Sadie had been sitting with Eli, Demetri, and Miguel a lot now that she wasn't allowed to eat in the library. She'd learned to enjoy their company a bit more, having a handle on Demetris obnoxious jokes. Sadie liked them, they liked her. She'd always preferred to be alone, it was the only one no one would hurt her. But they wouldn't, she could sense it. Sadies lunch came in handy too, having enough to feed all four of them and please her parents.
"Sending a cruel message to someone online can be just as hurtful as saying it to their face." The counselor began over the lunch period, making the cafeteria fall silent, "Now i'm not gonna name names, but the other day a mother called me up because her son was crying after some kids online made fun of his facial deformity."
"You're got to be shitting me." Sadie said in disbelief as she looked to Eli. He rose his hand to cover his face as students around the cafeteria began whispering and staring at him. Sadie huffed as she grabbed the back of his neck, bringing his face over and hiding him in her neck, "Counselor are bullshit."
"If you're sick of getting bullied, my karate dojo's looking for recruits." Miguel spoke up as he looked over at Eli who stayed hidden under Sadies hair.
"Or you could just tell me who said it and i'll kick their ass." Sadie spoke confidently as she rubbed Eli's back with a hum.
"Love your energy, Sadie. But you can't kick ass, you're the one who got your ass kicked." Demetri said her way as he pulled the top of his pudding off, giving her a knowing look.
"That was two years ago, Demetri." Sadie said back annoyed as his hands shot up in defense, "Maybe karate will be good for you, E."
"You hear that, Eli?" Demetri asked as Eli pulled away from Sadies motherly hold and looked Demetris way, "A little karate training and you're gonna kick some major ass."
"I'm serious, Demetri. My sensei's the real deal. I'm sure I could get you both discounts." Miguel spoke as he looked at the three. A minor and sudden thought crossed Sadies mind, nearly flooding her memory and every sense she had. Sadies eyes moved across the cafeteria to look at Sam, glare at her more so. Sam kicked her ass with karate, Sadie thought about the humiliation she suffered every single day because of it.
"As enticing as that sounds, I think we'd rather spend our afternoons playing Crucible Control then getting hit in the face." Demetri said as Sadie looked over at Miguel with narrow eyes, holding her head higher as a grin formed on her face.
"How good is he?" Sadie asked suddenly as she leaned on her elbow.
"Really good, he took on four guys at once and won." Miguel said as Sadie held her head a bit higher, a smirk forming on her face as she looked over at the LaRusso girl in the corner of her eye.
"Hey, Sadie!" Moon called out as she chased Sadie down the hallway when the bell had rung. Sadie pulled one of her earbuds out when she heard her name being called, turning around to find Moon hurrying after her with Yasmine and Sam close behind her.
"Oh, hey there Moon." Sadie said with a grin, pausing her music and pulling her backpack around her shoulders better, "How's it going?"
"It's going good." the girl grinned as she rocked on her heels slightly, "Are you going to the halloween dance?"
Sadies eyebrows rose, "I suppose so, my dance moves are brutal though."
Sadie stared with a judged look when Sam laughed, trying to hide it with a cough.
"Amazing! Will you come with us? We're gonna all go together." Moon said with a bright smile. Sadie could see Yasmine really hasn't wanted her to go, looking Sadie up and down with a grossed out expression on her face.
"As entertaining as that sounds, it's a no for me." Sadie said with a half grin as Moon frowned, "But I'm sure i'll see you there."
"Maybe you can teach me some of those horrible dance moves." Moon offered with a hopeful smile. Sadie gave her a smirk, meeting Sams eye for a moment as she turned on her heels and walked off.
"Wait, okay." Sadie said as she jumped up and swung herself over the backyard fence to get into Eli's backyard. His jaw fell when she did so, so effortlessly, "Be completely honest, does this costume make me look fat? Because it came too small and at first I was like 'well that's okay, it'll hug me good.' but now i'm staring to think I look fat."
"Sadie, you just jumped over the fence." he spoke in disbelief, gawking at her.
"Strong legs, why do you think my thighs aren't super skinny?" Sadie asked in disbelief as she looked to her costume, "Hello? Answer me."
Eli looked at her Wonder Woman costume and shook his head, "I think it looks great."
Sadie squeezed his face before dragging him toward her moms car, typing Demeti's address in the GPS.
"Don't let anyone roofie me." Sadie announced as she passed her drink to Demetri, "I've got to pee and this costume takes forever to get off."
"Eli and I could help." Demetri offered as the boy in his scrubs hit his arm.
Sadie looked at the pair with a odd look, "I'm good."
"So close." Demetri huffed as she walked away.
"Don't make her uncomfortable, she's my neighbor." Eli begged as he pulled his mask up around his face better, taking Sadies drink that Demetri casually sat down, "She's our friend now, don't scare her."
"I was being a good friend and offering to help her get her costume off." Demetri said as he threw his hands up in surrender, Miguel walking toward the pair.
Sadie washed in hands in the dim bathrooms, groaning when she saw her nail polish was already starting to chip. Sadies costume was a complete hassle to get off and then on again, her mom helping her get it on the first time. Sadie could feel it twisted on her back a bit as she sighed and tried to yanked at it as her back turned in the mirror. The sound of the bathroom doors opening made Sadie stare at the figure in the mirror.
Samantha LaRusso.
Sam hurried to the sink to wash her hands, spilling coke on them as they became sticky now. She glanced at Sadie in the mirror, seeing her struggling to untwist her costume behind her back, "Do you need some help?"
"Not from you." Sadie snapped as her quickly, yelping slightly as she bend her elbow the wrong way. Sadie groaned in disbelief as she dropped her arms, looking at Sam with a eye roll before turning around, pulling her hair off her neck. Sam dried her hands and walked over to unzip the back of Sadies costume for her. Sam eyed the purple, lacey bra she wore before untwisting the costume.
"It's a one piece?" Sam asked her gently as she finished untwisting and zipping the back up again. Sadie ignored her, feeling chills run down her body when Sams hand grazed her skin. Once the costume was completed up, Sadie stormed out of the bathroom. Sam huffed in disbelief, "You're welcome."
"Sadie!" Moon called out as she walked over to her. Sadie sighed in relief at the sight of the girl, "I was looking all over for you."
"Me too." Sadie lied as she cleared her throat, "Wanna get out of here?"
"Where to?" Moon flushed as Sadie grinned, holding out her hand as the pair exited the school.
