gaze for awhile !

SLOANE MINH HAS always been a big, ginormous bundle of nerves, paired with fluffy sweaters, chipped nail polish, and sad song lyrics. It's always been this way, she can't remember anything different. Her mind runs at a million miles a second at all times, with no bright red OFF! button in sight, and with this new . . . thing happening inside her, it's like, ten times worse, because overthinking is her favorite hobby, next to self-deprecation, thinking of unrealistic fantasies, and occasionally a little crocheting.

Sloane is really, truly nothing extraordinary, unless you count her filthy rich, tech mogul parents, and Ivy League-bound sister. But, that's not her-- it's her family, who are probably a million times more successful than she, a high school sophomore with a penchant for trouble and cream-cheese bagels, will ever be.

Ever since that explosion in her family's basement though, the one that her father claims was an accidental gas leak, things haven't been the same. Not in her home, where even more secrets seem to be brewing and not in herself, where that strange, powerful feeling in her soul just grows stronger by the minute. Her older brother's in the hospital now, and her parents are keeping her in the dark. But whatever! Sloane is fine— totally, perfectly fine.

And then, when Sloane Minh accidentally becomes texting buddies with none other than the friendly neighborhood spider-man (yeah, it's weird, she knows!), she doesn't exactly expect it. Not that she minds it! While it is a reminder of how painfully normal Sloane is (or so she thinks), she gets to be friends with a superhero, and it really doesn't get any cooler than that.

( Well, except maybe falling for that superhero. That's pretty cool too . . .)
