Walking Death
Our collective tour lead us to a sight to see! A march against victims of physical abuse! In other words, hundreds of people, dressed up as abuse survivors. Fake blood and face -paint, contributed to the storytelling, surrounding us. Instinctively I snuggled closer. He was the closest I came, to feeling protected.
"Maybe the fake blood and shattered clothes, are on the range here..." suggested Christina, clearly uneasy herself. Whatever the march represented, it definitely created an uncomfortable atmosphere. I loved her sense of humor.
"You never know! This can be a preview of Versace's newest collection, right before our eyes!" I giggle
"You guys, are aware this is a protest against silencing physical abuse victims, aren't you?"
"Of course, but it is disturbing nonetheless!"He adjusted, so we both have personal space, without having to let go of his grip on my, hand. "I read somewhere, that this is a regular event around here, this time of year," William explained, leaning closer to me, he whispered so only I can hear. "Personally, I'd much rather crash another wedding with you, any time!"
Taking in, the walking dead fear boiled in my blood. The make-up masters had managed to recreate to a level of perfection, wounds, bruises, open cuts, and even damaged skin patches. This scene would cost me my sleep for weeks! Flinching at the mere thought of horror movies, I was now walking in the middle of one...
The tonic of mixed smells, only a dense crowd could produce, was merciless on its own.
We strolled through, a selection of museums, gathered souvenirs, and snapped photos, creating a handful of memories... So little time, so much to do, and I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling, that the moment our plane lands back home tonight, everything will rewind to the lonely, distant used -to -be-s between us.
Filling a pit in my stomach, I stumble back to the hotel, with the excuse of packing my things. One glance at will tells me, that similar thoughts, torment him, too.
Yet here we were, seeking each other as a source of comfort, regardless that before this trip, we'd barely exchanged a total of five sentences.
