Chapter 6
Nikita sighed as he rested his head on the wall of his cell. He had been here for about 3 days now since he was captured by the soldiers at the Jedi Temple. So far, nothing interesting has happened, other than the fact that he had been in his cell during the entire 3 days, and was never allowed to exit it. The cell wasn't much, as it had a single bed, a toilet and a yellow laser barrier that kept him in the cell and preventing him from leaving the cell. Because he was a prisoner, he had to wear an orange jumpsuit that had the numbers identifying him as prisoner number 899985 on the back of the prisoner jumpsuit he had to wear.
And it's not as if he could walk out of the cell and walk around the prison anyway. There were hundreds, if not thousands of cells just like his. He learned that he was in the imperial Judiciary Central Detention center. It was a high-security prison that was once controlled by the Republic and used to hold High-Level prisoners during the the clone wars, but then the empire came to power and now they were using the prison to hold their own prisoners inside it. When he looked outside, he could see that the prison was really deep, and seemed bottomless. Other than that, he had no idea of what the rest of the prison looked like, as he had been in this cell for the whole 3 days that he was locked inside the prison. The imperials didn't take his backpack away, as they found nothing that Nikita could use as a weapon or tool to try to escape the prison.
"Not like I'm planning to escape, anyway." He muttered as he stood up and went to the bed, sitting on it and placed his hands together. His backpack was below the bed, and so far he hadn't taken anything out of it. He was feeling so bored. Due to him being in his cell for so long and not being allowed out of it, there wasn't anything that he could do to keep himself entertained. He tried to request to go to the library to pick some books that he could read, the guards, who he learned were named stormtroopers, refused his request. He supposed that he could understand why that was the case. He was by far the youngest prisoner ever set in this prison, and as far as he was aware, the only reason why he was in here was due to a special request from someone in the higher-up ranks. He didn't know who it was or what was so special about him, but he supposed that eventually he would discover why he was here in the first place. For now, he decided to lay on the bed and stare at the ceiling, kicking his legs about lazily as he closed his eyes, going to sleep. Considering that he couldn't do anything in his cell, sleeping was the only thing he could do.
"You. Wake up." He heard a voice call out, hearing the loud noise of someone bashing something against the wall. Nikita blinked and opened his eyes, rubbing them as he stared at the ceiling for a bit, before looking at where the noise came from. He could see three people on a transport platform that could barely hold 4 people on it. It had a railing so the people on the transport platform didn't fall off to their deaths at the bottom of the prison, assuming it had a bottom. For all he knew, the prison was bottomless. He then turned his attention to the 3 people on the transport platform as he stood up from the bed to look at them; two stormtroopers with red markings on their shoulders, wielding electric staffs . He looked at the other imperial, who was wearing a grey uniform consisting of a double-breasted tunic with a round collar and matching trousers and a pair of black boots, along with black gloves to cover his fingers. He could see the officer had black hair and green eyes, staring intensely at Nikita's brown eyes, the two locked in a brief staring contest until the officer snapped out of it and took out a card he was carrying, swiping it down on the console that was connected to Nikita's cell, before pressing something on it, causing the yellow laser barrier to fade, causing Nikita to look at the officer in confusion at what was going on.
"I will not repeat myself. Get up and come with me." The officer barked at Nikita. This caused Nikita to wonder what was going on, as nothing interesting had happened ever since he had entered this cell. Why was he getting out of his cell now? No imperials bothered to visit him, but only now was he not only getting a visit, but also moving out of his cell? Nikita shook his head and decided he'll find out the answers later as he got out of bed and went to the officer, stepping on the transport platform behind him, seeing one of the guards enter the room and pick up his backpack, before coming back to the transport platform and standing behind Nikita, the barrier that previously kept Nikita inside the cell returning. The officer then pressed a few buttons on the console that the transport platform had and the transport platform started to move back to the larger roundabout platform that was located in the middle of the structure, where there was a lift that took him down here in the first place, and where you could see all the prisoners and cells. The transport platform gently parked next to the larger platform, the officer exiting it as he turned around and motioned for Nikita to follow him with his hand, with the stormtrooper that was holding his backpack giving it to him. Mouthing a thanks, Nikita exited the transport platform and followed the officer to the lift, while the two red stormtroopers got off the transport platform and stood attention at the lift. After waiting for a bit, the lift appeared.
"Where am I being taken?" Nikita asked the officer once they entered the lift and started to go up, presumably to the surface of Coruscant. He put his backpack on and secured it, looking at the officer who had his hands behind his back and was standing straightened, staring intensely at the exit of the lift.
"I'm not allowed to say where you are being taken or what will happen to you. Although I will warn you. The person that I'm about to give over to you is not a very nice person. You might find him a bit scary as well. I suppose that's why he wears that suit. To scare and terrify his enemies and allies, I'm guessing. Although I will not deny that his terror is very effective." The officer told the young boy a bit about who was going to be taking him over as he chuckled lightly, although Nikita heard it, but decided not to comment on it. The two did not make a noise afterwards, which made the ride quite awkward. Eventually what felt like an eternity, the elevator finally stopped and the door opened. Nikita carried his eyes as he saw daylight, which nearly blinded. He walked forward, following the officer. As he followed the officer, he could hear heavy breathing from something, or more accurately, from someone. He wasn't sure why, but he was feeling sick. Even though he was perfectly fine, as he didn't have any injuries as far as he was aware, he felt something truly awful. No words could describe this horrible feeling that he was experiencing as he placed his hand near his stomach, as if he was about to vomit on the floor. Thankfully, he was able to hold it in, although the sickness he was feeling was still there, as if it was like the black death itself.
"Lord Vader. I have got the boy, as you requested. Although I fail to see what is so special about him. He is just a child." The officer was talking to himself as Nikita was behind him, trying not to faith and to hold it together, even though it was nearly impossible.
"It is not your place to question the orders of the Emperor. He specifically requested that the boy be brought to him. I shall take it from here." The voice replied to the officer. It sounded deep, metallic, almost like from a machine. Judging by the way that whoever or whatever was speaking the way that it did, Nikita guessed that it was most likely a machine. There was no way that a human would be able to sound like that. But the feeling he felt the most when he heard that voice was intimation and fear. It sounded downright haunting, like a creature from a nightmare. The officer nodded and walked away. Nikita could see that the being was at least 2 meters tall, and it was wearing a black cape. In fact, the figure was wearing completely black. For a few seconds, all Nikita could hear from the being was the heavy breathing from the figure, whatever it was. Eventually, it seemed to notice him and turned around to see him face to face. When Nikita saw what the figure truly looked like, he nearly fainted out of sheer terror and fear he felt when he saw the creature before him.
Stood before him was what looked like a cyborg either from one of those horror stories that he had heard when he was a young child or from hell itself. The cyborg standing at least 2 meters high was wearing black armor. He could see that the cyborg had a belt around its waist, along with some buttons on it. He wasn't sure what the buttons did, but he was not ready to find out what they did. As well as that, he saw a thin Cylinder object on its belt, although he wasn't sure what it was. He had to guess that it was a lightsaber, as he remembered what his father's lightsaber looked like, along with his mother's double-bladed lightsaber. He could also see whatever the creature was also had black boots and gloves as well, the latter was crossed across the creature's chest. On its chest, he saw what looked like a control panel on it, seeing multiple buttons on it as well. As well as that, he saw an armored plate around its upper chest and shoulders. But what made the creature before him so terrifying was its mask. It had a raised ridge that ran from between its eyes, assuming that they were even eyes, considering that they were blood red. The mask looked like a skull. The top of the mask seemed to be crowned with a circular interface dotted with an array of square slots around a disc of silver. Two less jagged ridges swept over the eyes of it's mask proper and served to accent them.
"Come with me. The emperor has been waiting to meet you for a long time." The creature finally spoke after two minutes. It seemed that this creature, 'Vader' as Nikita remembered the officer addressing it as he looked up at Vader, with Vader walking towards a speeder with a driver and co-driver that was on the right of where Nikita was standing. He saw that these soldiers also had red markings on their shoulders. Gulping nervously, Nikita followed Vader, getting on the transport and sitting behind the driver, while Vader was standing in the middle, with his arms crossed across his chest, looking far into the city of Coruscant as if he was searching for someone. Nikita rubbed his throat as he looked around the city, seeing so many buildings around him. No wonder people referred to the planet as the queen of the core. It was a ecumenopolis planet, a city planet. Everywhere you looked, you would see buildings everywhere of all sizes. He didn't know what was the population of the planet, but he guessed probably hundreds of billions of beings from all across the galaxy.
After what felt like an hour of driving, but in reality only 10 minutes, the speeder stopped and seemed to park next to what looked like a palace. Nikita looked up, seeing how massive the building was. He also saw what looked like the senate building on the left side of the palace. The palace was nearly as massive as the senate building. Shaking his head, he felt Vader's hand on his shoulder before he was forced to exit the speeder. Once they exited, the speeder drove away. Nikita didn't admit it, but he felt a chill up his spine when he felt Vader's hand on his shoulder. He then felt Vader gently pushing him, making him move forward, before climbing up the grand stairs, with Vader behind him as they climbed, making sure that he did what Vader wanted and continue climbing, while at the same time to ensure that he could easily stop Nikita if he tried to run. By the time they got to the top of the stairs, Nikita was out of breath, panting heavily as he wiped the sweat from his face, while Vader seemed completely fine, as if climbing the stairs did not take the breath out of him.
"Forward. The Emperor is inside." Vader ordered him as Nikita continued walking forward, making his tired legs go forward, despite the protests they were sending to him. Nikita was also panting heavily as they entered the palace. As they walked through the halls, they went by many people, who looked at Nikita in curiosity, wondering who this boy was and what he was doing in the palace with Vader behind him. This only lasted a few seconds though as they went by the pair, most likely to attend their own businesses.
Nikita did not know how long they were walking, but after what felt like an hour of walking around, they reached a massive door, with two crimson figures standing on either side of the door. Nikita guessed that these were guards of some type, as they were standing still as statues, wielding pikes. He could see the guard were wearing scarlet robes and helmets, with a black visor. The guards noticed Nikita and Vader, although they did not make a move. Instead, the door opened, revealing a auditorium that had curved walls and a number of stations, and seemed to be divided into two sections. He could see stormtroopers standing at attention and guarding the auditorium, with a number of them on the stations. At the end of the Auditorium, he could see an apse that contained what looked like a throne, perched atop a dais. He could also see more of the scarlet guards standing on the apse, and thought he could see someone sitting on the throne, although he was not sure.
Due to how long he was walking, he had to guess for at least an hour, as the climbing the stairs took only 5 minutes, but walking around the palace to find this room took nearly 15 minutes, his legs felt really tired and wanting to give out. But he was determined to not give up, taking deep breaths to try to calm his mind as once again, he and Vader started to walk forward again, entering the auditorium and walking towards what looked like the throne room. Thankfully, it didn't last too long, as they were now standing in front of the throne room.
If the feeling that Nikita had with Vader was bad, it was nearly ten times worse as the throne chair turned around and he saw the being that was on the chair.
And what he saw would haunt him for the rest of his life.
