I recently got back into my RWBY fanfiction (It's called WINGS: Team STRQ or something like that, if you like the magical school genre consider reading it on AO3) and realized I'd need to have a LOT of side characters. So I wrote some profiles for me I thought I'd share with y'all! (Should I post the fic here too?)

It's a prequel, and I personally don't like when fic authors make their OCs the stars of the show so,,,I tried to put in many canon characters -but they're practically OCs since the actual show doesn't talk at all about their lifetime before adulthood...

Sorry if this is confusing to the people who haven't seen RWBY, basically, the characters are all based on both a fairy tale character and a color and learn to hunt monsters in teams of four.

TEAM STRQ

Summer Rose
Gender: Female

Character: Dorothy (The Wizard Of Oz)

Power: No semblance, silver eyes kill Grimm when in extreme distress
Bio: Summer is from far out of town, and is excited to be at Beacon. She wants to become a huntress to carve her own path in the world, this ambition was supported by her parents, who she left at home and misses dearly. But Summer wants this life of monster hunting because she feels it's the only way to make use of her magical silver eyes. She is incredibly excitable and friendly, though also shy and flustered, she's more than a little afraid to be a team leader.

Taiyang Xiao Long

Race: Latino/Chinese/Human

Color: Yellow
Character: The Cowardly Lion (The Wizard of Oz)
Alignment: Lawful Good

Power: Can show anyone their greatest fear
Bio: Taiyang hit his head a few months back and got amnesia, since that incident he has lived with his aunt, who hasn't told him much about his past, just that he always wanted to be a huntsman. He is naive, caring, and fun, but also incredibly anxious and traumatized by events he cannot remember.

Raven Branwen

Race: Japanese/Human

Character: Huginn (Huginn and Munin), The Tin Woodsman (The Wizard Of Oz)
Alignment: True Neutral
Weapon: Omen -Dust powered katana
Power: Uses portals connected to 3 loved ones
Bio: Raven was raised in a bandit group in the forest alongside her brother Qrow. When huntsmen begin clashing with her father Corvid, he decides her and Qrow should enrol in Beacon to learn the ways of huntsmen, and therefore, how to kill them. He also intends for Raven to kill Qrow as he is a nuisance to the group. Raven is very serious, quiet and brooding, accustomed to violence, and will do anything to win, whether winning entails a perfect grade or her fathers approval. Deep down she does care for Qrow and her friends, but prefers to suppress this perceived weakness.

Qrow Branwen

Bio: Qrow was raised in the same environment as Raven, the difference being that, due to his unfortunate power, he has always been the least favourite child. He doesn't know he is to be murdered, and is happy to prove his worth by helping Raven -whom he looks up to- infiltrate Beacon. Qrow is naive, struggles with conversation, and harbours his fair share of insecurity, but he is friendly and self sacrificial, though he tends to hold himself back or be held back by Raven as his bad luck is known to claim lives of those close to him.

TEAM GRAY

Glynda Goodwitch

Character: Glinda (The Wizard of Oz)

Weapon: The Disciplinarian - Horse crop
Power: Telekinesis
Bio: Youngest daughter of one of the professors, Glynda is younger than most other students, but more is expected of her from her terribly strict parents. She is easily annoyed and hates breaking rules, causing most other students to be at least a little bit annoyed by the way she acts. Glynda is very happy to be team leader -she wouldn't have it any other way.

Rosaline Valentine (OC)

Power: Can slow or speed up the heartbeat of those around her, used to calm the anxious, excite the sad or terrify the unsuspecting
Bio: Following the death of her close friend by Grimm, Rosaline has sworn to protect the world by becoming a huntress. She is unsure if this violent lifestyle is truly for her, but she gives her all at Beacon, mainly to support her teammates. She is incredibly sweet, optimistic, and caring and doesn't often get angry, though, she is often bluntly honest. She suffers from panic disorder, though her panic attacks don't occur often.

Ash Elenor (Cinder Fall)
Gender: Female
Race: White/Human

Power: Can heat and melt objects and surfaces
Bio: Ash lived most of her life as a maid to her stepmother and stepsisters following the death of her father, after years she accidentally killed her stepmother in a fit of passion and ran away shortly after, she was taken in by Professor Azure, who enrolled her and Leo into Beacon. Ash is very secretive about her past and in general. She is quiet and not often happy, though she does care for her friends and can be very emotional.

Yasmine Rem (OC)
Gender: Female
Race: Japanese/Bat Faunus
Team: GRAY
Color: Purple
Character: Sleeping Beauty
Alignment: True Neutral
Weapon: Deck of Spades -Japanese Throwing Knife Fans
Power: Echolocation (Faints soon after use)
Bio: Yasmine's rich parents paid for her entry into Beacon despite the fact that she doesn't want to become a Huntress, but rather, to live a quiet life in the forest. She intends to fail so badly that she is kicked out of the Academy. A lot of this tends to fall into place on its own as she has narcolepsy and faints with semblance use, causing her to miss classes and do poorly in battle. Yasmine is sarcastic, unimpressed, and easily frustrated, though she doesn't wish to harm others.

Power: Absorbing others powers
Bio: A mysterious out of towner, S was cursed to never say his name, and the closest he can get is "S". He is a very serious, grumpy, quiet boy who applied to Beacon all on his own because he didn't see anywhere else to go, luckily, he has a proficiency in combat (and patience!) from years of hunting grimm for coin. He couldn't care less to be team leader, but he doesn't have a problem with it.

Leo Aurous (OC)

Race: Black/Human
Team: SLVR
Color: Gold
Character: Midas
Alignment: Neutral Good
Weapon: Guardian Angel -Boomerang Shield
Power: Turns things to gold with touch
Bio: Previously the adopted heir to a wealthy family Leo ran away to live where his powers weren't the only thing people cared about him for. He was taken in by Professor Azure, who got him a Beacon scholarship alongside Ash Elenor. He is kind hearted and fun, but has become depressed because of the destructive nature of his powers.

Vermillion Torchwick (OC)

Bio: Roman's twin sister and best friend, who was born without arms, Vermillion often feels like a burden to Roman, and thinks she was accepted into Beacon out of pity, but she is determined that one day regardless of her struggles she will be a hero. All in all, she is quiet and insecure but motherly, protective, and capable.

Roman Torchwick

Character: Romeo Candlewick (Pinnochio)

Bio: Twin and closest friend to Vermillion, Roman has always dreamed of becoming a Huntsman. With support from his parents, Roman and his sister joined Beacon hoping to have fun. Roman is passionate, fun, boastful, and sociable.

BEACON ACADEMY STAFF

Professor Piper (OC)
Gender: Male
Race: Latino/Human
Color: Green
Character: The Pied Piper
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Weapon: Serenade- Lyre Club
Power: Mind control through song
Bio: Mr Piper doesn't discuss himself often, and isn't interested in sharing his past with students. He comes off as eccentric though also extremely clever and learned. He is happy to share his battle expertise with the students, and has high expectations for them.

Professor Goodwitch (OC)

Race: White/Human
Color: Pink
Character: The Maiden (Rumpelstilskin)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Power: Hardens substances
Bio: Mrs Goodwitch is Glynda's mother. She is a very strict teacher who will not hesitate to punish the kids in often bizarre ways. She is snappish, prideful, and hates being talked back to. She keeps a careful eye on Glynda, making sure her marks don't dip below top of the class. She intends to discover S' true name as she believes him to be an escaped criminal.

Bio: Cerulean is a nurse and teacher at Beacon who has a soft spot for runaways and has been known to enroll several yearly. She always checks up on the runaways and provides motherly support. She lost her own son many years ago, and sees him in the kids she protects through teaching self defence and nursing.
