Introduction - One
×3rd person's pov×
Practicing. Yes, that's how Yeonjun's day started every day. No, he wasn't tired, he loved it. But he just wanted something.
Something that would change his life just a little. Break this monotonous routine. He didn't have something specific in mind. He just needed something. Anything.
The cavernous practice room hummed with the low thrum of the sound system. Yeonjun, bathed in the soft glow of strategically placed spotlights, stood poised in the center of the vast space.
He'd chosen a song by a relatively unknown artist - a melancholic melody with a driving beat that resonated deep within him.
It wasn't a song he'd perform on stage, but it spoke to him, a quiet counterpoint to the thunderous anthems that filled his public performances.
He pressed play, the opening notes filling the room. His fingers, usually nimble across a microphone, now traced the air, mimicking the song's emotional arc.
Then, he moved. The initial hesitations melted away as he surrendered to the music.
It wasn't just dancing; it was storytelling - a narrative woven with fluid grace, sharp precision, and an almost unsettling intensity.
Every muscle, every sinew, seemed to understand the song's language, translating its emotions into breathtaking physicality. He was a whirlwind of controlled energy, a storm contained within the elegant lines of his body.
Unseen, Beomgyu slipped into the room. He stood near the far wall, a silhouette against the vastness of the practice room, his gaze fixed on Yeonjun.
He watched, captivated, as his best friend poured his soul into the performance. He loved watching Yeonjun dance. There was a raw honesty in the movement, a vulnerability that was absent from the carefully crafted persona of the star.
The music ended, the silence that followed broken only by the faintest echo of the final note.
Yeonjun, sweat clinging to his skin, stood still for a moment, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. It was only then he noticed Beomgyu. A flicker of concern crossed his face.
"Beomgyu? What's wrong?"
He asked, his voice softer than the usual booming tones he employed on stage. Beomgyu shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Nothing's wrong, hyung. I just... I wanted to watch you dance."
His voice was low, almost a murmur, and a soft smile touched Yeonjun's perfectly shaped lips.
"Come closer."
He said, gesturing towards the enormous, clean mirror that dominated one wall.
"Come sit in front of the mirror, so you can see better."
"I don't want to distract you."
"Nonsense. Just sit in the corner there."
The relief on Beomgyu's face was palpable. He didn't often get to see Yeonjun practice like this; the demands of their respective careers rarely allowed for such intimate moments.
Beomgyu was faster than he expected, however. Before Yeonjun could even fully process the instruction, Beomgyu had launched himself onto his back, straddling him like a playful monkey.
"Thank you, hyung!"
He exclaimed, wiggling and shifting Yeonjun slightly left and right. Yeonjun laughed, a low rumble in his chest.
"Easy, Beomgyu, you almost knocked me over!"
Beomgyu giggled, sliding off Yeonjun's back and settling onto the corner of the room, his eyes shining with happiness. He watched as Yeonjun selected one of his own songs, a powerful track with complex choreography.
As he started to sing and dance, a different energy filled the room - the precision and power of a global star. Yet, even here, in the midst of this polished performance, the vulnerability remained.
Yeonjun noticed Beomgyu's focus, the rapt attention in his eyes. It fueled him, giving him a different kind of stage presence. To Beomgyu, he wasn't a star; he was just Yeonjun, his best friend.
When the music faded, he reached for the water bottle on the floor, taking a long drink, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
He went over and sat down next to Beomgyu, the space between them blurring in the comfortable silence.
"How was it?"
He asked, his voice still a little breathless. Beomgyu grinned, before easily answering Yeonjun's question.
"Amazing, hyung. Absolutely amazing."
