Chapter 3: A New Cast
I DO NOT OWN SVTFOE, GRAVITY FALLS OR THE OWL HOUSE. ALL RIGHTS AND OWNERSHIP BELONG TO DISNEY.
(Marco's POV)
The car pulls into the town of Gravesfield. The town is small, some would call it quaint or rustic. The autumn breeze blows past the trees, their leaves shades of red, orange and brown. People walking around are wrapped in coats and hats, and the entire vibe of the town if very autumnal. All of us get out of the car and grab our bags as we are dropped off in front of a bed and breakfast, the type found in most out of the way towns such as this. We go in and grab our room keys, a room each for Dipper, Mabel and Zach and then a double room for Star and I. I splashed out a bit to get the nicest room they had, since its technically our honeymoon and all. Me and Star head up to our room. I unlock the door and walk inside. The room is amazing, furnished with a cute rustic style. The window has a view straight across the town to the mountains in the distance. The sun is low in the sky, leaving an orange hue over the town that really exenterates its charming characteristics. I put my bags down on the floor by the bed then step back out the room as Star comes round the stairs. "The others are all sorting their rooms out.," She says. I take Star's bags off of her and put them next to mine before coming back out of the room and picking her up in a bridal carry. "What's all this about," she asks.
I carry her into our room. "Your Honeymoon Suite awaits." I gently lay her down on the bed as she takes in the room, looking at every inch of detail before heading over to the window to do the same for the town.
"This place is beautiful. I really missed earth, everything is always so peaceful and pretty."
I join her at the window. "Yeah its nice to be back." I turn to face Star. "So we have a reservation at a restaurant for all of us tonight, what do you want to do tomorrow?"
I Star continues to scan the town, before pointing at a building located on its own near a park. "I want to go there." I follow the path of her finger, seeing the building she is pointing at. The sign in front of it reads Gravesfield Historical Society. "They have a load of stuff there about the history of the town and the witches and stuff. It'll be really interesting."
"Then that is where we shall go." I start to unpack our stuff and put it into the wardrobes and drawers. Star continues to gaze in wonder at the town before her. I'm really glad she got to come here, it obviously meant a lot to her that we could take this trip. Once I finish unpacking I go up to Star and hug her from behind, placing my head on her shoulder. "Its time to meet the others for food. You ready to go?"
"Of course, lets go."
Star pulls herself away from the window and we head down to the lobby area where Zach, Dipper and Mabel were waiting. Dipper is writing something in his journal and Mabel and Zach are discussing something next too him. "All I'm saying," Zach continues, "is that if it came down to it, I feel you could use glitter to kill a man."
Mabel looks confused. "How did we get here? I just wondered what you thought of my new glitter jacket."
"Oh, sorry. Yeah it looks nice."
Dipper looks up from his journal and sees me and Star approach the group. "Ah, you're here. Ready to go?"
Star and I nod. We all leave the building and start the short walk to the restaurant a few streets away. As we walk through the town, we take the time to enjoy the scenery around us. Dipper continues to write in his journal of course, looking intently at every building he passes. As we arrive at the restaurant we are seated in a booth in the back. We order, our food arrives, and we enjoy our time together. Mabel looks up from her plate. "So what are you guys planning on doing tomorrow?"
"Star wants to go check out the Historical Society, so we are gonna hang out around there, see what there is to it. You guys wanna come?"
"The historical society?" Dipper flips his journal to a page and puts it in the middle of the table. "That place is covered in weird sightings." He points to some newspaper cut-outs he had stuck to the pages, each one having the Historical Society referenced in the headline. "See here, they had issues with the person who used to run it. He claimed to have captured some form of shape shifting demon called a Basilisk, but no one believed him. The society is also full of recordings from the towns past which could lead to insight in the recent weirdness sightings."
"Dipper is for sure coming then." Star turns to the other two. "What about you guys?"
Zach looks across the table. "I said I'd help Dipper with the mystery hunting, so I'm in. Mabel?"
"I'm just happy to hang out, doesn't matter where."
Star raises her glass. "So that settles it, tomorrow we are off the Gravesfield Historical Society." The group clink their glasses together and a loud "cheers" rings out from the table.
"Sorry, I couldn't help overhearing. Are you guy's talking about the Historical Society?" The voice comes from the booth behind me. I turn around to see who's speaking and am met with a girl, not too much younger than me, looking into our booth from hers. She has black hair, which has been cut into a bob, and brown eyes. Her t-shirt has the letters G.H.S printed on it.
Star also turns around to see who was speaking. "Yes we were, our group was going go take a look at it tomorrow."
The new girl smiles a big toothy grin, revealing a tooth gap between her two front teeth. "What a coincidence. I currently run the Historical Society." She gestures to her t-shirt, the letters now clearly standing for Gravesfield Historical Society, and she traces he finger under the word staff just bellow them. "I just came here for some food after closing up for the day."
"That is a coincidence." Star smiles back, somehow an even bigger smile than this new girl has presented. "I'm Star Diaz, its nice to meet you." Star holds out her hand.
"Nice to meet you too Star, the name's Masha." Masha takes Star's hand and shakes it. "And this," she says as she gestures over to the other person sitting in the booth with her, "is my partner Vee."
Vee looks around the same age as Masha. She has green hair that becomes blue towards the tips and eyes that are mix of orange and yellow. A strange eye colour but a stylish choice none the less. She looks up from her phone and gives a small wave before becoming engrossed once again in it.
Back in the booth, Dipper nudges Zach's arm. "That Vee girl," he whispers. "She looks familiar."
"How could that be," Zach whispers back. "You just got here. Maybe you saw her outside on the walk over. Could just be a Deja Vu type deal."
Dipper leans back into his seat. "You're probably right."
Star continues to talk to Masha. "This is my husband Marco," she gestures to me, "and these three are our friends Zach, Dipper and Mabel."
"That's cool, nice to meet you all." She waves and the three reciprocate. "It's pretty obvious you're from out of town, so what brings the five of you down to the small town of Gravesfield."
"Well, its technically mine and Marco's honeymoon."
Masha puts her hands to her cheeks. "Oh congratulations you two."
"Thank you very much, but we've been married a few months already, we just never got the chance to get away. I'm really into the whole history of witches thing you guys have around here so I decided we needed to come." Star grabs my arm and squeezes it gently. "Plus your town is really romantic, a quaint and quiet tuck away."
"Well you got that right, plus you came at just the right time of year. Autumn is when the town looks its best." Masha turns back to Vee. "I'm also really into the history, its why I run the society after all. Me and Vee met there as well." She turns back to Star. "So how come you brought friends on your honeymoon, surely you'd want to just be with each other?"
"We'll as I said, Marco and I have been married for a few months already, plus we work together as well. This isn't a traditional honeymoon and since we are so busy we don't get to see our friends very often. So we decided it would be fun if they came as well, use it as excuse for us all to spend time together."
Masha puts he hands back on the seat. "That's really cool of you." She thinks for a second. "Tell you what, how about tomorrow you guys come to the Historical Society and I give you all a guided tour on the house, as a wedding gift."
Star's eyes light up. "You would do that for us?"
"Of course. Its nice to see people coming to the town. Plus not many people stop by the Society nowadays so I'll be sure to have the time."
Star gives Masha a hug, as if they had known each other for years and not just the span of this conversation. "Oh thank you thank you thank you."
Masha gets released from Star's grip and giggles before turning to face Vee who is pointing to something on her phone. "Oh shoot, we're late." She turns back to Star. "Its no problem at all. Me and Vee have to head off now, but it was lovely meeting all of you. Look forward to seeing you again tomorrow."
Star waves as the pair exit the restaurant hand in hand, and turns back towards the group in the booth. "They seemed nice. Plus, we now have a guided tour of the historical society. This is better than I could have hoped."
We all finish our food and pay the bill, then embark on the walk back to the bed and breakfast. During the walk, Dipper keeps poring over his journal and looking frustrated. Mabel walks up beside him. "What the matter Dip? You look all out of sorts."
"I know I recognise that Vee girl from somewhere, I just can't put my finger on it."
Zach walks up behind Dipper and peers into the journal. "I told you, it's just Deja Vu. Besides, even if you did recognise her, she wouldn't be in that book of yours. You're the one writing it, you would know if they were there.
"That's true." Dipper closes he journal and puts it into his Jacket pocket just as all of us reach the bed and breakfast. "Its just bugging me is all."
The gang separate towards their respective rooms as Star and I head towards ours. We climb into bed and sleep with heads full of dreams, excited for what tomorrow's adventure will bring.
