Part One: The Agumas: Jack
Jack kicked a small rock around in the red, muddy sand. They had come to a large, seemingly desolate planet, and he hoped that they wouldn't be there much longer. He was becoming horribly bored. "So how long is this test gonna take?"
Carter looked up at Jack and responded, "Not long, Sir. Just give me a few minutes."
He continued pacing for about fifteen minutes, thinking about why they were at PX-whatever. Carter said there was a possibility that this place was a Naquata gold-mine, and that it wasn't controlled by some Goa'uld System Lord. Carter's voice broke his thoughts. "Sir, could you, uh..."
Jack looked down and realized he created a circle in the sand around Carter, and that she was trying to ask him to quit pacing.
"Sorry."
He walked away towards where Daniel and Teal'c were waiting quietly. Daniel came up to him and asked, "Hey Jack, can I scout ahead a little ways? I want to see if I can find any signs of...life."
"Sure, go ahead. Just be careful and if you do find anything, tell me." He watched Daniel walk away, and prayed nothing bad would happen. It wasn't that he didn't trust Daniel, but he was a clutz. After talking to Daniel, he made his way over to where Teal'c was standing.
"There is no evidence of any Goa'uld on this planet."
"That's what Carter said. We might wanna keep a lookout though." Still, the whole place laid undisturbed.
All of the sudden, Jack heard Daniel yell. "Hey...Jack...you might wanna come see this!" The rest of SG-1 came running to see what was wrong. Daniel sat, shocked, in front of what looked to be a panel. It was flashing with four brightly colored lights, and the Colonel's first thought was danger. Bomb. "Get back!" He yelled, pushing Daniel forward and waving a hand towards the Stargate. Carter and Teal'c ran as fast as they could, unsure of when the device would go off.
When they had retreated a safe distance from the panel, they all stopped. They waited a few seconds, but nothing happened. Carter wore a puzzled expression. "Sir, I don't think it's an explosive."
She started to walk in the device's direction, and Jack called out, "Carter!"
She continued to walk and he cautiously followed her, hoping that she knew what she was doing. "Carter..."
The Major stooped down to touch the panel, and Jack prayed that it wasn't dangerous. He didn't know what he would do if anything happened to her.
