It's regrets and remembrances and running away

but was it really so wonderful back then?

It's new smiles and soft laugh and shared moments

but that doesn't erase the old recollections entirely.

It's garish and grating and punctuated with goodbyes

but I'm happier now...at least I think I am?

It's frustrations and frugality and failing more often than not

but I've gained as well as lost.
