Chapter 7

Hey guys, I'll explain everything later at the end of the book between Grey Jedi and regular Jedi from the last chapter. But for now, enjoy the book!

Hera looked at the kid sadly, knowing what he meant by that. The poor child was an orphan and had to survive on his own without anyone to help him out. She knew that most of the crew had known was the kid was going through. "And you've got somewhere else to be," Esther continued in a regular voice as Kanan, Chopper, and Sabale came in and both Kanan and Sabale sat down in their respective places.

She looked at Sabale for confirmation that her secret is still safe with him and he gestures a slight nod in return. Confirming that he didn't give anything away about her identity and that she could trust him to keep it longer. "I know where they are really taking the Wookies. Have you heard of the Spice Mines of Kessel?" she asked the crew curiously, because her knowledge was limited, and felt the atmosphere change into shock and horror.

Esther looked at them confused for a moment until Sabale began to talk first, "Slaves are sent there to last a few months. Maybe a year."

"And for Wookies, born in the forest, it's a death sentence," Hera finished sadly.

"Then, I guess we better go save them," Esther stated strongly.

That made the crew stop and look at her with shock. "We?" Sabale asked confused and confirming that Esther wants to do this.

"You've come this far. Might as well finish the job," Esther replied confirming that she wants to help them rescue the Wookies from their prison.

"Setting course for Kessel," Hera reported while she turned back to her control panel and began to punch a few buttons to interlock their coordinates into the Kessel system.

Kanan looked at the kid for a minute before turning around and looking forward at the hyperspace blue lights illuminated through his side of the window. Esther looked at him for a few seconds then looked down at the floor, deep in thought as to why there would be a message to any surviving Jedi in that cube unless....

A few moments later, Esther was standing a few feet away from Zeb, readying herself for battle. "Try not to get dead," Zeb stated to her from her side making her look at him with annoyance before he continued with a smirk, "Don't want to have to carry your body out."

Esther just scoffed and rolled her eyes before looking straight forward as Sabale and Kanan came forward and readied themselves for battle. Soon, the ramp opened up to shots being fired at them from the Stormtroopers and everyone ran out before hiding behind crates while the ghost went up into the clouds to wait for the call to pick up the Wookies. Quickly, Zeb, Sabale, and Kanan began to shoot at the Stormtroopers to provide a distraction while Kanan gave Esther the signal to do her job.

Quickly, she hid behind many different crates and made sure not to be seen by the troopers before coming close to the Wookies. The big one roared at her with a bit of anger on his face and his companions came forward to help him. "Woah, hey wait. I'm here to help. Promise," Esther said to them as she grabbed her own lock picker, that she made herself for situations like these, and began to use it to uncuff the big Wookie.

Done with that, she moved onto the next one and kept going silently until they were all uncuffed. Two of the Wookies quickly finished the last of the Stormtroopers by throwing them onto the ground or punching them. Kanan, Zeb, and Sabale looked at them with grateful smiles. The Wookies parted ways to let the kid come through with happiness shining brightly in his eyes. The victory was short livid.

After Hera pulled her ship down to hovering a few feet away from ground, ties suddenly just came out of nowhere from below ground and hit at the engine. The ghost fired back at one tie, making it fall down in smoke before another ship appeared and fired three blasts at the Wookies, Kanan, Sabale, Esther, and Zeb. Quickly, they all dived out of the way and looked up to see the ghost leaving to deal with the tie fighters in the air while the other ship landed and dropped a platform holding Agent Kallus with Stormtroopers of his own. "Take them down!" he ordered his men and they complied, shooting at the exposed rebels.

Hurrying, the crew got almost all of the Wookies behind the crates on the opposite end from where Kallus and his Stormtroopers stood and heard a Wookie cry out in pain. Quickly, Esther and Zeb ran over to help the Wookie guy while taking out one of the two troopers. The other one seemed to have an interest in the young Wookie hiding behind a crate and took off at the young Wookie. Zeb helped the Wookie up and back over towards behind the crate everyone else was behind while Esther looked at the young Wookie in sadness before taking off after him.

She ignored Zeb's shout of protest, with Sabale's and Kanan's protest as well, and kept running. Soon, they came upon a railing and Esther decided to distract the trooper. "Hey! Buckethead!" she shouted to him catching his attention.

Esther crouched down, and looked at him in anger, before sprinting up and over him about ten feet in the air and landed in front of the young Wookie child. She turned around and fired a stun bullet from one of her blasters and he fell over the railing with a cry. "Got him!" she said in triumph before turning to the task at hand.

After a few minutes, she had managed to get the cuffs off and throw them over the railing before stopping and turning around at the sound of Kallus's voice saying, "It's over for you, Jedi."

Looking at him confused, Esther just rolled her eyes and placed her hand in front of the young Wookie to protect him from a death fate while pulling out one of her own guns and trailing it on him. "A Master and an Apprentice. Such a rare find these days," Kallus continued with an evil smirk on his face.

"I don't know where you get your delusions buckethead! I work alone on my missions," she stated to him defiantly while keeping her guard up and glaring angrily at him.

"Not this time," she heard Kanan's voice say from the left side of the railing.

Soon enough, the ghost ship hovered a few feet above them on the left side and standing at the top, was Kanan with a blue lightsaber. Kallus took the opportunity to fire at Kanan but he dodged both bullets before using his lightsaber to blast one of his bullets back at Kallus making him fall back from the railing and joining the Stormtrooper Esther sent down on the right side of the railing. "Jump kid," Kanan said to the two, snapping Esther out her thoughts, as the ghost descended below the railing to allow the two to land safely on top.

Complying to his order, Esther took a gentle hold of the young Wookie's and jumped over the railing before jumping onto the ghost ship and landing perfectly on it. Kanan quickly ushered them inside the ship while Kallus got annoyed by being beaten yet again by those rebels. "First Jedi you've ever seen sir?" asked the Stormtrooper from below him.

In anger, Kallus kicked the Stormtrooper in the helmet, making the Stormtrooper lose his balance and fall off the side railing into the spice mines below with a cry of surprise. When Esther, Kanan, and the young Wookie came forward onto the ramp, the leader Wookie roared in delight. The kid Wookie happily got off the ramp and slid down the ladder before running over to its father and hugging him happily. Kanan looked on at this beautiful sight before placing a gentle hand on Esther's shoulder and climbing down the ladder carefully himself to watch the little reunion between father and son while Esther watched from above.

After a while, the rebels had attached a transport ship to theirs to help the Wookies find a safe place to stay from the Empire. The leader Wookie moaned something but Sabale translated for the crew saying "He said that if we ever need help, the Wookies will be there."

The leader moaned in happiness before ruffling Esther's hood for a second making her chuckle a bit before pulling back his hand. She straightened it and said to the kid Wookie, "Good luck Kitwar. Try to stay out of trouble."

Kitwar moaned in happiness in reply before heading into the transport ship with his father and the last of the Wookies. "Heh, look who's talking," stated Zeb as he came forward to shut the door to allow Hera to detach the ship and allow the Wookies to fly away to a safe destination far from the Empire's reaches.

"So I guess this is where you drop me off then right?" Esther asked unsure of wanting to leave since the crew has become like family to her.

"Right, finally," Zeb answered as he turned to face her after the door shut and chuckled nervously.

"Right," Esther said sadly before walking out towards the ladder, that lead towards the terret gun, and leaning against it.

Sabale and Zeb walked past her to do their things while Kanan came forward and was about to pass her when the ghost gave a shudder as the two ships detached from each other. Esther rocked a little forward and nearly fell on Kanan but regained her composure and apologized for that. Kanan just nodded his head in acceptance of her apology and left her to her thoughts. What he didn't know, or knew, was that Esther had taken the two pieces of his lightsaber and placed them back together while looking at it in deep thought.
