To give us some context as to when this RP is supposed to take place in the timeline of the Star Wars franchise, I've set it to be shortly after the rise of the Galactic Empire and the fall of the Republic.  So, it takes place between Episode III-Revenge of the Sith, and Episode IV-A New Hope.  The RP is set roughly ten years before the destruction of the first Death Star during the battle of Yavin.  At this point in time, the clones are slowly being retired from the Imperial Army as many have begun to feel the effects of their accelerated aging process.  There are still quite a few of them though, and though they may be getting on in years, they're still among the most formidable fighters the galaxy has ever seen.  As they are becoming phased out of service, the empire is recruiting conscripts to join its ranks.  

Many of the old republic armaments, such as the AT-TE (those insect-looking six-legged tank things), the starfighters, and the cruisers have been replaced by first and second generation versions of the Imperial fleet.  Most notably is the mass-produced TIE fighter, which is rapidly replacing many of the other ships once used in the Empire's earliest days and the last days of the Republic.  So, be prepared to see examples of both old republic craft and the newer and improved (to some degree) Imperial variants.  

It's been nine years, roughly, since the fall of the Republic, and the rise of the Empire.  During this time, the mysterious Darth Vader has been traveling across the galaxy at the behest of the Emperor, hunting down and eliminating the surviving Jedi that escaped the purge of the temple and Order 66.  However, as their numbers dwindle and the survivors become more crafty at staying under the radar, not even Vader can locate them.  To aid him are the fearsome Inquisitors, force wielders trained in the Dark Side to hunt the Jedi.  The Emperor has also gutted the old Jedi temple, redesigning it into the Grand Imperial Palace, both his home and his place to meet with advisors.

The Empire has quickly begun expanding into the outer rim, bringing more and more systems under its control.  At this rate...it won't be long before the entire galaxy bows before the will of the Sith.  Perhaps this is what's meant to be, perhaps it's right.  If not, then it's beginning to look very bleak indeed for those who oppose the iron hand of the Empire.
