Suu Leh-Lawquane and the Secret

This story starts three months after The Last Jedi ended, 34ABY.

Despite being late into the evening, Gwren Leh-Lawquane was still in the fields of her farm on Felucia when she saw the x-wing approach. She had been checking on a pregnant Eopie who had decided to lie down in the middle of her nysillin field and her droid farmers were having difficulties doing there job because of this, Gwren could not get the stubborn Eopie to movie either and gave up when she saw the ship.

"Those nerfherders!"

Gwren knew that Felucia was Resistance sympathetic, and she had heard of the massacre of the Hoznian system by the First Order some months back, but she did not like the soldiers acting like they could do anything they wanted in the name of saving the galaxy and she did not want them bringing the war to her farm. She ran back to her farm house where the x-wing was landing in a clearing. As the ships engines quieted and the hatch opened she started yelling at the pilot she couldn't yet see.

"You stupid nerfherder! This is private property, my property, what make you think you can land here! I don't want your stupid war on my farm!"

The pilot emerged from the ships cockpit and Gwren realized her mistake. The pilot wore a helmet, but light red Lekku hung from the back making the pilot almost unmistakable.

"Oh, it's you. Suu, you idiot, I always suspected you joined that stupid army, but I really didn't think it was true. What were you thinking!"

Suu took off her helmet and climbed down the ladder. This was the first time in five years Gwren had seen her sisters face, and she didn't want to see her face after how she abandoned her to be a mechanic with her father, which clearly now was a lie. She looked about the same as always, her red face was simple but much prettier then Gwren's, her pointed ears made her stand out from almost any other female Twi'lek, but she also seemed different, her face was slightly more full and she let her human eyebrows actually grow.

"Gwren, I'm not here to start a fight, but I'm not here to apologize either."

As she walked to her she started to unzip her baggy orange flightsuit.

"Than why are you here."

"I, um, I need your help, I couldn't go to dad for this, I um."

"You need MY help, you have some nerve, you left when I needed your help, I wanted to start a new life on this world and all I had was you but than you left and I had to do it all on my own, so what makes you think I'd help yo-"

Gwren could not finish however because the answer had just because quite apparent. Suu had finished unzipping her flightsuit and was now stepping out of it, revealing her much more formfitting clothes underneath which showed off her swelled belly.

"Suu, you're pregnant. Okay, okay, come inside, it's late."

"Thanks, we really need to talk."

They went inside and Gwren brought Suu some leftovers from her supper. The house was made from a bunch of random materials like ship hulls and wood, but just like there grandmothers place it held together just fine. It was small, two bedrooms on the second floor, and on the first there was only the kitchen, and a bath, as well as a cellar, that was it. As she entered the kitchen Suu realized there was only one chair at the table, the one she was sitting on.

"What happened to Illza, I thought she was moving in when I left?"

"She did, we were happy, then we weren't, she left over a year ago, I was with a Kyuzo named Dirgo, they left a while ago, you've been gone a long time."

"I'm sorry for not keeping contact. I'd like to say I didn't stay in contact solely to protect you from my job, but that'd be a lie. We had a fight, we were both hurt, and I didn't know how to start over with you, I'm sorry about that."

"Yeah, well I didn't really try to reach out to you either, so I guess we're even"

Gwren now being in the light of her home Suu could get a good look at her. She skin was still the same shade of near Caucasian brownish-orange, with her tattooed brown rings at the end of her Lekku which hadn't grown at all and were still the unnaturally short shoulder length. Her eyes were still brown, but they seemed aged, and her face showed how she had been over worked. Suu could see being alone had not been kind to her.

"So, did you have a Resistance boyfriend who knocked you up than dump you and left you with nothing, or something?"

Suu put her head down.

"No, well, no, that's not the full story. I have to tell you what has happened the past five years and what happened recently, but I need you to promise whatever happens you won't tell anyone anything, not the Resistance, not the First Order, not the Force Wielders, nobody."

"Force Wielders?"

Slowly Suu told her about how she did in fact join there father originally just to be a mechanic but when Resistance came asking if he'd join, she did instead. How she raised in ranks and became head technician on D'Qar when she met Jacen.

"We met at a meeting almost two years ago. He introduced himself as Belac Cham, he had bright blonde hair and blue eyes. I took interest right away, but he avoided my attempts to form a connection with me, but after a long time we started a relationship. That's when I started noticing weird things, he never cut his hair shorter than chin length, whenever he was flushed, and in our relationship that was frequent, he flushed a green hue. His hair roots were also green sometimes which I should have guessed was his actual hair colour, but I didn't. And whenever I felt I was finally breaking down the barriers he put up the next time I saw him he'd be dark, distant, and cut off. I just thought he was hurting from something in his past, I wished I had left him after these first signs of him having a dark side to him, but I never once thought about leaving him, I had fallen in love, and I thought he had fallen completely for me as well."

"What did he do, did he leave you once he learned he was the father? What species was he if he wasn't human?"

"He doesn't know I'm pregnant, and it has to stay that way. He didn't exactly leave me, more like he escaped the Resistance, he was a spy for Kylo Ren, a evil Force Wielder. The last time I saw Belac he was at a religious expo held on the Raddus when we were all trying to escape the clutches of the First Order, he had promised to go, and he was there, but he once again seemed so dark and we got into a fight and he left, I only found out later where he went. On Crait's surface General Organa, rest her soul, took me aside and filled me in on the basis of the truth, and I did some research to fill in some of the gaps. Belac was actually born Jacen Syndulla."

"Syndulla? Like the great Cham Syndulla, freer of Ryloth?"

"Yes, he is his grandson. He was the son of the Rebellion's General Syndulla and a human Jedi. Leia said his name was Kanan Jarrus. I guess he is like uncle Var, human in appearance but with grandmother's skin colour as his hair colour. Jacen was supposedly skilled in both flying and the force, so he, as well as over a dozen others were sent to train with Luke Skywalker."

"So your ex was a Jedi?"

"For a time, yes, but from what Leia told me, that is no longer the case. She said that one night, another young Jedi went to what she called the dark side, like Emperor Palpatine, and that he took a few other students with him and burned the temple and everyone inside to the ground. The bodies that were found were barely skeletons, so she thought that another human male was misidentified as him. The only other thing I know is he was a liar and a traitor to the Resistance when he betrayed us to return to his dark master. If he finds out about about my babies he will come for them, kill me, and do who knows what to them."

"Did you say babies?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm so big, I'm only four months along, but the med-droid confirmed I am having twins. Than I erased its memory and blasted it for good measure. Anyway, I need to ask a rather big favour of you, something you won't want to do but I have no other choice and I'm desperate."

Suu then went on to ask her sister for her to stay on her farm until she gave birth and for a little after that. Her reason being that because of her hard feelings for Gwren, she never really spoke of her to Jacen and therefore she didn't know her location. Gwren agreed to this with the deal that Suu worked for her in anyway she could during her pregnancy. Fix the robotic field hands and farm equipment, look after the animals, clean and cook.

This arrangement went well and slowly the two sisters began to bond again. Gwren suggested Suu dismantle her x-wing and slowly sell its parts at different venders in town to save up for another ship that didn't scream Resistance and that was what she did. Some nights Gwren would come check on Suu as she dismantled and would find her longingly looking at the stars, sometimes crying.

One day, far along in the pregnancy, where all Suu could really do was waddle around, she asked her sister an impossible question. Suu knew too keep the children safe, to lay off suspicion of having a family from all parties, that she would have to return to fight with the Resistance, leaving the two children behind. Gwren did not take this well, she had granted Suu safety for the time of her pregnancy, she did not agree to raise her kids for her. Suu assured her that she would return as often as she could and help out for as long as she could whenever she was there, but this still led to a big argument that went on into the night.

A couple nights later, exactly eight months since the Resistance escaped the First Order at Crait, Suu went into labour. Not wanting to leave any record of the pregnancy, the to sisters did not buy or hire a med-droid, but instead Gwren had studied childbirth and bought in advance the equipment and pain medication necessary for the process. It was a long day of stress, emotions, and pain, at one point Suu thought she was going to die and that that had been Jacen's plan all along, but just before dawn struck the farm she was holding her children.

The girl was a Lethan Twi-Lek just like her mother, with her red skin actually being a shade darker than her mother. The only sign of her hybrid status was she also possessed a pare of round human ears, without even the pointiness of her mothers. Suu quickly noticed she had her father's eyes, something she didn't mention to Gwren.

The boy was more obviously a hybrid, although he had light green skin and Lekku, his face was more human like and he seemed to be growing green and brown hair on the top of his head and under his Lekku. His eyes were a lovely shade of brown, much more in line with his maternal family.

"Gwren, they are beautiful, thank you for helping me do this, I would have died without you."

Gwren's face grew a satisfied smirk at this remark, but than just smiled at the two hybrids.

"Would you like to hold one of them?"

"Um, yeah, sure."

So Suu than gently handed her the girl and Gwren held her in her arms. She didn't understand it right away, but the moment the little baby girl was in her arms she felt as if the love in her heart had just extended to these two new living beings.

"I accept."

"Accept what?"

"I'll look after them while you fight for all our right to be free, and if something should happen to you I'll raise them as my own. I won't let any harm come there way, just promise nothing will happen to you."

"I can't promise that, but I will be careful Gwren, that I can promise."

After Suu got some rest, she finally decided on a name for each of her children. She decided to name the girl Talon after a Ryloth freedom fighter of legend, and the boy Atsen, something that she had thought up herself. She love her children instantly, but whenever she looked at them she couldn't help see bits and pieces of there father, and the thought occurred to her that if things had been difficult, if he had been different, he'd be standing beside her now in wonder of the family they had created. Instead she pushed those thoughts down and just enjoyed the presence of her little angels.
