Chapter Nine - Rebel Briefing
After the mission to Dathomir, the Storm Hawks met up with Kyle Katarn in his MC80A star cruiser. As the Stor m Hawks met with Kyle Katarn on the bidge, they tell him about the location of Dark Ace and his forces.
Katarn: Cyclonia? I've never heard of that system before.
Piper: Cyclonia was once a Sith stronghold during the Old Republic until the planet was devastated by a Sith superweapon. Now Dark Ace and his forces have gathered on Cyclonia. They are also in possession of the superweapon.
Katarn: Then this puts us at a precarious situation. We need to act quick if we're going to stop him.
Aerrow: A full scale attack on Cyclonia is needed. We need to hit them with everything we've got.
X2: It won't be easy, Aerrow. X1 will have his fleet on standby. If I know my brother, he won't make an invasion on Cyclonia easy.
As X2 said this, Kyle Katarn took a moment to think of his next move. He knew that the full might of Dark Ace's forces would be formidable. An full scale invasion of Cyclonia would present many risks.
Katarn: The Empire is on it's last knees. All we need is the right opportunity to strike. Dark Ace and his allies threaten to undo all the progress we've made in this war. General Organa is tied up with fighting the Empire. However, I can lend you my entire fleet. Give me the coordinates to Cyclonia and we'll head there now.
As Kyle Katarn offered the support of his fleet, the Storm Hawks smiled at each other.
Katarn: If X1 is leading the fleet, then this is going to be one hell of a battle. When we arrive, we will engage with X1's fleet. Once we take out the command ship, then we'll begin landing our troops and hit them with everything we have.
In that moment, the invasion of Cyclonia had been planned. Once Kyle Katarn gathered his fleet, the fleet began the jump to Hyperspace. In the hanger bay of the MC80A star cruiser, the Storm Hawks met up near the Condor.
Finn: So this is it? We're taking on Dark Ace and his fleet in a possible suicide attack?
Piper: That's the plan, Captain.
Finn: With all that's happened, this seems like a walk in the park.
X2: I guarantee you it won't be, Captain. X1 is a ruthless commander. He'll hit us with everything he has. We have to be prepared.
Finn: Just another day at the office.
As Finn said that, Finn glanced over to Junko and Stork.
Finn: Well, boys. Looks like we're about go in the thick of it. If any of you want to back out, now's the chance.
Junko: I'm with you, Finn! All the way to the end!
Finn: Figured you'd say something like that, but I didn't want to speak for you. What about you, Stork?
Stork: Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?
Finn smiled upon the loyalty of his crew.
Finn: Well, Hotshot. Looks like you're stuck with us.
Aerrow: Glad to have you with us, Captain.
Finn: I'm expecting a pretty big reward once this is over. Saving the Galaxy is all well and good, but Credits is better.
Aerrow chuckled at Finn's words. Meanwhile, X2 was speaking to Dove and her squadron.
X2: Dove, you and your squad have come a long way since you've joined up with us. Whatever happens, I'm proud to have fought alongside you all.
As X2 said this, the old Clone Trooper saluted Dove and her squad. Dove and her squad returned the favor by saluting to him.
Dove: Thank you, Commander X2. We're proud to fight alongside you this day. We're ready to give our lives to the cause.
X2 smiled at Dove and her squad. He had not seen such camaraderie since the days of the Clone Wars. Despite facing certain death. Dove and her squad were ready to go above and beyond the call of duty. At the same time, X2 thought of the inevitable conflict between himself and his brother X1. As the Storm Hawks prepared for the battle to come, Aerrow was cleaning his DC-15A blaster rifle. As he cleaned his rifle, Aerrow glanced over to Piper and could tell that something was on her mind. Aerrow approached Piper and spoke to her.
Aerrow: Are you all right, Piper?
Piper: I'm...I'm well, Aerrow. I have a lot on my mind.
Aerrow: I'm all ears.
Piper: When I started this journey, I was just a farm girl who dreamed of exploring the Galaxy. Now here I am ready to fight with the fate of the Galaxy on the line.
Aerrow: We have come a long way since Atmosia, haven't we? If General Kota were here today, he'd have the biggest smile on his face.
As Aerrow said that, Piper couldn't help but chuckle as she looked back fondly of her brief training under Rahm Kota. Radarr chirped to Aerrow and Piper, earning a chuckle from Aerrow.
Aerrow: You can say that again, Radarr!
Piper: What did he say?
Aerrow: He said General Kota would be proud of us for where we are now. We took the fight to the Empire and are now on the verge of winning the war and freeing the Galaxy from their tyranny.
Piper: This fight is not yet over, Aerrow. Dark Ace is still out there. So is Darth Cyclonis. If we fail, then all of the Galaxy is a risk.
Aerrow: I'm ready, Piper. I'll stand with you no matter how bad it gets.
Piper smiled as she hugged Aerrow. The two embraced each other lovingly, knowing what was about to come. For all they knew, this could be the end. Despite this, the Storm Hawks were ready to battle against Dark Ace and his forces on Cyclonia. For better or for worse, this was the beginning of the end.
