You quickly made your way through the halls of the rebel base, adjusting your blaster in its holster that was attached to your hip as you walked, pushing past everyone in your way.
Today, you were finally getting to leave base again. You were going on a mission with Luke, Han and Chewbacca.
It had been ages since you'd got to leave and you were beyond excited, so excited that you barely paid attention to anything you were told once the words, "You're going on a mission" were uttered. All you picked up was that it was something about finding a new recruit on Tatooine. It barely mattered to you anyway, all you cared about was that you were finally getting to leave.
Reaching the hangar's entrance, you make your way towards the Millennium Falcon, ready for your mission.
Everything was going smoothly until you came to a stop just outside of the Falcon doors when you spotted Luke standing there.
"What?" He asks, furrowing his eyebrows as he watches you stand frozen, staring at him.
"You're going to wear that, with that?" You snarled, eyeing his outfit choice. You always questioned his fashion sense - especially when it came to his famous poncho - but now, looking at that poncho with that hat? It was too much.
"What, there's nothing wrong with it." He defends himself, adjusting his hat. Once he's finished, you reach up pulling it off his head before stuffing it in your pocket. "Hey!" He yells, raising his arms.
You roll your eyes, "Whatever, poncho boy."
You push past him and onto the ship, greeting Chewie and Han as you step inside the cockpit. Luke follows behind you, repeating your actions.
"So, do we all know the plan?" Han asks and Chewie lets out a roar.
"I don't." You say, leaning against the pilot seat where Han was sitting.
"We're going to find some guy on Tatooine - tall, lanky, dark hair, big nose - we have to keep a low profile and bring him back to base. He should approach us, so we'll know him when we see him." Han explains.
"Sounds clear enough." You nod, taking a sit behind him as the ship sends off into the air.
_
"No, no, no. I am not putting that thing on my body." Han groaned as he stared down at the two poncho's dangling in Luke's hands.
You reach out, grabbing one with a small sigh before pulling it over your head. Sure, you weren't too fond of the idea of wearing the thing but you weren't stubborn like Han.
"You have too. This guy is expecting three people in ponchos, not two!" Luke complains, clearly irritated with him.
"Will it really matter if there are only two people in poncho's, I mean-" You roll your eyes, cutting Han off.
"Just put the damn poncho on!" You yelled, crossing your arms.
"Fine." He gives in, putting it on quickly but not before sending you a harsh glare. Making matters worse, you let out a small snicker once you see Han with the poncho on, "Hey, watch it!" He snaps, pointing his finger at you.
"Oh, lighten up!" You say as they both look at you with unamused faces, "Look at you, my boys... my poncho boys."
They both ignore you, turning away and getting off the ship.
"Tough crowd." You mumble, crossing your arms in front of your chest. Chewie lets out a loud growl from your side, agreeing with you before he, too, leaves the ship.
You make your way behind them as they come to a stop in front of the building you dreaded going into.
When you knew this mission was on Tatooine, the thought of this place was the first thing that came to mind, but you were hopeful, telling yourself that there were a million places you could be going, how could you possibly end up here? Yet here you stood.
"Really?" You groan, walking in between Han and Luke. "The Cantina? You guys know how much I hate this place!"
"Yeah, we know but we have to do this." Luke informs you, patting your shoulder for comfort.
"Actually, I don't. Why do you hate this place so much again?" Han asks and you look over to him, sending him a glare.
"Every time I find myself in this place, there's always someone on my case, trying to get with me if you know what I mean."
"Oh," Han simply replies.
"Don't worry about it." Luke adds, sending you a small smile, "You've got your poncho boys to protect you!" He chuckles and you smile at him.
"Plus, no one will want to be near you while you're wearing that thing." Han chimes in, motioning towards your poncho.
You roll your eyes before speaking up, "Let's get this over with then."
When you walk in, you're greeted with the usual atmosphere. Loud music mixed in with loud cheers and nonsense coming from the many creatures and people throughout the place.
You sit at a table next to Luke while Han and Chewie searched the area. You order a drink for yourself and Luke, turning to face him as a thought pops into your head,
"You know, if we're going to be splitting up, there was no real point in the ponchos." You point out, bringing the drink to your lips.
He shrugs, "I just really wanted to see how ridiculous Han would look in a poncho."
After you let out a small chuckle, you turn back to your drink as silence grows between the two of you. You scan the room in search of the guy you came for.
A loud voice catches your attention from nearby causing you to look over and your face drops,
"Luke!" You nudge the boy next to you.
"What?" He snaps, looking annoyed until he see's your worried face. "What's wrong?"
"That guy over there! I used to, you know, date him." You tell him awkwardly, looking down at your drink.
"Him?" He questions, a disgusted look on his face as he watches the guy chug back some weird green mixture from a glass.
"Sadly, yeah." You reply, bringing your drink to your lips once again as you look over and he spots you, a wicked smirk spreading across his face.
"Oh, no. He's coming this way." You mumble to Luke, hiding your face as you see him growing closer.
"What do we do?" Luke questions, looking over at you. You stare at him for a few seconds, trying to come up with a plan when something unthinkable comes to mind. Your head shifts over to see him almost to your table now, causing you to panic and go with your unthinkable plan.
You grab Luke's face without warning, smashing your lips against his.
He was shocked at first, sitting like a brick, until he realized what was going on and he slowly fluttered his eyes shut and kissed you back, bringing one hand up to tangle in your hair and snaking the other around your waist.
Being too afraid to see your ex, you kept the kiss going and you were really starting to enjoy it. His lips were soft and comforting, everything about it just felt, right.
Luke suddenly pulls away, panting as he moves his hand from your hair to cup your cheek, "That was... unexpected." He breathes, his face inches apart from yours.
"Maybe I panicked. Just a little." You admit, shrugging your shoulder.
"A little?" He adds, a smirk on his face.
"Whoa, whoa." A voice catches your attention and you pull away from Luke quickly. Luckily, it wasn't your ex - he was long gone, "Whoa, what the hell?" It was Han.
"There was this guy an-" Luke starts to explain but Han cuts him off by raising his arms up.
"Save it, I found the guy, we have to get going." He says before turning away and heading towards the exit.
You look over to Luke to see him already staring back at you. You crack out a smile and so does he, right before the two of you burst out laughing.
"Let's go, poncho boy." You smile, grabbing his hand and leading him outside.
