Chapter 2
Rex's pov
"Are you sure you want to leave Captain?" One of the clones asks me. Ever since Order 66, I felt extremely guilty for all we done to the Jedi. All the pain, suffering, and deaths we caused, too unbearable for me to stay here any longer.
"I'm sure, I'll just say goodbye to everyone before I leave." I say walking to the rest of the clones. When I see them, I get surprised to see them all huddled outside a closet door. "What's going on here?" I ask them. They just stay silent.
Wanna play like that? Alright I'll go in there myself. I push the clones out of my way and open the door. I gasp in horror to see a boy tied up and gagged to a corner and passed out. I bolt inside and kneel besides him. He immediately wakes up in a haze and struggles to get free.
"It's ok, it's ok I'm not going to hurt you." I say in a calm tone. The clones are watching behind me. I gently take the tape off his mouth. He remains silent in fear. That's when I take out my pocket knife and the boy flinches. I take off my helmet. "Don't worry I'm just going to cut the rope tied to you." I say. He calms down a little and I quickly cut the ropes.
The boy tries to run but then falls realizing his feet are tied too. I sigh and look at the clones. Why would they do this to a kid? I help him up and cut off the ropes on his feet. The boy just sits there not knowing what to do next.
"What's your name?" I ask him. He doesn't say anything. Wouldn't expect him to. "Well my name is Rex." I say. He looks up at me but puts his head back down. I could see that his knees are scraped and dirty. "Why don't I take you somewhere you could wash your knees." I say and give him my hand. He hesitates but then gives me his hand and I show him to the bathroom.
When I get back to the closet door, the clones are still there from before. "Why would you do that to him?!?!?" I shout. "Did you see his light saber? He's a padawan." One of them says. So that's why they did this. "We are not hunting down Jedi anymore and that's final." I say.
"Come on Captain maybe we should." Wolf says. "No it.....wait hold on one second." I say and go back to the bathroom door and opening it. That's when the boy fall on the floor. Ease dropper huh? "It's ok kid if you heard what we were saying I won't let them take you." I say helping him up.
The clones just walk away in despite. I sigh and lead the boy with me. I take him into my office and immediately drop on my chair in exhaustion. The boy just stands in discomfort. "You could sit down if you'd like." I say.
He was about to finally sit till something catches his eye. The boy runs to the other side of the room and looks at my shelf of helmets. "I'm guessing you must like helmets?" I ask him. He gives me a nod and smiles while admiring my collection. First time I saw him smile.
"Why don't I call you "helmet" for the time being." I say. He gives me a look of approval and finally goes back to the chair he planned on sitting on. "I'm going to contact your people and tell them your alright." I say heading to my work section.
"Umm..." He starts to say. So you could speak after all. "What?" I ask him. "You could just....drop me off." He says. Is he out of his mind? "Why do you not have a family?" I ask him. "No I do......but that's the problem." He says a little bit worried.
At first I don't understand. But then I realized that since he's a padawan, he must have a master. Oh no. His master probably was in Order 66 and hates us, obviously. Now his padawan is with clones. His master is going to blow up. I don't want to be anywhere near that chaos.
"I see your point helmet." I say. I lean back on my chair. "Alright I'll drop you off." I say getting up. He gets up too and we both head out of the headquarters.
As we are walking, the sun shines on us while the breeze gives us a cool feeling. "So your master, he hates us right?" I ask him. "He tells me what you guys did to his master." Helmet says. "Yeah the clones killed many Jedi." I say in a sad tone. "My master never told me why though." He says.
"What do you mean?" I ask him. "He never told me why you guys turned on the Jedi." He says. "They were forced to. They had chips in them that activated in Order 66, as for me got it taken out before so I had a choice." I say. "But no one else did." He says. "Nope." I say.
We both stay silent the rest of the walk until we reach the town. "Well......bye." He says and runs away. "Wait I'm sorry for what happened!!!!!" I shout but he is already too far to have heard. I felt extremely bad for what the other clones did. Just hope Helmet stays safe.
