The entire world cheered for the happy couple, the two nations finally pulled apart after their forever sealing kiss. Their bond now was a permanent one, their love true and real in the eyes of the law. But like they cared what the law thought of them, they have fought for this moment with all of their bosses for nearly a century. Even Obama expressed doubt and concern when Alfred told him of their relationship. But, Obama did send them a gift to congratulate them on their happiness. A caring note was taped to a carved wooden box, inside was a gorgeous silverware set with lovely designs. Obama even offered to pay for the wedding, the thought was nice but the two men turned him down.
Even if it had been fifty years without the said personification, many former presidents sent the couple gifts. The current president, Wisteria Cecilia Piper ((the first female president and my favorite OC)) had sent them a large pile of presents. In this pile were different books and novels, a lovely custom guitar and harmonica, and a beautiful handmade cupboard for linens. The most unexpected present they received from her was a basket for "romantic endeavors" and included scented candles, different flavors of lube, and some mixtapes she made with sexy songs. Alfred swore she was like Japan and Hungary, only worse.
Speaking of the said nation, Hungary clapped her hands loudly to grab everyone's attention. Taiwan ushered the couple away sweetly, allowing the two to have some private time before the reception. The couple went for a walk along the private cove and beach and Taiwan stood alongside Hungary and Austria.
"Ok, everyone!" Hungary began, holding Austria's hand, "The reception will be taking place in the manor on the hill! Please follow the trail of tiny white stones and hibiscus flowers! Cocktail hour will be served in the parlor and last for maybe an hour! We will start the reception after the lucky couple returns from the walk!" The personified world began to gather in a large manor that was located upon a hidden hillside. The manor was made of mostly large windows and was an open concept. Taiwan snatched a vintage key and walked over to a large oak door. She unlocked it, the doors creaking open to reveal a beautiful bar. Taiwan then whistled loudly, prompting all the nations to follow her. All the nations were floored to see the marble parlor with dark oak cabinets and gold accents. The glasses were the finest crystal and there were five different bartenders.
"The lad certainly doesn't disappoint, I'll give him that," England said chuckling.
"Oui, ze 'ouse iz beautiful!" France adds as he holds England's waist. The bartenders all bowed as the nations entered, and cocktail waitresses in white dresses carried trays of light hors d'oeuvres on tiny plates. They served fresh plates of ahi tuna sashimi with a light dill mayo sauce, mango and chili chutney with blue corn chips, small pheasant wings seasoned with rosemary and thyme, and seaweed salad with sesame oil. For a sweet option, they served cherry flavored macarons with champagne mousse inside. The drinks they offered consisted of a range of things: from tropical cocktails like pina coladas to imported beers and liquor. The younger nations like Latvia and Sealand were offered Shirley temples, so they didn't feel left out.
Taiwan, using the same key, unlocked the parlor's balcony doors and then turned to the crowd. She saw Denmark and Prussia heading straight for the beer and began to panic. The last thing she and Hungary needed was a drunk two-thirds of the Awesome Trio. Hungary whistled loudly, making everyone stop. Taiwan stepped in front of the crowd, raising her hands.
"This doesn't apply to everyone but please listen! Don't get drunk yet, this day is way too special and we all know it! I don't want the first dance and dinner buffet to be spoiled because someone decided to gorge themselves on beer or wine! I'm especially looking at you Prussia and Denmark!" Taiwan yelled, causing some of the nations to laugh. Prussia and Denmark took the jab light-heartedly, seeing as it was their best friend's big day. They didn't want to ruin it, especially since both Alfred and Ivan are scary when angry. The nations drank and socialized peacefully, putting all hate away for the day. North and South Korea got along nicely, Afghanistan and Pakistan were being civil towards everybody, Romano wasn't cussing at all, even England was being nice to his older brothers. Any other day all of them would fight, but not today. This was Ivan and Alfred's day, it was a day that didn't deserve to be ruined. They both have waited so long for this to be real, Ivan has waited so long for this to be real. The countries couldn't be selfish over petty history, not today. Scotland admitted to crying through the whole ceremony to England, who laughed in good spirits saying that he did as well. Fights were not going to happen today.
While all this was going down, Alfred and Ivan were walking on the beach hand in hand. The two were so happy together as they looked out at the sea. A warm breeze picked up the flower petals from the ceremony venue, and sunflower and rose petals swarmed around Alfred and Ivan like something out of a romance movie. A rose petal landed in Ivan's platinum blonde hair, causing Alfred to laugh and pick it out. A sunflower petal had gotten caught on Alfred's cowlick, causing Ivan to carefully pluck it off as to not disturb the piece of hair. They both looked at the petals with eyes of love.
"Fredka, there will never be enough words to explain what I felt when you were away. The world was so empty without you. I was so empty without you. But, I knew you would come back to me. I would have waited forever to do so. Even if it took a thousand years" Ivan whispered the last part, hugging his beloved close.
"Vanya, that's not healthy. What if I-" Alfred began before noticing Ivan's tears.
"I would have waited for you until I the day I died Fredka. Even if my country crumbled beneath my very feet, I'd cling to my life with the sheer hope you'd be back in my arms" Ivan said sternly as he kissed Alfred's head. Alfred blushed and chuckled softly.
"Even if I had a child with Arinova, my love always belonged to you. I simply did what I did so I could feel your arms around me again" Alfred looked at Ivan and cuddled into his embrace deeper, "Are you-"
"Nyet. I will never be angry with you for that. You were forced to do that, and the reason was to protect us. What you did was selfless and noble, and it was greatly appreciated and honored. No matter what any of those other inferior nations tell you Fredka, you are a hero. You're my hero" Ivan kissed Alfred softly before they turned around, "now we should get to the manor, da?"
"yea, we can't make cocktail hour too long. It's our wedding day the last thing we need to see is France, Prussia, Denmark, or England drunk and nude," Alfred replied and Ivan laughed loudly. He nodded at the American and got out his phone.
TEN MINUTES LATER
Hungary was drinking a bottle of vodka lemonade and Taiwan was sipping on some saké when their phones buzzed. They were in the corner, trying their best not to lose their minds. They had averted every crisis so far: China and England bickering, Prussia going for a third beer, and South Korea nearly getting punched by Germany after he groped Italy's chest.
"The couple is on the move Liz, should we start moving everyone?" Taiwan asked. The two female nations never hung out together, but after organizing the wedding they had gotten to a first name basis.
"I think we should Xiao Mei" Hungary nodded as whistled. The crowd looked at the two and they smiled, "Alright guys! It's time for all of us to move to the grand hall! Please grab your drinks and follow Taiwan down the corridor!" Taiwan raised her hand and they all picked up their drinks, following the pretty nation. The large gala hall was elegant, yet rustic. The wood beams adding a home-like feel and the vaulted ceilings adding so much dimension. Hungary placed Hong Kong at the DJ stand and Taiwan and Poland waited behind the closed vaulted doors for the couple.
Arriving not even two minutes later, Poland and Taiwan began to fix the couple's suits and headwear. Poland snatched Alfred's bouquet of white daisies and rewrapped it. Poland then left for his table, and Taiwan placed them in the doorway to the grand hall. The dancefloor was large enough for everyone to fit and tables were decorated with white table clothes, powder blue hydrangeas as the centerpiece, and cherry red linens. Everyone was inside already, anxiously anticipating the couple's arrival. Hungary was in front of the large oak doors, smiling happily as Taiwan readied the couple. Quickly texting a 'ready' to Hungary, Taiwan moved out of the way as the couple made their entrance. Hungary nodded at Hong Kong who took the mic from the stand.
"Now, nations of the world! I have the honor and privilege to announce the world's most anticipated couple! Now please give them a hand! I proudly introduce Mr. Ivan and Alfred Braginsky-Jones!" the large doors flew open as the couple waved happily to the cheering crowd. Ivan walked over to Hong Kong who winked.
"You got the right one, da?" Ivan whispered. Hong Kong chuckled.
"Of course! The instrumental cover, correct?" Hong Kong asking to make sure. Ivan nodded and smiled brightly. He had chosen the first dance song and didn't tell Alfred what it was. He wanted his Fredka to be surprised, so he calmly walked back over to him.
"May I have this dance, my love?" Ivan asked sweetly, bowing to his lover and kissing his hand. Kiku had already brought out his camera, recording every moment.
"Now for the happy couple's first dance," Hong Kong said softly as Ivan led Alfred to the dancefloor.
"Vanya, what did you pick?" Alfred asked, tilting his head like a puppy. Ivan chuckled as they got into position.
"You'll see Fredka" Ivan whispered as the song began to play. Alfred's eyes lit up upon hearing the melody.

However, what he didn't expect was Ivan whispering the lyrics to him. This was an instrumental cover, and his husband was singing for him. The two danced slowly and happily, Alfred burying his tearing eyes into his husband's chest. Alfred's arms wrapped tightly around Ivan's back, crying almost silently. Ivan cupped his head and rubbed it as he sang. He occasionally felt the sniffle of Alfred's nose, making him chuckle. Ivan still sang to him softly, looking out into the large crowd. He saw EVERYBODY was crying, especially France, England, and Finland. All the nations were tearing up, Norway and Sweden using their linens for their streaming tears. Japan began to quake with emotion so much that China helped steady the camera. Ivan put his mouth to Alfred's ear, whispering the last few verses.
"I have died every day waiting for you. Darling don't be afraid I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you for a thousand more. And all along I believed I would find you. Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved for a thousand years. I'll love you for a thousand more" the song finished off and Alfred removed his face from Ivan's chest. Ivan cupped his cheeks and wiped away Alfred stray tears as the crowd clapped.
As the couple sat down dinner was being served. It was served buffet style, with different types of homestyle foods like fried chicken and mac n cheese. But it also had high-class food like lobster tail and filet mignon. The couple picked up their plates first, each one of them getting a bit of everything. Ivan's plate consisted of butter basted lobster tail, mac n cheese, penne vodka, a piece of honey ham and pineapple, rosemary pheasant, garlic mashed potatoes, and a glass of expensive champagne with a cherry in it. Alfred's plate had a medium rare ribeye, prime rib, sweet potato casserole, duck in peanut sauce, garlic roasted asparagus, a stuffed shell with ricotta cheese, and a large flute of vodka cranberry with sparkling water. The nations picked what they desired and all sat down, the couple waited for everyone to get their food. As everyone began to get settled, Canada lightly banged his glass with his fork. Getting everyone's attention, Canada stared in shock.
"Wow that's a first," he said under his breath, causing America and Russia to chuckle, "Before we all eat, I'd love to say my congratulations to the lovely newlyweds! Cheers eh!" Canada said raising his pint of beer.
"Cheers!" the crowd said, taking a gulp of their drinks.
"But I also would like to share, as my right as the best man and brother to Alfred, a story about my little brother" Canada had a devilish smirk on his face, making Ivan laugh. Alfred just held his head.
"Crap" is all Alfred could mutter before Canada began to tell his tale.
