STARDUST challenge 2 (Book of Chaos)
"I thought that book said we were gonna be stuck like this for one day... not three weeks," Ian said as he opened the door to his upside-down house. Mai thumped her head against the wall.
"I can't stand this world anymore... I know I've always wanted to be stuck in a book... but why this one?" Mai said frustratedly.

Pause. You are probably wondering how this happened... and what's happening. Well... lets back up a few weeks to the start of our chaos.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ian, Mai, do you want to go to my house?" I asked as we walked back from school.
"Sure," Ian said as he readjusted his book-bag on his shoulder. Mai was to busy reading a book to know what I just said. I shook my head and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Mai—"
Mia's head shot up so fast her glasses slid down her face. She pushed them back up and pulled her jet, black hair out of her face, only for it to fall down again. She smiled shyly. "Yes?"
I repeated my question and she nodded as she looked back down at her book again. Ian shook his head and grabbed her book. "Hey—" Mai started.
"No," Ian said firmly as he walked behind Mai to put her book in her book-bag. She pouted but shrugged it off.
We then arrived at my house.
We immediately ran into my room which was in the attic. Mai immediately ran to my bookshelf. Ian facepalmed as I started laughing.
"Let me grab some snacks... I'll be right back," I said as I opened the attic door and folded out the ladder. I stepped down into the garage and ran into the kitchen. My dog, Guppy, barked at me. I pet him gently on the ears. He sneezed. I laughed and grabbed crackers and three sodas and took them back to the attic— my room.
I set the snacks neatly on my carpet. Ian joined me and immediately grabbed the soda. I laughed as Mai still sat at my bookshelf searching for a book. She then—
"I'm surprised, Ziyana, I never thought you read such thick books," Mai said as she slammed an extremely large book down on my carpet. It had blue sparkly stone in the middle. What kind of book is this?
Mai opened the book to find very little writing. She then flipped the page to find... nothing. She kept flipping the pages, but each page was blank.
"Now that's what I call reading," Ian said as he shoved a cracker into his mouth. I rolled my eyes as Mai flipped to the first page.
"Come look at this," She said. I grabbed Ian's arm and pulled him over to the book. Mai read aloud, "A story filled with chaos untold... an awakening to come, but now foretold. If read further, you will be stuck for one day, with twists in turns that go in more than one way." Mai took a deep breath and continued, "Enjoy tomorrow."
"Lame," Ian said as he laid down in the carpet. He blinked a couple times and massaged his head like he had a headache. Mai did the same for a second. I looked at her eyes that sparkled blue for a second... the same blue as the stone—
I immediately massaged my temples as a headache came. My eyes then felt watery. I blinked a couple times, then it went away. I glanced at the book.
Mai looked at Ian and asked, "What's lame about it?"
"It's probably some gag book from a toy store to scare little kids," Ian said as he grabbed his book-bag.
"You're leaving?" I asked.
"Yeah. My mom needs me to do chores at home. See ya," Ian said as he opened the door to the attic and stepped down the ladder.
"So... when did you get the book?" Mai asked as she traced around the stone with her finger.
"That's the thing... I don't remember buying it," I said as tilted my head studying the book. There was a buzzing noise coming from Mai's book-bag. She unzipped her bag and took out her phone.
"I have to go," She said as she got up and stepped down the ladder.
"Bye," I said. She waved from the bottom and then walked out of the garage.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I rubbed my eyes. "What?" I asked myself as I looked around my now hot pink sparkly room. I shuddered and got out of bed. I started walking toward the door. The door wasn't on the floor. Where is it? I looked around my room.
"Am I trapped in here?" I whispered. An idea hit me. "Mom!" I yelled.
"Yes?" My mom asked. I heard her voice coming from the ceiling... where my door was.
"How did... how are you... what did—"
"Are you going to come up for breakfast, Ziyana?" My mom asked.
"Yeah... can you pass down a ladder?" I asked. My mom shrugged and left. I scoffed. "Mom!" She didn't come back. I leaned on my wall—
"Ah!" I yelled as I fell on the floor. I looked and saw my bed on the wall... wait... I looked and saw the door on the ceiling was on a wall... or maybe... Am I on my wall? I got up and ran to the door. The minute I touched the door I fell through, forgetting it was open. I looked around my kitchen to see each wall a different color. I suddenly felt claustrophobic. I backed into a wall. The entire room flipped making that wall the floor. I heard a bark.
Guppy.
"Come here boy!" I called. A large guppy like fish swam toward me. I screamed and stood up. "Guppy?" I whispered. Guppy barked. "You're actually a guppy..."
I put my foot against what was the floor and is now a wall and made the house even again. I then ran to where my hallway would be... the hallway had flashing lights and created an optical illusion. I covered my eyes and ran into the hallway. I then ran into the front door. The house flipped as I landed on top of the door. I put my foot on the door handle. I then stepped back onto the hallway and grabbed the door handle with my hand and opened the door and...
It was nighttime.
But my mom said it was time for breakfast...
I stepped away from the door—
"Ah!" I screamed as I shut my eyes. I'm falling. I hit the ground. I opened my eyes and looked at my house. It was upside down. "Of course."
I then started running. I passed other people's houses that were upside down. Everything was so. Chaotic. I thought of the book. Just one day of this... that's all. Right?

Not right. So, Ziyana met up with Mai and Ian at school. They each had an equally ridiculous day... But they managed and soon went to sleep. Everything's fine right?
Wrong.
*Un-pauses film*
I woke up. Chaos is over... I took a deep breath and screamed as I opened my eyes. "What?" My room was still hot pink. I stepped out of bed and touched my wall. I fell onto it. I looked at the clock in the corner of my room. The numbers were written in a language I didn't understand. I shook my head and walked over to the door. I opened it and fell into my kitchen. So much chaos. Its okay... all I have to do is get through this day.

This happens everyday for the next three weeks... or the books version, one day.
"Hi Mai, hi Ian. Sorry I'm late, I had to take my pet fish on a walk," I said as I arrived at Ian's house.
"You're telling me... my cats are now lizards," Ian said. I opened my mouth to speak—
"Don't ask," He said. "Who has the book?" Mai stepped forward and gave it to Ian. Me and Mai grabbed the book from my house earlier. Ian glared at the book.
We walked inside his house and slammed the book onto the table. We opened the book to the first page.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"Well... everything is flopped right? Backwards?" Ian asked as he looked around.
"I think we have to read it backwards," Mai said bored.
"You sound like you knew this the entire time," I said as me and Ian stared at Mai.
"It's kinda obvious," Mai said as she read backwards. She finished reading—
THUMP!
I opened my eyes. I was in my attic. It was normal. Not pink. I started laughing. Mai and Ian woke up also and looked around. I then turned around and slapped Mai in the face.
"Why didn't you do that after day one?" I yelled. Mai rubbed her cheek and shrugged.
Ian just smiled wickedly. "What?" I asked.
Ian opened the door and ran down to the garage and came back up with a lighter. "Give me the book."

So... they got out of that... and yes... they burn the book, but did you know you are reading the same book right now?
