Chapter 6

"Attention rebel ship. Surrender or be destroyed! This is your first and last warning," said a stern voice from the com as Hera flew the ghost away from the Imperial ships.

"Blow on out your exhaust vents," Hera replied to him sternly, making Chopper laugh at that statement before she continued with, "Literally," and signaled to their explosive expert, "Sabale."

Sabale happily complied from his position in the nose gun and pressed the detonator button making the explosives he planted in the control room on the Imperial transport ship explode. "Oh, I can't see it from here. How'd it look?" he asks eagerly.

"Amazing Sabale. As always," Kanan replied from his position at the terrut gun at the top of the ship waiting for any ties to come at them and fire at them to delay them.

Soon they were all in hyperspace and Hera leaned back against her chair with a sigh of relief. Kanan comes in and states "The whole thing was a setup," before sitting down in his copilot chair.

Sabale came in, sat down in his painted chair, and took his helmet off before setting it down on the floor, and asking, "You think Vizago was in on it?"

"He'd sell his mother to Jabba's for a couple of credits. But we're a source of income for him. Even odds, he did not know," Hera replied as Zeb came in gruffly and sat down sadly at what the kid had done to sacrifice herself to allow them to go free.

"That kid did alright?" Hera asked Kanan with a bit of hope.

"He did okay. But he forgot to mention that he has an enemy against his family," Kana replied shocking Hera and Sabale while Zeb stayed silent.

"Where is he?" Kanan asked Zeb curiously cause he had some questions that he wanted the kid to answer.

"I...uh...thought that he was with you," Zeb replied sheepishly.

Sabale widened his eyes and asked suspiciously, "Zeb. What did you do to him?"

"I didn't do anything to him," Zeb replied in a normal tone before continuing in a quiet voice, "the enemy bounty hunter got to him first."

"What?!" Everyone asks shocked at what he said and turned their chairs towards him with shocked looks on their faces.

"The kid got grabbed and yelled at me to go on without him! Okay?!" Zeb yelled out to confirm Sabale's worst nightmare of what could happen to Esther.

"Garazeb Orrelios!" Hera yelled out to him in a stern tone making everyone look at him with a bit of anger and sternness to it.

"Oh come on! We were dumping off after the mission. It saves us fuel. They'll go easy on him even if he gets caught, cause last I saw, he was fighting against the bounty hunter and winning at it. But he's just a kid," Zeb replied defending himself of the accusation as if he did it on purpose when he didn't mean it.

Hera exchanged a scared look with Kanan and knew of the consequences the kid could possibly face. "Sabale? What do you know of that kid?" Zeb asked his brother by mind as he saw Sabale lower his head in silence and sadness.

"That kid has been through a lot when he was little. I know, because he told me that his life got ruined twice by the Empire. If they recognize who he is..." Sabale replied trailing off making the ghost crew look at their youngest member in shock at what he said.

Everyone on the ghost, even Chopper, hoped that the kid was okay and began debating over rescuing the kid from the Empire. Meanwhile, Esther opened her eyes and still saw herself in a cell. It was a wonder how she managed to transport herself into this place. But she couldn't think about getting out or the Empire might be on her tail to use her as bait. So all she could do was wait until they get back to Lothal and sneak out of this ship somehow and head back home. Feeling around in her bag, Esther pulled out the cube she acquired while on the ship. She messed around with it for a while before tossing it gently into the floor and layed down on the cold Imperial floor. Esther closed her eyes and began to comfort herself away from the horrible things that could happen if they found her.

Suddenly a bright blue light shown and a voice sounded a few feet away from her saying "This is Master Obi-wan Kenobi."

That made Esther sit up and open her eyes to see the cube came apart and was floating a few feet away from her with eight of the corners of the cube floating away from the cube while the cube displayed a young man wearing brown robes and illuminated in the blue light provided by the cube. "I regret to inform you that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen. With a dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning, and a reminder, to any surviving Jedi and powerful Grey Jedi. Trust in the force."

Soon his holographic form disappeared within the cube and it, along with its pieces, gently lowered themselves onto the floor. Esther remembered her father telling her about the Jedi and how they were powerful within something called the Force and brought peace to the Galaxy while the Grey Jedi were chosen by the Force if proven worthy of handling both the bad side and the good side of the Force. The Grey Jedi were said to be even more powerful than the Jedi but none could outmatch the 800 year old Jedi that her father had once said about but she forgot. Shaking her head, Esther quickly collected the cube, and it's pieces and placed them all in her bag before taking off her headband again and disappearing from the cell just as the door opened to admit agent Kallus.

When she opened her eyes, she saw that, yet again, she was inside a room that she didn't think was the hangar bay. Rolling her eyes in annoyance, and deciding to do it the old fashioned way, Esther grabbed one of the cadet helmets and overheard the conversation going on through he transmitter about the Wookies. "The Delay was insignificant. The transport ship Agent Kallus diverted will dock on Kessel within two hours. The Wookies will be off roaded to a Spice Mine cave 76."

"Agent Kallus. There's a security breach in the lower hangar," she heard an officer say.

Quickly, she climbed into the open air vent and closed the hatch behind her before crawling along the vent to the lower hangar, hoping to use the distraction to get out of this ship. "I don't know how, but the rebel ship approached us without alerting our sensors," she heard the officer continue to say over the com.

Realizing that the rebels came back for her, Esther got so excited that she accidentally hit her helmeted head against the ceiling and grimaced in pain. "Order all stormtroopers to converge on the lower hangar. I'll meet them there," Kallus ordered to his squads.

Grimacing in anger and remembering the day it happened when she first saw him as a little girl. Like her and Jelscope, Esther had a grudge against Kallus due to him being there for the first time her life was ruined by the Empire before she was taken to a place far from her home and left there for her safety. Shaking her head of her thoughts and clearing her throat, Esther pressed the com button and said in a fast, and low voice, "This is Trooper LS-123 reporting intruders in the upper hangar. Sir, I believe that the lower hangar is a diversion."

"Maybe. Maybe not. Squads 5-8 divert to the upper hangar. The rest will converges to the lower hangar," Kallus replied changing the plans but not as much as Esther had hoped.

Well every little bit helps, she thought to herself remembering her mother's old saying when she was young.

Quickly, she began to keep crawling forward towards the lower hangar to meet the rebels there when she heard Sabale's voice from below her "And this time. Try not to leave until everyone's back aboard."

"Oh, come on. That was not my fault. The kid said for me to go!" Esther heard Zeb say in his defense.

"Well that's debatable coming from you Zeb," Esther said from the vent and pulled up the shaft before dropping onto the floor and landing perfectly on her feet in front of Sabale and Kanan behind her, who stared at her in awe and shock and a bit of a smirk, and Zeb in front of her.

Zeb looked at her in shock before punching her square in the helmet. The force of that punch sent her tumbling backwards until she came in between Sabale and Kanan. Shaking herself of the dizziness, Esther carefully removed the helmet and made sure her hood and scarf was still up to hide her identity before looking at Zeb angrily and saying "First you want to get rid of me, then you hit me?!"

"How was I supposed to know it was you?! You were wearing a bucket!" Zeb replied in his defense angrily.

"I'm wearing different clothing than what those bucketheads wear and I'm shorter than them. How is that an argument from the difference between me and a buckethead?!" Esther nearly shouted at him angrily.

Zeb looked at her angrily while she glared back and wiped sweat from her brow and turned around to see Agent Kallus running towards them with his squad right behind him. Quickly, she threw her helmet at him and began to run with the rebels. "Spector 1 to ghost, we're leaving!" she heard Kanan say to his com link before shooting at more troopers with Sabale to provide cover for their's, and Esther's, escape.

Hera shot at a couple of troopers three times before running into her ship and heading into the control room to prepare the ship for take off at Kanan's signal. Esther arrived on the ramp and raised her gun to aim at Kallus to make him pay for what he's done but then a strong hand clamped hard on her shoulder followed by Zeb's voice saying, "Hold up! This time, you go first!"

Then he roughly pulled her into making her grimace in anger at losing her shot at finishing off Agent Kallus. "Ghost, raise the ramp!" she heard Kanan yell as both Sabale and him came aboard.

That was the signal, Hera needed to get the ship out of the Destroyer. Quickly, she ordered Chopper to converge onto the Phantom's gun and raised the ramp and shield generators to provide quick cover for their escape. Esther got up from being on the floor and glared angrily at Zeb. She then saw Kanan nod his head to Sabale, who smirked, after taking off his helmet, and pressed a detonator button that sent an explosion on the destroyer. Soon, the ship lurched giving the team the signal that they were in hyperspace and away from danger.

Esther went to the control room and opened the door to see Hera slumping back in her seat in relief at the successful mission. "Welcome aboard. Again," Hera said happily.

"Thanks. Thank you. I'd really didn't think that you'd come back for me," Esther stated in a partially sad, partially happy voice while she leaned against the door frame inside the control room and crossed her arms over her chest softly.

"I'll get you home now. I'm sure your parents must be worried sick," Hera replied as she touched a few of her controls before looking sideways at the kid standing near her door.

"I don't have parents," Esther stated sadly about to cry remembering what happened those very days she was three and seven years old, the day she truly learned that she couldn't trust anyone but herself.
