Chapter 7

Era was sad to see Kitwar leave but knew that the kid had to be with his family and his people. She watched as Kitwar left with his Wookie father, but not before the Wookie said his thanks to the rebels and a special thanks to Era for saving his son, and left the crew to their own business knowing it will be her turn to leave. Leaning against the ladder, she watched as each crew member left to their own business until it was only Kanan walking past her. Suddenly, the ship lurched causing Era to almost fall over onto the floor but was caught by Kanan at the last second. He helped her to stand up while she snatched his lightsaber pieces, without his knowledge, and hid them behind her back as she thanked him with a shy smile.

Kanan gave her a small smile before leaving her alone to her thoughts. Once he left, Era pulled out the two pieces and put them together to figure out what she saw when she touched it. Maybe it was a memory, she thought but dismissed the idea as she hadn't had any memory fragments in years.

Placing the lightsaber in the back of her belt, next to the cube, she made her way over to the ramp descending down to the cargo room beneath it. She climbed down it as soon as she heard the ship land and waved goodbye to Chopper and Sebil were before going over to Zeb and saying, "So I guess I'll be seeing you around?"

"Not if we see you first," Zeb said with a smirk then playfully punches her on the shoulder too hard accidentally giving her the wrong impression.

"Don't worry, you won't," she said grumpily missing Zeb's confused look making Sebil roll his eyes in annoyance cause now he would have to explain it to his brother figure on what he did wrong.

Era made her way down the ramp, with her grey cloth pulled down, and saw Kanan and Hera waiting for her on the ground. "I believe that you have something that belongs to me," Kanan remarked as Hera gave him a look.

Digging into the back of her belt, she pulled out the cube, that she tried to fix earlier while the ship was in hyperspace but came up with the corner pieces twisted back on their slots, and gently threw it at him. Kanan caught it with ease and looked at it. "Good luck saving the galaxy," the girl said bringing him back to reality from deep in thought before he saw her run off to a abandoned communications tower.

"She opened it. She passed the test," Hera said to Kanan making look back at Hera before looking at the girl disappearing from their sight.

Once she made it to her home, she immediately went up to her room and was met by a little girl rushing up to her and hugging her tightly while shouting "Sister!"

Smiling, Era knelt down to her little sister's height and hugged her tightly missing her deeply while she was out and about with the crew. Maggie Matel wasn't technically her real sister as Era had known Maggie's mother when she was eight years old, as she was different like Era was, and was saved by her when she was involved in an accident before being taught on how to control her abilities by her. When Maggie was born, Era had always came over to watch over Maggie until one day, the Empire came to take Maggie away. However, Maggie's mother sacrificed her life saving her only daughter while Era ran off with baby Maggie to protect her as if she was her own sister and swore a blood oath to keep it that way.

Now little Maggie was five years old with shoulder-length black hair, tanned skin, green eyes, soft baby features, wore a tan shirt with black pants and a white leather piece of fabric tied around it to substitute as a skirt, also wore black shoes, and had her hair placed into two low pig tails while wearing the necklace her mother gave to her before she died. "What happened to you? I was so worried Era! I was scared that the Empire caught you and... what is this?" Maggie asked frantic for the first three sentences she said before trailing off and holding out the lightsaber Era stole from Kanan.

Shocked, and not at all surprised, Era felt around her back belt but didn't find it there before placing on an amused smile and said "That is a lightsaber that I took to take a closer look at."

"You stole it from a Jedi?!" Maggie shouted before Era quickly placed her hands over Maggie's mouth to keep her quiet.

"Keep your voice down please sis. I'm sure the Empire would love to hear you screaming from all the way in here," Era said sarcastically making Maggie smile and laugh from behind Era's hands before Era placed her hands down and said "Yes I did but only because I think I felt something when I first touched it. I'm just not sure if it was a memory fragment or something."

Maggie frowned before hugging her sister saying "Your memory will comeback. Mommy did save you after all."

Reminded of the day she lost her memory, Era just simply smiled, hugged her little sister back, and said "I hope so."

Suddenly, she felt a vergence behind her and clearly asked Kanan, "What's the Force?"

"The Force is everywhere. It surrounds us and penetrates us and it binds the Galaxy together. And it's strong with you Era. Otherwise you would've never been able to open that Holocron," Kanan replied explaining the answer to Era in the way that he had been taught.

Era gently pulled out from her hug with Maggie and stood up before turning to him and saying "So what do you want?"

"To offer you a choice: You can keep the lightsaber you stole, let it become just another dusty souvenir. Or you can give it back and you and your sister can come with us, come with me and be trained in the ways of the Force. You can learn what it truly means to be a Jedi," Kanan responded gently to Era making Maggie's eyes widen in awe.

"I thought the Empire wiped out all the Jedi," Maggie said in awe making Kanan smile at the child and say, "Not all of us kid."

A worried look came upon her face as she looked down at the lightsaber before looking back up and saw that Kanan was gone from her sight. Maggie then looked up at her sister and said, "You must go sis. We must go. Maybe we might learn more about your memories there."

Looking down at her sister, Era kneeled down to her height and said, "It will be a rough and dangerous path for you if we join them. And I don't want to see you getting hurt while on my watch."

Maggie just rolled her eyes and said, "There is nothing of anything that I wasn't taught by you on how to control my abilities," before opening her right palm and let the orange, yellow, and white flame dance across it to demonstrate her control over it before she closed her palm making it vanish within herself and smiled.

Smiling back, Era then said, "Well then what are we waiting for little sister?" before going over to her side of the room and packing up her things that she would need for the adventure with Maggie doing the same thing.

When they were both ready, they both set outside and looked back into their room one last time before shutting the door and locking it to make sure no one can get inside and claim it if they ever returned. Knowing that there was no turning back now, Era and Maggie set off towards the Ghost and made it up to the ramp before stopping. Taking a deep breath in, Era made her way up the ramp first and saw Sebil, Chopper, and Zeb there apparently waiting for her with smiles on Zeb and Sebil's faces. Smiling, she dropped her sack and ran over to them before hugging the two with Chopper reeling back to watch the whole thing.

Pulling away from the hug, Era smiled at them once more before turning around and looked above the ramp to see Hera there and nodded her head in confirmation. Hera smiled happily before climbing down the ramp and made her way over to young Era before giving her a comm link to communicate with the rest of the team. Happily smiling, Era then looked past Hera and nodded to Maggie before saying, "Come on sis. I want you to meet some people."

Knowing that her sister was expecting her, little Maggie made her way up the ramp with her own sack and dropped it at the entrance, next to Era's, and looked shyly at the shocked crew. Kneeling down, Era opened her arms to her little sister and Maggie gratefully ran over to her sister before jumping into her arms and hugging her. Standing up with Maggie on her hip now, Era set her arms around Maggie, to make sure she's secure, before turning to the crew and saying, "This is my little sister Maggie. Maggie, this is Hera, Sebil, Chopper, and Zeb. The crew that Kanan was giving a hint about when he asked me to join him in becoming a Jedi."

Little Maggie pulled her head out of Era's right shoulder and gave a little wave before placing her head back against Era's shoulder and trying to bury it deep within it. Zeb gave a bit of a chuckle before saying, "She's a cute little tyke. But what are we supposed to do with the child if we go on dangerous missions with her?"

"She can just stay in the ship where it's safe and nothing's going to happen to her Zeb. The blood oath I made to protect her will remind me of that every time," Era said to Zeb sternly glaring at him and standing up for her sister.

"Well, she can stay in the cockpit where she would be safe with me," Hera suggested to ease the tension between the two.

"Thank you Hera. Little Maggie means a lot to me as my sister cause I practically raised her since she was a baby. Now, I better go find Kanan and let him know of my decision to stay. Do you know where he is?" Era asked Hera politely while playfully messing with Maggie causing her to giggle and bring smiles to the crew's faces.

"He's in his bunk room. You'll find him by using the Force. Meanwhile, I'll help get Maggie situated in her new room that she will be sharing with you since Sebil needs his own room for painting and Zeb's room is for any other boys we pick up along the way," Hera explained while gently holding her arms out to hold Maggie in.

Maggie looked into Hera's eyes, like her sister had taught her, and saw the trust within them before allowing herself to be transferred into Hera's arms while Era climbed up the ladder and headed into the hallway towards Kanan's room. She stopped outside of it and took a deep breath in before pressing a button to open the door and saw Kanan sitting on his bed, with the same Holocron floating downwards towards him. He opened his eyes and saw Era standing there with his lightsaber in her right hand. Era watched as Kanan smiled, got up, and walked over to her as she walked to him to meet him in the middle.

She then gave Kanan his lightsaber back and he placed a gentle hand on her right shoulder while giving her a gentle smile. That was the day everything had changed for young Era, as well as the Ghost crew and her little sister Maggie forever. This was the start of a new rebellion of hope with two Jedi's now on board, as well as two special children, and might be the start of a new family bond.

Here is the last part of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of the Rebellion in my own version, next up will be the Droids in Distress. But anyway hope you all love it and little Maggie finally makes an appearance with the same type of powers that Era has. I've been wanting to put little Maggie in the story ever since I saw Madzie in Season 2 of Shadowhunters cause I just fell in love with the character so badly that I realized that I never added a character like that in one of my books yet. So, why not make this a challenge and add 5 year old little Maggie into the story as Era's younger adoptive sister? What do you all think of her? Please no haters. Read, Vote, Comment, and Follow. Shayelee8 Out! Peace!
