The Last Togruta

Ezra's POV
(Back on the Ghost)

I find Kanan in the common room. I just have to ask him about the Togruta girl that I sorta, met.

Maybe there's more of a story behind her, or she's just the only Togruta living on Lothal.

He seems lost in thought, so I guess that this isn't the perfect time to ask him. Who knows how long he's been sitting there.

"Kanan, what do you know about the Togruta species?" Heh, I think it took him a sec to actually process that I interrupted his thoughts.

"Wha- oh, I thought I told you what happened to the Togrutas." He still seems a bit dazed.

"Yea you told me what happened to them, but what are they like, what do they look like, why is there only one of them living on Lothal..."

Then he cuts me off.

"Whoa whoa what!?What do you mean 'why is there one living on Lothal?', I've never seen a Togruta on Lothal.", He asks.

"Weeeeeeeell, I kinda bumped into her.."

"HER!?" Kanan cuts in.

"Yes! Please let me finish. Anyway, I bumped into her at the market when I ran back to one of the shops where I left the one thing I found off of Hera's ever growing list. I accidentally ran into her on my way there, I got up and continued to walk but she stopped me and got all snippy about bumping into her. I do t know why she cared because people on Lothal bump into each other all the time and never have to apologize, they just carry on with their business. She asked for my name, but I don't know if she's with the Empire so I told her it was Dev Morgan."

Kanan's POV

Ezra's telling me about a Togruta he bumped into at the market. He described her as orange skin, blue lips, and blue and white montrals. She sounds vaguely familiar of a snippy padawan I'd met before Order 66.

Although, I'm not going to tell, Ezra because I don't want to get his hopes up, just in case she's not the Jedi I remember.

I'm proud of him for taking the precaution by lying about his name in case she is with the Empire. Ezra said he didn't see any lightsabers on her, but she could've hid them.

"Ezra, if this girl is a Togruta, she might be the last."

You don't need the force to sense the shock on Ezra's face. Ever since he's joined the crew he's been all about saving people and sticking it to the Empire.

"WHAT!?" He yells quite surprised

Just then Zeb walks in looking all groggy and tired. We might've woken him up, or Chopper did.

"What's all the racket about? I was sleepin." Zeb complains.

The thought about Zeb losing almost all of his people is probably circulating through Ezra's brain, I can sense his despair. But Zeb can see it.

Suddenly, he forgets all about being grumpy and groggy and turns his attention to Ezra.

"What's wrong with the kid?" Hen nods in Ezra's direction

"We were just discussing a certain species Ezra had a slight encounter with today." I reply, trying to sound calm.

"Ezra, can you go see if Hera needs anything?" I suggest trying to get him out of the room.

Once he's completely out of the room I turn to Zeb for further explanation.

"Look, Zeb, today Ezra had a run in with a Togruta, and there are very few left.... Maybe even less than the Lasats, but to be completely honest I think there's only one." I explain

Knowing how hard it is to lose your own species, Zeb now understood why Ezra looked almost like he was going to cry.

Zeb's POV

Kanan just told me that there might be less Togrutas than there are Lasats. I know what it's like to lose a lot of your own kind.

I don't want to even imagine the plans going through the kid's head right now. He's probably thinking of having the Togruta join our crew. I don't know how many kids I can handle on one ship.

We've already got Ezra, Sabine, and Chop. I almost wonder if she's on the run from that stupid ISB agent Kallus.

Karabast, I hate that idiot!

I bet he was the one who cleared Shili, along with my home world. I'm too tired to stress about this, Kanan and Hera will probably have us find her tomorrow.

I get back in my cabin and just as I doze off to sleep, I feel an electric shock strike through my body. "CHOPPERRRR!" I'm gonna dismantle that bucket of bolts, with my hands!

Ezra's POV

I can't believe it. The girl I met, might be the last of her kind. I bet the Empire's behind this. She's probably in danger and needs our help. Who am I kidding they're behind everything bad.

I've gotta convince Kanan to let me look for her tomorrow, maybe she's not as snippy when you get used to her.

This is gonna keep me up for sure. I'm not sleeping tonight, I need to devise a plan to find her, and convince her to join us, or at least let us help her.

That's when I hear a loud "ZAP" sound. I know it has to be Chopper bugging Zeb. He probably woke Zeb from another pre-bedtime nap. I could hear Zeb yelling at Chopper from across the Ghost.

At least Chopper's not bugging me!

Kanan's POV

I go looking for Hera in the cockpit. Of course she's in there, she spends half of the day in here, even when we're not on a mission.
She's a great pilot.

"Is everything ok?" She asks, you can hear the concern in her voice.

"Yeah, why?"

"Ezra came in here to ask if I needed anything, though before I could answer he said that he was going to his room. I figured that something's bugging him." She replies still sounding concerned, and a little motherly.

"Let's just say, Ezra might've met the last Togruta in the galaxy." I slowly explain.
