"Hey." Aisha spoke as she stretched alongside Sadie, "This thing with you and Hawk... is it gonna effect you on the mat?"
"Like, my fighting?" Sadie asked with a frown of her eyebrows, twisting her back, "No, why?"
"Just with yesterday in the woods." Aisha explained, nodding toward Miguel and Hawk, clearly making up a few feet away, "Maybe the two of you should talk."
"We have talked." Sadie said suddenly, clearly becoming annoyed but holding herself back, "He's said what he has to say and I still think he sounds like a idiot."
Aisha had to laugh, "What about Demetri?"
"I don't wanna talk about him." the Vesper girl snapped quickly. Her face had fallen at the mention before she looked away, "It doesn't matter anymore so can we just drop it?"
"Yeah, im s-" Aisha began before Sensei Lawrence walked in from the office.
"Everyone fall in!" he announced, watching and they did so, "Today we'll be learning one of the most important lessons a Cobra Kai could ever know."
"Where's Sensei Kreese?" Hawk questioned from the far left. Sadie kept her distance, sticking to the right.
"Yeah, shouldn't we wait for the sensei emeritus?" Stingray spoke up before seeing the look on the blonde mans face, "Or not."
"Mr Kreese will no longer be joining us." Johnny stated, confusing his students along the way, "I made a promise when I became your sensei. To always look out for your best interests. Despite how hard this may be for all of us, he didn't have our best interests at heart."
Sadie saw her phone light up from her bag a few feet away.
"John Kreese may have founded Cobra Kai, but he no longer represents what this dojo stands for. His Cobra Kai was old and outdated. He refused to move forward. What happens when we do that, Mr.Diaz?" Sensei Lawrence asked, making eye contact with each of his students before focusing on Miguel.
"You get stuck like cement." the taller boy stated with a sad look in his eye.
"Exactly." Johnny stated, looking at Sadie as she gave a apologetic nod for yesterday, "To be a great fighter, you gotta learn to adapt. This creed on the wall...follow it to the letter and it'll make you strong. It'll make you formidable. It will also make you a asshole."
Sadie wanted to ask him if he realized they had already all been assholes.
"Cause that's just black paint on a white wall. But life's not black and white. More often then not, it's gray. And it's in those gray areas where Johnny Lawrence's Cobra Kai sometimes shows mercy." their sensei stated. Looked of confused spread across the dojo while a few voiced their confusion, not realizing their words echoed and traveling within the four walls, "Doesn't mean you can't be badass, that's still a requirement. But you have to learn to think, not just with your gut or your fist but to really use this."
He beat on the side of his head with his finger. Sadie stopped a moment to think about when she'd ever used her head before fighting. She realized she never once did, always diving in head first and with her fist rather then her brain. Sadie told herself she was ridiculous but forgot about the feeling she'd felt when everyone thought she was all talk and no bite. How much her past haunted her until she could show she wasn't going to put up with what anyone else had to say.
"So, can I see you again?" the older boy asked from where he laid in Sadie's bed. She'd met him once before, when he sold her a rolled joint a few days ago. When she texted her address, he'd showed up in just a few minutes. Sadie barley knew his name, all her knew was that he had pale skin, dark hair, and blue eyes. A few trails she seemed to miss more often then she'd admit.
"Soon." Sadie lied with a smile, leaning over to kiss him on the head, "I've gotta run but take this."
She placed a ten in his palm, "Grab you some food on your way and make sure my mom sees you, okay?"
"You want your mom to see me?" he asked her in disbelief. But Sadie ignored him, heading into the living room and finding her mom in the kitchen.
"Your friend wanna stay for dinner?" the blonde asked awkwardly, sipping the herb tea she brought from her trip.
"No, and i'll be out." Sadie said back, grabbing her keys, "Don't wait up."
"Sadie, wait." Annalise stopped her daughter from leaving so soon, "Can you at least tell me where you're going?"
Sadie turned around with a sigh, "Just on a drive for a little bit."
"Then could you at least make it home for dinner? I'm making egg rolls and all the things you love most." she spoke. Sadie stared at her mother as the woman gave a hopeful look her way, "I'm trying to be involved with you again."
Sadie blinked and broke eye contact, holding her keys tighter as she headed out of the front door.
"Sadie?" it was Demetri. Sadie's drive ended up on his front step, "Do you wanna come in?"
"I don't care that you joined Miyagi Do." she stated quickly, like it was burning her not to say it, "If it makes you happy, i'm glad you decided to do it."
He waited, staring a moment, "What changed?"
"Everything, apparently." she said back, eyes watery but trying to stay together. Her words meant more then she even realized, "I'm just sorry, that's it. Everything I ever did to you, how I made you feel, i'm just sorry."
"Why are you saying this?" he asked her. Demetri hadn't seen Sadie in a month, the last time they saw each other was their break up.
"Because I feel so guilty." she admitted with a sad look across her face, "You were scared of me and I knew it. But I never did anything to stop, to make you feel safer around me. I stuck with all my horrible ways... I didn't use my head."
Demetri sighed, leaning on the door, "Don't feel guilty-"
"I do." she cut him off.
"Listen to me." he stoped her once more, "You aren't horrible, or anything else you've told yourself. You're stuck on a loop of violence and that wasn't your fault. Or Eli's. That's all I have to say."
"You think it's Cobra Kai." she stated.
"Don't you?" he asked back. Yes, absolutely, no question asked she thought so.
"Completely." Sadie said back with zero hesitations, "But you don't understand."
"I don't understand what it feels like to be looked down at and treated as weaker?" Demetri asked her with a raise of his eyebrows, "I do."
"Then you get why I can't just walk away." Sadie tried to reason again.
"No, that's the part I have trouble getting." he said back honestly, looking over his shoulder, "Why don't you come in for a little bit? We can watch a little Doctor Who?"
Sadie stared before she shook her head, "I actually think there's something I need to do."
Yells left Sadie's mouth as she crashed the water pipe onto the old car. She went to the junk yard after she left Demetris. Sadie threw the hammer by her side at the window shield, laughing ad it crashed into a million pieces. Her hand reached behind her for the blow torch, walking toward and lighting the end of the tarp that was draped over the car.
Sadie backed up quickly, her floral shorts standing out against the leather top. Her dark eyes looked red from the illuminated fire before her, a smile spreading across her face as she watched the car go up in flames. Her fist went into the air and cheers left her lips. Sadie leaned through her own car and turned her music up loudly, letting it echo in her ears as she watched the junker car burn to nothing before her crazed eyes.
