Chapter 1
"Are you sure, this is a good idea?" She asked him as she placed her hands on her stomach while looking at him.
It was night-time on Lothal. The woman, who had light skin, light brown hair and gray eyes and was wearing a brown sleeping robe, looked at her husband who was leaning on the balcony and looking out over the horizon with a troubled look on his face. The man also had light skin, purple skin and had dark hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants. The two were sleeping in peace in their bedroom until the man was woken up by a nightmare, and left the bed to go outside and not disturb. At first, the woman didn't notice that her husband was missing, but the force was telling her that he was missing. At first, she panicked and ran outside to the balcony, but she was barely unable to run due to the fact that she was pregnant with a child. Her fears were thankfully calmed when she saw her husband on the balcony, but she grew concerned when she saw that he had a worried look on his face. This was worrying, as the man was waking up nearly daily at night due to the nightmares, visions he was experiencing and his experiences from the past before the Jedi wiped his memory. By this stage, he had fully recovered his memories and remembered nearly everything.
The couple in question were Revan and Bastila Shan. The former was famous or infamous depending on your viewpoint, for his role in defeating the mandalorians during the mandalorian wars, a brutal war between the republic and the Mandalorians that lasted about 16 years, while the latter was famous for her role in helping win the Jedi Civil war with her Battle Meditation ability that could increase her allies' morale while demoralizing her enemies and bringing Revan back to the light side.
At first, the Jedi refused to get involved in the Mandalorian wars, as they were still recovering from the sith wars that occurred 2 decades earlier that resulted in a large amount of jedi dead, but Revan disagreed with the decision, and he, along with other similarly like-minded Jedi, the most notable Jedi to join Revan were Malak and Meetra Surik, broke away from the order to join the republic in their fight against the Mandalorians, naming themselves the Revanchist. Other Jedi, however, did not agree with Revan and sided with the Jedi council. Bastila was among the Jedi that sided with the Jedi Council and did not join Revan and the Revanchist.
The Revanchist would go on to fight for the republic in the war and would then win the Mandalorian wars at the battle of Malachor V, the last battle of the Mandalorian wars. Revan, in secrecy and without the knowledge of anyone but himself and his ally Meetra Surik, developed the mass shadow generator, a super weapon he deployed onto Malachor itself, luring the Mandalorians to Malachor for one final battle. When activated, the Mass shadow generator pulled a significant portion of both the Republic and Mandalorian fleets that were caught in orbit of the planet into a vast gravity vortex that was powerful enough to crush the countless ships into the planet's crust and fracture Malachor V to its very core. After this devastating activation from the Mass Shadow Generator, Malachor V was a graveyard of countless Mandalorian and Republic warships in what remained of its remains. All that remained on the surface of the planet was a desolate graveyard echoing with the deaths of thousands of Jedi, Republic soldiers, and Mandalorians. It was littered with destroyed vessels. But the effect was undeniable. The Mandalorians unconditionally surrendered to the Republic and the Mandalorian wars were over. The Republic had won the Mandalorian wars, but at an enormous price.
But afterwards, Revan and Malak, and what remained of their forces pursed the Mandalorians to the Unknown Regions. Nobody knows what they encountered, what happened to them, but regardless of what happened, Revan, Malak and their followers returned from the unknown regions as sith. They declared a new sith empire and with the help of the star forge, went to war against the Jedi order and the republic that they had saved nearly a year ago in what would become the Jedi civil war. During the war, the Jedi set a trap in order to either capture or kill Revan and Malak. Bastila Shan, who stood alongside the Jedi council and did not join Revan in his rebellion against the Jedi, was a member of the strike team that was able to board Revan's ship. Bastila and the three Jedi who accompanied her were able to corner Revan on his ship's bridge, but at that moment, Malak, who was on another ship, betrayed his master and fired his ship's guns on his master. The resulting blast killed the Jedi that accompanied Bastila and nearly killed Revan, but Bastila was able to save his life using the force, and thus forming a bond with Revan. After the ambush, Bastila brought Revan back to the Jedi. The Jedi council wiped Revan's mind and reprogrammed it with a new identity, hoping that he would be able to lead them to the star forge. A year after this, the sith ambushed the ship that Bastila and unknown to them Revan was on above Taris. The two, joined by Carth Onasi, crash-landed on Taris, where Bastila was captured by a local gang, and Carth and Revan narrowly avoided being captured by the sith. The two were later able to free Bastila with the help of T3-M4, Mission Vao and Zaalbar. The crew then met Canderous Ordo, a Mandalorian War Veteran who became a Mercenary after the War and ended up working as a mercenary on Taris. Canderous would later help the group steal the Ebon Hawk, which they used to barely escape the sith bombardment on Taris led by Malak himself.
Following this, the group went to Dantooine, where Revan was able to be trained as a Jedi again. After completing his trails, including managing to save Juhani, a Jedi who fell to the dark side and finding a star map not too far from the temple, the Jedi Council assigned the group with the mission of finding the star maps that would lead to the location of the star forge on the planets Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan and Korriban, the homeworld of the sith. During the quest, the crew got more members in the form of Jolee Bindo, a Jedi who fought in the Great sith war and ended up in Kashyyyk and HK-47, an assassin droid build by Revan himself after the Mandalorian wars to assassinate the enemies of Revan. HK was damaged during an assassination mission and ended up losing his memories, like his master. HK eventually found his way to Tatooine, where Revan bought him and HK joined the crew.
Eventually, after finding nearly all the star maps that would lead to the star forge, Malak caught up with Revan and Bastila, revealing to Revan that the council wiped his identity and reminding him who he was and capturing Bastila, who he tortured for a week before she fell to the dark side and joined Malak. After escaping from Malak's ship, Revan and the crew recovered the last star map on Korriban. Once all the star maps were recovered, they traveled to to the planet Lehon, where the star forge was located. After encountering Bastila Malak was defeated and the star forge was destroyed, and the republic won the Jedi civil war.
After the war, Revan and Bastila became married, despite the Jedi council disagreeing with their marriage. At first the two lived on Coruscant slightly away from the Jedi temple, where the Jedi Council, despite disapproving of their marriage, agreed to let them be married as long as Revan didn't spread his philosophy to the rest of the Order. Revan, however, wanted to live on another planet, somewhere where the wars hadn't touched the planet yet, and he wanted to get away from the Jedi and have a peaceful life. Also, he had discovered that Bastila was pregnant, and he guessed that their child would have a very powerful connection to the force, due to the child being the offspring of two very powerful Jedi, and he didn't want to give up his child to the Jedi. Instead, he and Bastila left the planet and settled on Lothal, a planet that was thankfully not touched by either the Mandalorian wars or the Jedi civil war. The two bought a house that was made out of wood out in the wilderness and there was nature everywhere, but at the same time it was close to the capital city so if they needed to buy supplies. A few months after they build their house, Bastila gave birth to a son, and they decided to name their son Nikita, who had fair skin like his parents, brown hair like his mother and light brown eyes. As Revan had predicted, Nikita had a very strong sensitivity to the force, even at birth. Revan theorized that eventually in the future, Nikita might be as strong, if not stronger in the force than himself. However, even though he wanted a peaceful live and care for his family, slowly but surely, memories of his past came back to him during the two years of the peaceful life he had lived with his family. As well as that, Bastila had become pregnant again, and she was about 2 months pregnant. Nikita was about 2 years old by this point, and he was sleeping in his bedroom at the moment, completely unaware what was going on between his parents.
"Look. I know that this is hard, to understand. I know I promised you, that I would be with you and our son after the war, that I wouldn't go on anymore crazy adventures. But now that my memories are back and I remember what happened. I can't just ignore the threat that I encountered when me and Malak went into the unknown regions. I have to do this. Alone." Revan nodded as he turned around and looked at Bastila.
"Please, Revan. I'm begging you. Stay here. Inform the Jedi and Republic. I'm sure that they can help you." She argued with him, trying to convince him to bring backup, but Revan shook his head as he looked at the ground.
"I can't. The republic is still in a horribly weakened state after the two wars. I'm taking T3-M4 with me. But first, I have to help Canderous to find the mask of Mandalore that I stored away out of the Mandalorians' grasp after the Mandalorian wars. And then I'll search the source of my nightmares." Revan tried to tell her and place a hand on her cheek, but Bastila slapped his hand away as she looked at him with anger but also sadness as tears were forming in her eyes
"I can't believe you, Revan. You promised me that after the war, we would get married. We would settle down away from all this. From the Jedi, the republic, the galaxy. We would have children and live a normal, happy life. We wouldn't give our children to the Jedi order and let them live normal lives, with us. And only join the republic and Jedi if the galaxy is threatened again. And yet off you go again, serving the galaxy at the cost of your own happiness. Do I mean nothing to you? Do our children mean nothing to you, Revan? Does our marriage mean nothing to you?" Bastila asked him as she looked at him, starting to cry as she turned her back to him, covering her face with her hands. She was angry and upset that Revan always insisted at serving the galaxy at the cost of his own happiness, and felt he was ignoring her and his own family.
Revan sighed as he looked down, feeling a tear forming in his eye. Bastila wasn't entirely wrong about the fact that he was always helping the galaxy at the cost of his happiness. If only he could explain to her what he was experiencing in his nightmares, then maybe she would understand why he was doing this. He didn't want to do this, but felt like no one would understand him or not believe him, not even his own wife. His son was far too young to understand what was going on. Revan looked up and looked at Bastila who was still crying. He placed his hands on her waist and turned her around, gently wrapping his arms around her and making sure that he didn't hurt her, rubbing her back as Bastila continued to cry on his shirt. He placed his hands on her back and rubbed it gently, trying to calm her.
"Look. I know, that you don't like me doing this. And believe me. I don't, either. I wish there was another way. I wish I didn't have to do this. But I have to. I'm doing this not just for the galaxy. I'm doing this for you and our children. I'm doing this to protect you. If I don't confront this nightmare that I've been experiencing. Then I don't even want to image what will happen to not just the galaxy, the republic and Jedi, but to you and our children as well if I don't do this." Revan tried to convince her as he rubbed her back, letting her cry on his shirt. She continued to cry for a while, but eventually she calmed down, breathing heavily as she looked at Revan.
"Surely you can contact the others. The ones that were with us, to come with you." Bastila told him that maybe he could get the others from the crew to join him on his quest.
"I can't call the others. Bindo and Juhani are still Jedi, Carth, Vao and Zaalbar are hard at work with their business, and you know how HK-47 is. He's way too trigger-happy for this. And I can't take you because you're pregnant with our child." He explained as he hugged her gently and rubbed her long brown hair gently, "I'm planning on leaving tomorrow. I'm going on the Ebon Hawk. HK's stored inside the ship. I don't know when I'll be back. Or if I'll be back. But promise me this. If I don't return. Don't come looking for me. Please, Bastila. I'm begging you." He asked her as he rubbed her hair and looked at her.
Bastila sighed as she nodded, terrified at the possibility of never seeing her husband again, but understanding.
"Let's go back inside. To bed." Revan suggested as he took Bastila's hand and started to take her back to the bed. Bastila kept quite as they laid back on the bed. She started to close her eyes, ready to go back to sleep until Revan told her something.
"And. One more thing. Before I forget. There's a temple here on Lothal. It's not too far from here. If the galaxy is being threatened again by the sith, or if you are in danger and our children. Take Nikita to the temple, and take our other child into hiding with you. There's this thing called the world between worlds in the temple. I don't know what it is, or how it works. But I know it from reading Jedi texts that mention it, although barely. It's said to be this thing that exists between space and time. Can you check out it, please?" Revan asked Bastila, as in the event that he would not return, he wanted his children and wife to be safe.
"Alright. I'm doubtful that this thing even exists. But I'll check it out. See if it exists." Bastila nodded and promised to him, kissing him gently as Revan wrapped his arms around her and the two Jedi went to sleep together in bed for the last time.
