An: no narrator This time. continuation from the last chapter).

(Geonosis).

The tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

On one side Anakin and Luminara stood holding their lightsabers out ready to attack their clones ready to follow them.

On the other side stood Avona with the remainder of the droid army of geonosis.

The only thing stopping either side from attacking was the hostages each side held. Clones had Carmiya pinned down while Alson and iliana had Ahsoka and bariss cuffed.

Anakin was furiously trying to figure out a way to pull a victory from this situation without killing the Padawans.

Luminara on the other hand was calm and looked not even the slightest bit concerned.

"Now skywalker." Avona says breaking the silence while walking a bit closer to the Jedi. "Here's my demands. You release Carmiya and leave geonosis and I'll free your Padawans. Refuse and I take them to a prison camp where we will pry every bit of intel they have."

Anakin was livid. He knew that Avona had him in a tough spot. To him he only had two options. 1. He accepts Avona's offer and the republic launches a renewed invasion later. Or 2. He denies the offer and puts both Ahsoka and barris's lives at risk of being tortured.

Taking a deep breath he is about to respond but then Luminara beats him to it.

"And why should we listen to the demands of a second rate general like you. You seem to forget we have air superiority and the will of the force guiding us and victory will be ours and you can't stop us.

And besides we are all ready to die to secure victory and we will never betray the republic for anything." Luminara declare boldly.

Avona rolled her eyes at that little speech cause not only was it extremely arrogant this Jedi seemed to forget she held her Padawan hostage but it also seemed like this master barely cared about her Padawans life.

"Look Jedi." Avona mocks. "I hold the cards you have something I want and I have something you want so come now." Avona responds holstering her pistol. "Make the right call."

Luminara annoyed at Avona's confidence spoke up. "How about this if you surrender General we will return your warrior to your army and you leave geonosis."

Avona's smile faded replaced with a frown.

"Listen here Jedi scum. I have been very patient with you and while I hate saying this it's true.

"If I surrender to you let's just say my army won't simply surrender and I can assure you that your padawans won't get as fair treatment from my subordinates." Avona argued back.

Luminara simply frowned at Avona's refusal. "My Padawans capture is regrettable but victory must be achieved at all cost to restore peace."

By the looks Ahsoka and barriss had on their faces they most likely came to the same conclusion simultaneously.

But despite being held by clones Carmiya wasn't exactly keen on letting this slide.

"So that's it then. Avona holds your padawan hostage and you refuse for the sake of one victory all against a world who wouldn't bow to republic law." Carmiya held struggling against the clones holding her.

"Hmmm you forget separatist these bugs rebelled first we are merely stopping them before they bring more terror on the galaxy." Luminara replied coldly.

"Hah yeah true they rebelled but let me ask you something why did they. It's simple for the last 50 years your great republic has been neglecting worlds and letting crime run rampant.

The confederacy was formed to try and bring more unity to the people since your precious republic senate could barely spare these worlds two cents.

So you tell me Jedi. Which one of us here are the criminals Avona because she wants to protect the people of the confederacy or you Jedi who serve at the beck and call of a corrupt senate." Carmiya ranted scowling at the general.

Anakin deciding to try and get the conversation back on track before Luminara said something they will all regret.

"If we refuse what exactly will you do to our Padawans." Anakin questions turning back to Avona attempting to stall hoping for a solution to come to him.

"Well the Naboo convention banned brutal interrogation techniques but there are some more humane ones I can use. So yeah refuse and I'll take em prisoner and maybe you republic rats pull out a victory."

Avona wasn't stupid she knew her army was not equipped to defeat the republic forces since two Jedi masters and over 4'000 clones easily outclassed her remaining forces which largely consisted of B1s and 2s.

Luminara once again choose to speak up.

"You already have our answer then general. We will fight and win."

Sighing in defeat Avona was about to give the signal to her army to attack but then the sudden sound of heavy laser fire was heard.

Looking up Avona barely registered what she was seeing before a clone yelled out her fear.

"ORBITAL BOMBARDMENT TAKE COVER."

(Republic fleet). 1 hour earlier

Admiral yularen stared at the orange landscape of the planet silently celebrating the republic winning air superiority over the separatists.

However he knew that on the ground it was bad a scouting report had informed him that Avona the general of the separatist army on the planet Had forced a deadlock.

He had confidence skywalker could do something about the deadlock but he knew that Avona shouldn't be underestimated.

Coming up with a small plan to help their boots on the ground yularen made his way  over to the main comm of his cruiser and issued an order.

"Could the raptor bomber squadron report to the main hanger and prepare for take off."

Even though he trusted skywalker didn't mean he would just sit back and let Avona win that easily.

However after 50 minutes there was no word from the surface.

Yularen was about to give the order for raptor squadron to take off but then he noticed a venator moving closer to the planet.

Annoyed that one of his captains was abandoning formation he immediately commanded to be put through to the captain of the venator.

"Captain tarkin what are you doing." Tulare. Demanded his voice filling with annoyance.

"Admiral forgive me for breaking formation. But it is my opinion that the ground forces have failed to destroy the main factory so I'm simply ensuring the mission is completed." Tarkin replied.

Yularen was about to order him to return to his position but then tarkin gave the order yularen feared he would.

"Open fire on the factory." Tarkin commanded.

Yularen could only stare in horror as laser fire headed straight for the surface.

(Surface).

All Avona could see was chaos and dust as the laser fire from space created dozens of craters.

Clones and droids immediately scattered trying to avoid the bombardment but in the chaos no one freed the Padawans.

Avona was about to do so but then noticed someone else had already beaten her to it.

(Carmiya POV).

Depsite still being in handcuffs whne ten bombard meant started my captors ran and I managed to knock the cuffs off banging them on a rock.

As I made my way back to friendly lines I noticed the Padawans still cuffed and since my  captors were currently trying to make it to cover they simply forgot about me and the Padawans and left us to die.

Dodging the raining laser fire I ran towards separatist lines praying I could free the Padawans before they were killed.

However just when I was only a few feet from them I saw a laser bolt heading right for us.

Wasting no time I immediately tackled the padawans out of the way shileding them with my body.

"Run.. quickly." I ordered them weakly as I slipped into unconsciousness

(Avona 3rd pov).

I screamed in horror when I saw my sister get blown off her feet by a laser blast while protecting the Padawans.

"Tarrence grab Carmiya and get to the shop now." I yelled to my knight who nodded and rushed over to Carmiya.

Running towards the ship I noticed my droids scattering and my knights rushing to my ship. Activating my comm I gave my most regrettable order the entire battle:

"To all separatist forces under my command retreat and try to make your way to evac ships and return to Kynar now.

This battle is lost." I ordered solemnly as I boarded my ship.

(3rd pov) 4 days later.

The morale of the confederacy had dropped at the news of the defeat on geonosis.

And when they returned Mila was there to greet them but when she saw Carmiya being carried the little girl refused to leave her side.

Avona was livid she was so close to victory then the republic had to go and do something reckless and devastating.

When Dooku summoned avona to explain the defeat on geonosis Avona's reply was brief.

"Our defeat was guaranteed when my request for reinforcements was denied. But I promise you my lord that the republic will pay dearly.

I make you this promise my lord for every planet the republic takes from us three more of theirs will be ours." Avona growled staring  at Dooku with pure hatred for the republic.

"Very well avona while our defeat is regrettable I have another mission for you." Dooku replied pulling up a hologram.

"You are to take your army to the moon of Concordia and rendezvous with death watch for an invasion of

MANDALORE."
