MY OPINIONS —

I admit, I haven't read much of this story. I started it but slowly lost interest. Not because it's at all a bad story, but because I'm so bad at readings Marvel fics. I tend to just sort of shut off my brain while watching the movies, so I have a very minimal understanding of the universe. I'm not telling you this to keep you from reading! Just to explain why I'm a little less aware of this fic.

Actually, I really loved what I read. Cecelia's story — a native America child removed from her tribe and culture — is a story that I rarely see in main stream books, let alone Wattpad fics. It's also based on the author's own experience! And, in my opinion, the best way to read stories less told is through someone who knows it.

All of the characters are interest. I love Cecelia's adoptive family and her friend group. Her relationship with her uncle is an interesting take on an abusive relationship. What makes it interesting and painful is the way it interacts with the rest of her family. No one knows about the abuse. So her parents accidentally promote the abuse and Alex is jealous of the relationship (unaware it's because their uncle is weaponizing Cecelia's powers.) You get realistic views of how Cecelia suffers from this, and the event that gave her powers and put her in the adoption system in the first place.

Technically, Cecelia is the villain of this story, in that she works for the Vulture. Which makes her interactions with Peter and Spider-Man very interesting. I'm not a big fan of enemies to lovers. Usually I just find it unnecessary, and often it's use to excuse abusive relationships. Yet I love the possibilities for this relationship! Cecelia and Peter already have had amazing interactions and I can see how they would work together. I think because Cecelia isn't actively fighting Peter out of malice, nor is she manipulating or abusing him. They're just people on opposite sides, with the possibility for change.

And Cecelia isn't a "nice victim." She's harsh and stand off-ish, she isn't always kind. But you can understand why and it's clear Cecelia will grow as a character.

Also, added bonus, there's a side ship with Ned! I don't know, I just feel like Ned doesn't get the love he deserves.
