Finding My Way
"Oh, come on! Why not?" I asked as he stood up. "Are we strangers or something? I thought we were dating."
"We are but I just... I can't."
"Kelly, why? What's going on?"
"It's just wrong, that's all."
"Why?"
"It," he paused, rolling his eyes back as he thought, "It just is, okay?"
"Kelly, you are my boyfriend. I am you girlfriend. We've been together for a while now. How is it wrong?"
"Because you're seventeen and I'm almost twenty."
"That's not even bad!"
"It's not right!"
"Are you serious? What kind of a guy turns down sex?" I muttered, crossing my arms over my bare chest.
"One who knows that it isn't right to take advantage of a kid," he snapped, handing me my bra and my shirt.
For some reason, the word 'kid' sliced through me like a hot knife through butter, but I didn't let it show.
"How the hell is it taking advantage of me when I am the one trying?"
He rubbed his forehead, pushing his messy black hair out of his face, a common trait of his frustration.
"I just can't, Sadie. I don't know why, it's just... different."
"So, if a sixteen year old walked up to you, you would turn her down."
"Probably."
"Just 'probably,' not a hard yes?"
"Sadie, you're different! You're not like other girls; you're so much more. Maybe more than I can handle."
"W-what does that mean?" I asked, my eyes locking onto him as he began to pace.
"This isn't fair to you."
"You're right, it's not; I wanted to give you all of me, and you don't seem to give a shit," I quipped, putting my clothes back on.
"It's not that- you-"
"I'm just different, I know. I get it. I don't know how I'm different, but that's fine. You've been acting weird lately, anyway. How long have you been thinking about this?"
"Thinking about what?"
"You know exactly what. How I'm 'too much for you to handle,'" I said, angrily air quoting myself.
"Sadie, it's not like that," he said, putting his hands up in defense. "Don't make it something that it's not."
"Really? If that's what it's not, then what is it?!"
He began to fidget with his hands as he thought of what to say.
"Yeah, go ahead, Mister Morals, take your time."
"Don't start," he growled, his brown eyes dilating. "I don't want this to be a fight."
"Then tell me what's wrong, tell me what's going on! Talk to me," I implored. "What is on your mind?"
He once again rubbed his forehead. "I... I think we need to call it."
I stood up a little straighter, slowly, as if someone was pulling a string to hold me up.
"You wanna end us?"
"I-I don't know. I think maybe we just need a night to breathe. I think we've been together too much lately, y'know?"
I slowly nodded, looking around the room to see where I had set all of my things.
"Maybe you're right," I mumbled. "Maybe we just need space for a day or two."
"Yeah... Hey, I don't want us to break up," he said, holding my chin as he looked into my eyes. "I really don't. I do, however, think we need a little breathing room, alright?"
"Yeah," I whispered.
"What do you wanna do?" he asked.
"I guess I'll... take my stuff to the Crüe house... uh, I'll just pack up, I guess," I mumbled, feeling confused, hurt, and sad.

"Just give me a call tomorrow, okay?" he mumbled, kissing my cheek as I got out of the car.
Wordlessly, I nodded, dragging my bag up to the Mötley's apartment as he sputtered away in Taime's beat up old car.
With a blank look on my face, I knocked on the door, thinking about what was next.
"Sadie!" Tommy cheered when he saw me, his smile lasting only a brief moment before it dropped and he pulled me into a hug. "What happened?"
"I don't really know," I murmured as he pulled me into the apartment.
"I swear to God, if he hurt you, we will all go over and-"
"No, it's- it's not like that."
"Then what happened."
"I guess... I'm just too much of a kid? I don't really know."
"You gonna be okay?"
"Yeah... we're gonna talk tomorrow. We've been spending a lot of time together, so maybe we're just overloaded with each other." I shrugged. "A night off might be necessary," I joked, waving to Nikki as he entered the living room area.
"What's up, Sexy Sadie? You look sad," he said, pouting as he spoke.
"Boy problems," I mumbled. "I'm sure you can relate."
"Absolutely, guys are the worst," he joked.

"What are you doing?" Nikki asked.
"Calling Kelly."
"Why?"
"He told me to when he dropped me off."
"Why are you even giving him the time of day?" he asked, totally exasperated.
"Because," I mumbled as I waited for the phone to ring.
"Despite your attitude, that's not a reason," he replied, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Don't you have someone else to bother?"
"Nope; you're the only one here."
"Lovely... Your apartment is disgusting, by the way," I muttered as the phone rang.
"Thanks; it's our own personal decor. We might ditch the band and be professional interior designers, whaddya think?"
I waved him off, silencing him as the phone rang.... and rang... and rang.
I rolled my eyes, sighing as I hung up; he was probably in the bathroom, but I tried calling again, only to receive the beep of a busy phone line.
I cursed under my breath and hung up, glancing up to see Nikki looking at me, arms crossed with a strange satisfied look on his face.
"Told you so."
"Fuck off."
I called three more times, the final time being directed to the front desk.
"I'm looking for Kelly Nickels or Taime Downe; they were staying in room 165 but I can't seem to get a hold of anyone," I explained.
"I'm sorry, that room is empty; they checked out early this morning."
I felt myself pale and leaned forward in hopes that my hair hid my face from Nikki.
"Did they leave a message... or say where they were going?"
"I'm sorry, no. They just checked out and were gone within thirty minutes. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"N-no, that's all," I mumbled, feeling the numb anger run through me. "Thanks."
Nikki looked at me, his satisfied smirk slowly dropping. "They skipped out, didn't they?"
Wordlessly, I nodded, staring blankly at the floor.
For the next few hours, I'd be hearing "that's what you get for dating a guy named Kelly," and a chorus of "We told you so's." It took me a while, but their teasing and weird way of comforting me made me feel a bit better.
In a way, I had gotten over it. They were right after all...
