Chapter no 5

Mitrata se shuruwat kerte hain.

As Meenakshi lay on the bed, her mind was a whirlpool of thoughts. She couldn't help but think about the conversation she had with Rajmata Saraswati. She looked at Dhruv who was sleeping. Her eyes welled up with tears. Her heart aching as she remembered the chunk of his past she has just learned. She was lost in thoughts. She continued to look at Dhruv. He was now facing her. His complexion, a color of warm honey absorbing the candlelight. The golden hue highlighted his features. His dark brown orbs, deep as an ocean, ever so expressive which held countless mysteries in their depths, were currently hidden by his thick, long lashes which were chasted over his eyes like butterfly wings denying her the pleasure of loosing herself into them, his lips delicately carved, a shade of light pink were a work of art themselves. His hair, black, soft and velvety. She couldn't help but admire him, the peace on his face made him look like an innocent child. Her heart swelled with a mixture of tenderness and affection as she gazed at him. The world around them seemed to blur into insignificance as she continued her tender exploration, tracing the contours of his features through her eyes. Her eyes were a mixture of love and sincerity. Her heart was beating wildly against her chest as she leaned forward and planted her lips on his forehead, a gesture laced with innocence and a promise of boundless love. She loosely interlocked their fingers for a moment and gazed at him. She let her fingers slip away and lay on the bed.

She smiled, her voice holding a promise as her eyes shined with sincarity.

Ek din aap apni marzi se humara hath thamenge.

She blinked her eyes. Her eyes shining with a mixture of hope and vulnerability as she gazed at him.

Morning

Dhruv was standing in front of the mirror setting his hair carefully. His deep brown orbs shining in the daylight. Meenakshi watched as he reached out for his itter bottle and sprayed it over his clothes. His hand stopped as he looked at a neatly wrapped gift box.

Confusion flickered across his features as he gazed at the gift box. He looked up and found Meenakshi looking at him though the mirror. She downed her gaze and focused on her book.

Dhruv smiled slightly. Meenakshi uplifted her gaze as she found Dhruv,s fingers tracing the edges of the red box.  She heard the delicate sound of the box opening followed by an audible gasp.

Dhruv opened the box, an audible gasp escaped his lips. His eyes widening in surprise.

There were cufflinks, in the design of lion. His heart racing in his chest and he turned looking at Meenakshi. Meenakshi smiled, she stood up and walked towards him. Dhruv,s feet automatically moved towards her. The distance between them seemed to blur into insignificance as if pulled by an invisible thread.

Yeh...

Aapke liye.

Meenakshi cut him off smiling softly. Her voice barely audible. Dhruv,s heart skipped a beat hearing her. An unknown warmth ungulfed him. He breathed shakily. His hands reached up, to cup her face, fingers trembling as he stroked her cheeks. His touch soft and tender.

Ky...un?

Dhruv asked, his voice shook with emotion. His heart felt an unknown warmth mingled with fear as he gazed into her eyes.

She smiled, a smile full of love and sincerity as she said, her hand hesitantly holding his, caressing his fingers gently.

Kyunke aap humare pati hain. Hum jante hain Dhruv ji. Hum apne mann ki baatein itna khul ker nahin keh paate, shayad hum shabdon ke sath utne ache nahin hain.

Her voice trembled with emotion. Dhruv,s heart skipped a beat. Tears welled up in Dhruv,s eyes hearing her. A lump formed in his throat as he tried to blink back his tears.

Per hum aapse bahot prem kerte hain. Bahot zyada.

Meenakshi added. Her voice a mixture of sincarity and affection.

Dhruv,s fragile heart started pounding in his chest like a drum hearing her. She reached out, her hands gently cradling his face, her touch hesitant but seemed to convay an overwhelming tenderness that seemed to take his breath away. Dhruv,s searched her eyes, trying to look into their depths in an attempt to find something he was craving for. All he saw was a mixture of love and tenderness which seemed real. His heart felt torn. A part of him wanted to give in, to believe that it was all real, that she'll never break his heart but the other part was scared, scared of being used, scared of being broken, scared of being abandoned. Tara had broken him to a point where he wondered if there's a possibility to be whole again or not. He didn't realized when a few tears escaped his eyes. He felt Meenakshi,s soft hands wiping the moisture that clung to his cheeks, her touch light as a feather.

Yeh humne ek dukan per dekhe the jab hum bhesh badal ker bahar gaye thy.

Meenakshi started to explain, convaying the tale behind the cufflinks.

Jab humne inhein dekha toh inn per yeh sher ki kalakari dekh ker pata nahin humein aapki yaad aayi aur tab hi humne inko le liya.

Meenakshi concluded gazing at Dhruv. She looked down, her fingers lightly grazing the uniquely designed cufflinks. She had went out after changing her appearance to help her people and she had stopped over a shop where she had seen these cufflinks. It's unique design had instantly caught her attention and she had remembered Dhruv. The lion was smiling and she had remembered how Dhruv always has a smile on his face despite his pain. How Dhruv had faced every challenge with bravery and was still facing. He was brave, kind-hearted, caring, strong, courageous. A man every girl desires. She respected him and admired him, loved him.

Hum laga dein?

Meenakshi asked softly.

Dhruv found himself nodding in positive in a state of daze. Meenakshi looked at him, her eyes, a mixture of love and admiration. She smiled lovingly at him. Their hearts beating wildly as they seemed to lose themselves into the depths of each other,s eyes. Her hands working on clasping the cufflink around his waist. it's unique design reflecting the strength she saw in him and admired. The sound of the cufflink clasping achoed in the chamber.

Dhruv,s heart thudded in his chest as her warm fingers worked on clasping the other cufflink around his waist. This simple act of hers seemed to stir something deep within him. The scent of jasmine and  sandalwood seemed to wrap itself around him in a comforting embrace.

As she was done, she uplifted her eyes and their eyes met. The world outside seemed to blur into insignificance. Meenakshi,s eyes were filled with love and tenderness while Dhruv,s eyes were a mixture of fear and tenderness but there was a little flicker of hope lurking somewhere deep in his eyes. Meenakshi,s heart broke seeing the emotions in his eyes. The girl had broke him to an extent that he was afraid of even hoping for love.

Dhruv looked into her eyes. His vulnerability shinning in his eyes only for a moment, and a fragile hope of true love reflected in the depths of his dark brown orbs.

She saw the vulnerability in his eyes before he could mask it. She gently cradled his face in her palms, her touch loving and tender and Dhruv,s eyes immediately fluttered close.

Dhruv ji hum chahate hain ke aap humse apne mann ki baatein baantein.

Meenakshi spoke, her voice was a mixture of tenderness and slight hesitation. Dhruv opened his eyes hearing her.

She quickly noticed a flicker of fear in his eyes and immediately added

Dheere dheere. Ek kaam kerte hain. Mitrata se shuruwat kerte hain.

Dhruv looked at Meenakshi, a hint of smile started playing on his lips hearing her and he nodded his head in positive.

Theek hai. Hum koshish kerenge aapse cheezein bantne ki.

Dhruv said softly. Meenakshi smiled hearing him and she held his head gently locking their fingers.
