A piece of his past

Kahan thy beta?

Rajmata Saraswati asked Dhruv who came towards them.

kahin nahin maa bas ek zalim hawa ke jhonke ne rok liya tha.

Dhruv said trying to remain composed eyeing Tara.

Dhruv smiled at Meenakshi, the bitterness fading away.

He looked at her, smiling. His eyes a mixture of tenderness and sincerity.

Shama kijiyega. Der ho gayi. Kisi kaam mein vyast thy.

Meenakshi nodded and Dhruv sat besides her and she served the food.

Evening!!!

Meenakshi was sitting in the chamber reading a noval.

Worry lines etched on her forehead as she read the specific part of the noval. She sighed heavily, her fingers curling into a fist as she gritted her teeth.  Her face turned red with anger.

Iss pagal aurat ke praan na har le hum.

Meenakshi said, her voice grave.

She breathed, a soft breaze rustled through the curtains. She heard soft click of shoes against the wooden floor. Her heart raced as she stood up closing the novel.

Dhruv ji.

Meenakshi called out softly as Dhruv entered the chamber after a long day. The worry lines on her forehead disappeared and a beautiful smile spread across her lips.

Aa gaye aap?

Meenakshi asked filling a glass with water. She passed it to him, the smile never leaving her lips.

Ji aa gaya. Der ho gayi aaj.

Dhruv said, his voice tired but soft as he smiled at her. His eyes softening as he looked at her for a moment before averting his eyes.

Aap soyi nahin ab tak?

Dhruv asked after taking a deep breath.

Aapka intezar ker rahe thy hum.

Meenakshi said, her voice a blend of tenderness and sincerity.

Dhruv looked at her, a curious lilt reflecting in his eyes.

Kyun?

Meenakshi smiled as she met his gaze, her voice was soft

Humara farz tha.

These words tugged at Dhruv,s heart, the hidden anticipation in the depths of his eyes faded and he responded with a low hum.

Haan farz hi toh tha, a mare duty, a mare obligation. It wasn't out of love but out of duty, out of obligation.

Dhruv whispered to himself. He felt like a fool for keeping hopes from her.

Aaiye khana kha lijiye.

Dhruv said, his voice, a quite murmur in the stillness of the chamber.

She stood up and walked towards him, locking his fingers with hers. She smiled at him and he smiled back, a faint smile barely hiding his turmoil.

Meenakshi ji.

Dhruv called out, his voice quite soft.

Ji.

Meenakshi replied softly, however what dhruv said next prickled her heart like sharp darts.

Agar aap humari itni chinta farz ke chalte ker rahi hain toh rehne dijiye.

Dhruv said, his words were laden with the weight of his unspoken pain and the suffering he has endured.

He walked out, towards the garden.

Meenakshi sat on the bed. Her mind raced to process Dhruv,s words. The words tugged at her heart. A bitter taste filled her mouth.

The words rang in her ears. The weight of his words settled over her heart making her heart feel suddenly heavy.

Hum kahan chuk gaye aapko samajhne mein dhruv ji.

She thought as she struggled to bear the weight of his words.

Agar aap humari itni chinta farz ke chalte ker rahi hain toh rehne dijiye.

A gasp escaped her lips, her hand flew up to her mouth as his words sunk in. The depths of the pain he had endured sank in. The words, a testament of his pain, a pain he had kept hidden behind a smile so skillfully that no one even had the slightest of doubt.

A tear rolled up on her cheek. The weight of his unspoken pain lingered in the air. Suddenly the wide chamber felt so close that she found it difficult to breathe. She gathered herself and rushed out, her anklets chimed creating a beautiful melody of it's own, her steps urgent as she hurried up towards the garden. She stopped, her breathes were heavy. Relief washed over her as she spotted Dhruv sitting on the swing seat. Once her breathes got normal, she walked towards him, her steps delicate on the grass.

Dhruv ji.

Meenakshi called out softly sitting beside him on the swing seat.

Ji.

Dhruv replied looking at the beautiful sky. Countless stars twinkled above in the sky with the moon in the center.

Meenakshi,s fingers fidled with the end of her saree,s palu as she struggled to find words.

She took a deep breath and said, her voice laced with sincerity.

Shama ker dijiye humein.

Dhruv looked at her, surprise flickering across his features. Their eyes meeting and then the world around them seemed to fade away. Time seemed to stand still.

Dhruv smiled, a soft smile as he reached out, gently holding her hand. Meenakshi,s breath hitched as she felt her skin tingle under his touch. Her heart picked up pace as she looked at him.

Kis liye?

Dhruv asked, surprise avident in his voice.

Humne aapko...

Aapne humein?

Dhruv cut her off, a flicker of mischief dancing in the depths of his eyes.

Meenakshi sighed. She looked at him, her eyes filled with love and a gentle warning in their depths.

Baat badalne ki koshish mat kijiye.

Meenakshi said, her voice gentle yet firm. Dhruv looked at her.

Aap itne vishvaas ke sath yeh baat kaise keh sakti hain?

Dhruv asked crossing his arms across his chest.

Meenakshi looked into his eyes, staring into their depths.

Aapki ankhein padh sakte hain hum Dhruv ji.

Meenakshi said, her voice tinged with sincarity.

Dhruv smiled hearing her, a sad smile which was laden with the weight of a bitter reality.

Yeh sab kitabi baatein hain Meenakshi ji. Agar ankhon se sachai dekhna itna asaan hota toh.....

Dhruv stopped, the unspoken words hung heavy in the air and her heart skipped a beat.

Kher chodiye. Hum bhi kya baatein le ker beith gaye

Dhruv said dismissing the topic with a chuckle and he walked inside.

Meenakshi stood there in a state of daze hearing his words. The words roamed in her mind. The words spoke a silent language of bitter experiences of the past.

Iska matlab kya hai? Dhruv ke ateet mein kya hua aisa.

Andar aaiye aap. Sardi lag jayegi.

Dhruv said coming towards her. He held her hand gently and pulled her with himself as they walked inside. Meenakshi who was still lost in thoughts followed him absent mindedly.
