Chapter Twenty-Four: Crashlanding

A/N: Okay you guys so this is the last chapter of this book. Please don't kill me.

Anakin was lying on a bed in the small room that he shared with Ace, who was in the cockpit with Mekhi flying the Twilight. It had been two hours since they escaped Coruscant and the med droid on the ship had taken care of his leg.

Anakin sighed running his hand through his hair and thought about the jedi that died today. And the first person Anakin had fallen in love with but was forbidden to be with her because of who she was and who he was...Padmè. She was dead. She was really dead and Obi Wan had killed her.

Anakin felt tears well up in his eyes as he started to cry. Everyone was dead. All of the Jedi who had helped Anakin in the past were dead. And there was no way to bring them back. Tears spilled over his cheeks as he thought about Padmè and her beautiful smile, her laugh, her eyes, her voice....

A sob escaped his lips and he rolled over onto his side, curling up into a fetal position. Padmè was dead, his mother was dead, Windu and Plo were dead, Ahsoka was probably dead too. Everyone Anakin knew or had ever loved was dead except for the people aboard the Twilight. Even though he still had people like Alia and Ace, the people who basicallt helped raise him were dead.

Obi Wan was dead too...in a way. He'd lost sight of the light and started down the path of the dark side and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Obi Wan had almost killed him too but there was something that stopped him. Despite what Obi Wan had done and was doing at this very moment, Anakin knew there was still good in the man who raised him. There had to be.

Anakin's crying soon ceased as he realized crying wouldn't honor Padmè's last words. Honor a promise he vowed to keep. He'd keep these children safe no matter what was thrown his way. He wouldn't back down and he would never stop fighting.

The ship suddenly lurched violently as something made impact with it; the force of the impact flung Anakin off the bed and onto the floor. Groaning, he climbed to his feet and made his way out of the room and to the bridge. He stopped behind Ace's chair, resting his hand on his boyfriend's shoulder.

"What's going on?!"

Mekhi flipped a bunch of switches while Ace checked the monitors and said, "We're under fire. It seems to be a separtist ship..." Mekhi trailed off as he checked the monitor screen again and frowned. "Anakin...we're recieving some kind of transmission."

Anakin glanced down at the transmission light indicator that was blinking steadily. He bit his lip, unsure if he should have them answer. Shaking his head Anakin nodded.

"Answer it."

Ace nodded and flipped a switch that had obviously been blocking it before answering. Anakin waited a few seconds and then an image of Obi Wan came into view along with Palpatine. That fucking snake!

"Anakin, I don't want to hurt you so just surrender. We'll spare your friends if you just--"

"You already hurt me Obi Wan. More than once." Anakin told him narrowing his eyes.

"Just kill them all." Palpatine demanded.

"Shut the fuck up you lying ass traitorous bastard!" Anakin swore, glaring at the man in the transmission. "No one asked you for your fucking opinion."

The strange thing was at the same time Anakin said that, Obi Wan pulled his saber on Palpatine and said calmly, "We will not harm Anakin."

Anakin glanced at Ace and Mekhi before looking back at the transmission. "So let us go. Either you let us go or we fight back and you have no choice to kill me along with everyone on this ship."

Obi Wan shook his head almost sadly. "We can't do that. Just because I don't want to kill you doesn't mean I can't do enough damage to your ship for you to crash land."

Anakin's eyes widened and he cut the transmission off, looking at Ace and Mekhi. "Get us out of here! NOW!"

Ace and Mekhi began flipping switches again and pressing buttons before they managed to move. Anakin stumbled and fell on his ass as the separtist ship began firing at them, making the whole ship shake and shudder. They were lucky their shields were up otherwise they'd have been blown to little bits and pieces.

Anakin jumped up to his feet as Aviana and Jett made their way to the cockpit. "What the hell is going on?!"

"You guys go make sure the kids are safe!" Anakin told them. Turning back to Mekhi and Ace and trying to ignore the alarm sounds and the red blinkin lights, he said, "How are we doing?"

Mekhi shook his head. "We hyperjumped but the cordinates got messed up due to the heavy fire and we're not headed to Tatooine."

Anakin frowned. "So where are we headed?"

"No idea." Mekhi shook his head as they came out of hyperspeed very close to a planet that Anakin recognized but didn't remember.

The Twilight was going in too fast and the red lights and alarms were going off faster. Anakin took a deep breath shaking his head. They were gonna crash and it wasn't going to be a pretty sight. Looks like Obi Wan got what the hell he wanted.

"We're gonna crash." Alia stated, appearing beside Anakin. "We're going to crash aren't we?"

Ignoring her question, Anakin said, "Are the kids safe?"

Alia nodded numbly but Anakin didn't notice because they were only eighty meters away from crashing. Anakin watched as trees became visible and got closer and he gripped Ace's shoulder tightly; Ace covered his hand with his own and Alia and Mekhi held hands as the ground rapidly approached.

"Let's hope we survive this." Anakin said.

Ace nodded but all he was thinking was, This can't be happening.
