Chapter Seven: Jack: The Archives

Jack had went with Daniel to check out the archives. He didn't want him to stumble upon anything else, something that could hurt him.
They had met with Haman after a hearty breakfast; it was creepy how much the Agumas had in common with the humans. But that wasn't really what bothered Jack much, he was bothered by how much they knew about humans, especially SG-1. That was what bothered him. It didn't seem to bother Carter though. She had been so happy because of Dr. Slache's proposal. Now, Dr.Slache could exploit her many secrets to Carter. And here he was, with Daniel, looking through a bunch of old books.
"Hey Haman, I'm assuming the Agumas used to speak a different language?"
"Yes, at least our elders did. The language was taught along with the old rituals of our ancestors. Unfortunately, after the Great War, we were unable to do so."
"Hm...can you translate?" Daniel asked again.
"I can only understand a little, but I can try." The older man walked closer to Daniel, and began explaining the language to him.
"Oh, its like a variant of Goa'uld and Ancient."
"Yes. Now there are a few differences."
Daniel began to read, and as he went, he would ask Haman a few questions.
Jack grew impatient. "Anything of significance, Daniel?"
"I haven't found much, just what Diana has told us. Apparently the ancestors of the Agumas worshipped Ba'al until four young men proved to them that he was not a god, and they revolted against him."
"Four young men...hm."
"I know. Doesn't seem like much of a coincidence."
Daniel turned to Haman. "Do you mind if I borrow a few of these?" He asked, holding up a few books with titles Jack couldn't read.
Haman looked like he was deep in thought. "Go ahead, Dr. Jackson. Just make sure you return them."
Daniel smiled. "Thanks."

"You're sure you didn't find anything?" Jack asked, as they walked down the sidewalk. A group of kids frolicked next to their guardian, one loosing their toy.
"Naomi, be careful!" The woman shouted. The little trinket landed near Jack, who was waiting for Daniel's reply.
Jack bent down and picked up the odd trinket, giving it a good look-over. The little girl walked up to Jack very cautiously, and Jack smiled a little. "I believe this is yours?"
The little girl nodded. "Naomi," the woman spoke up. "Answer him."
"Yes sir. I am Naomi." She dipped her head. "And you are?" She asked.
"Jack O'Neill. Nice to meet you Naomi."
"I must say the same to you, sir. Thank you for recovering my toy to me."
"You're welcome." He responded. She walked back to her little group, blushing. Her friends elbowed her and whispered in her ears. She looked back at Jack.
"Good day, ma'am."
