.
"Yeah, yeah," he smirked to himself. "I know I'm the greatest."

"You sure are!" I gleamed.

He wrapped his one arm around my waist and hugged me closer. I could feel his warm steady breaths at the top of my head and I suddenly snuggled in without perceiving if this was reality or not.
He leads the way and we matched our tracks together, enjoying each other's company.

We're just friends, right? I asked myself. This does not look like we're a 'thing,' is it? I mean, that would be nice-- No no! Kaneki's not ready to date! Neither am I! Aahh!!

I shake the thoughts out of my head and discovered I recognize the street before. It was the same street I always take to Grandma's apartment.

"Kaneki, this is where you live?" I gasped in disbelief as we crossed the road.

"Well, sure." He smiled. "I sometimes see you walk this way all the time."

"That explains why you dropped me off in my Grandma's apartment," I thought out loud.

"Not exactly," he muttered. "You told me where you live, remember?"

"I did?" I exclaimed. "I don't remember telling you that!"

"Well, probably because you're so absent-minded all the time."

It was true. Even James and Bree noticed ever since we became good friends.

"I am not!!" I retorted back as we entered Kaneki's building and soon the elevator. "I'm absolutely capable of remembering things during the day--"

"Here we go, again."

"--and I have never forgotten an important event," I stated, and Kaneki opened his apartment door. "Listen, Kaneki. I--"

He immediately slammed the door behind us and I shut-up when he locked it.

"Why'd you slam it so hard?!" I exclaimed.

"God. It didn't work," he said, attempting to open the door, again. However, I stopped him from doing so when I ran to his couch, grabbed a pillow and held it in front of my mouth, shielding the sound from escaping once more.

"You promise to behave?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

I nodded, and Kaneki sighed in relief. He walked towards me and gestured me to sit with him on the couch. I do as told, hugging the pillow close.

"In that case, wanna do something else?" he asked.

Something else...

I flushed and withhold my blushing face with the pillow.
"We can watch T.V," I mumbled which Kaneki caught on.

"Sure," he responded and grabbed the remote.

It was silent for a moment, as the sounds of Kaneki clicking through several channels until he found a random [insert; prefered type of genre] movie we could watch. I peeked from behind my shield.

"K-Kaneki?"

"Yeah?" He lowered the volume.

I revealed myself from under the pillow and scooched closer towards him. I swiftly removed his eyepatch causing me to smile when I perceived two of his handsome dark eyes gazing back at me. He flushed.

"Y/N. Stop."

"What for? You look handsome like this, anyway," I blurted where I instantly turned bright red, realizing what I just said.

"You... really think so?" he sheepishly asked me, blush visible on his toned cheeks.

I scratched my face and slowly glanced down, nodding in approval. I could tell he grinned after that.

"Y/N... Thanks," Kaneki muttered, where I perceive his hair turning that beautiful creamy white, again.
His innocence was fading away where I knew I awakened that other side of Kaneki. That aggressive side I've longed for.

"For what?" I blinked, my large, E/C (Your eye colour) eyes catching his smiling, dark ones.

"For everything... Up until now," his voice was suductively low.

I grinned. "I should be the one thanking you."

"Hm? Why?" He leaned in, smirking.

"Because, I..." I froze and closed my eyes, slightly embarrassed tears forming from frustration. I just couldn't say it.

That's when Kaneki's hand touched the top of my hair, resting his forehead against mine.

"It's okay..." he whispered with closed eyes. "You don't have to tell me because... I already know."

You do? I wanted to ask but couldn't bring myself to say when I immediately felt something warm across my mouth.
My eyes widened and the tears I had once before became absolute happiness.

I kissed him back and his lips moved against mine very slowly. I caught him licking the inside of my bottom lip that I tasted him and kissed him, again. We slowly parted away where his lips traveled across my cheek, holding it there and release.

It became awkwardly silent for a moment and I turned away, touching my fingers to my lips overwhelmed from what I've witnessed.

He kissed me. He kissed me. I silently repeated to myself. He kissed me. He loves me. I love him.

I side-glanced Kaneki who withholds any eye contact whatsoever as he kept his attention towards the T.V in complete silence and awkwardness.

From his looks, I could understand he was very nervous and tense that we kissed. It was a moment to remember that's for sure, and because of it, I then realize my feelings deep in my heart was evolving into a shining, cheerful star. I smiled ever so bright and understood what was going on.

Kaneki Ken. After so many years, I've found you. I knew you were it from the moment we laid our eyes in Anteiku. You're my real creator of my stars.

He instantly turned the T.V off, standing up.
I perked my head in alarm and watched him escape the living room and into another room.

After a few minutes he walked back wearing a t-shirt and comfy bottoms, carrying a thick, giant blanket in his arms.

Kaneki dimmed the lights and positioned himself beside me, throwing the blanket over our heads.
Understanding his actions, I cuddled my body under the blanket against his warmth and sighed. He cuddled me back, his lips gently stroking behind my ear, kissing me one more time. I felt his hands touch me in places I wasn't aware of making me a blushing mess.

I removed his hands from me and turned away without giving a thought of a slightly offended Kaneki observing my every action.

"Sorry..." I muttered under my breath. "I... I can't." I placed both hands on my burning cheeks and bit my lip.

"Hey," He ran his fingers through my H/L hair. "I promise, whatever it is I'm here for you. I'll always listen, Y/N, and I understand if you're not ready for it yet."

I gave him a side-glance. "I know. Thank-you, Kaneki."
I leaned back in Kaneki's chest and he hugged me from behind.

It was silent for a few moments and soon my eyes began to feel heavy. I closed my eyes for a brief five seconds, then open where I glanced at a snoring Kaneki.
He looked so adorable that I couldn't help it but peck his cheek.

After texting Grandma I'm staying at Kaneki's place across the street for a couple of hours, I snuggled back into Kaneki's warmth and soon I was drifting off into a hefty, deep slumber.

~***~

I squinted my eyes open, immediately panicking that I wasn't in my bedroom until the thought sunk in; I fell asleep at Kaneki's apartment with Kaneki himself.

I checked my phone and noticed it was almost midnight and I have received a text message from Grandma about agreeing to my previous text three hours ago, and another asking if I was ready to go back home.

I shifted a bit when I recognized Kaneki's heavy weight leaning on the left side of my body. I didn't want to leave without alerting him that I needed to go home.

"Kaneki...?" I managed to whisper and shake his shoulder from my tired state. "Hey. Ken-ster. Wake up...!"

He grabbed my hand and softly mumbled, "Y/N... Please. I... Want you. Stay here... with me..."

I slowly shook my head. "I'm sorry, Kaneki. I should really get home. My Grandma must be worried sick."

"Alright..." He replied, carefully removing the blanket off us. "I'll escort you to your apartment, then."

My eyes enlarged in alarm when he managed to stand up; I took that as cue and gently pushed him back down.
"No, please. I really think you should be resting. You're exhausted."

"So, are you. Please, Y/N."

"I think I can manage on my own," I stood up where Kaneki followed and walked me towards the door. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine."

"...I trust you," Kaneki said. "And before you go--" He kissed me once more, deepening the kiss when he felt me kissing him back. I pulled away and he licks the corner of my mouth in response. "Call me if anything happens to you. I love you."

I couldn't tell whether if Kaneki was half-asleep or not so, I followed by responding with a smile.
"Love you, too."

I unlocked the door and stepped into the silent hallway, carefully walking towards home.

It was in that moment that I knew; I regretted the decision when I took my first step outside into the freezing, midnight air...
