"I miss Rey."
Your words hung through the empty air leaving a tone of sadness behind. The only sound that could be heard was the steady beeping of a heart monitor.
"I miss Finn." You spoke again, sighing while staring over at Finn's almost lifeless frame.
"Me, too." A voice sounds from beside you. Forgetting the man was there, your eyes widened for a second until you looked over to see Poe staring at Finn with a sad expression.
He sighs and as if it were contiguous, you sigh right after.
"Has General Organa heard anything from Luke and Rey?" You question, knowing it was doubtful that he would even know since he spent most of his time in here, but it was worth a shot.
"No," He replies and you sigh again.
You looked behind you to see piles of people rushing around the base, as usual. The First Order had been crippled but that didn't stop the war. Everyone was still on high alert and it was just a gloomy atmosphere as only a dangle of hope lingered through the air.
Something catches your eye from the corner of the room, Leia. She had a small, warm smile on her face as she stood talking with Threepio. You grew curious so you focused all your attention on her, trying to read her lips.
Suddenly, she looks over in your direction, as if she knew you were staring and she gives you a smile, nodding her head, motioning you to come over.
You immediately shoot up from your chair, rushing towards her, "What is it General?"
"Oh, you'll see." She responds with a wicked grin before heading up the stairs, towards the exit.
As you step outside, the sunlight shines in your eyes causing you to squint, but you could still make out the sight in front of you and your mouth dropped.
It was the Millennium Falcon. The one you had last seen months ago as it took off with Rey and Chewbacca onboard.
Rey and Luke walk out of the ship and your feet immediately pick up, your sights set on the girl you missed so much.
Her face lit up as she seen your frame running towards her, "Y/N!"
"Rey!" You called back, trapping her in a hug. You had missed the feeling of her arms wrapped around you. It was a feeling that nothing else could compare to. You felt safe in her arms - protected and loved. A feeling she too had felt, for the first time in a long time
You pull back from the hug, wanting to see her beautiful face. You caress her cheeks with both of your hands and examined every part of her face; each freckle, each tiny detail.
"I missed you." She whispers, wrapping her arms around your neck.
With watery eyes, you replied, "I missed you, too."
She smiled and you couldn't take it any longer. You connected your lips to hers, the warmth of her lips sending a soothing feeling through your body.
As you pulled back from the kiss, you rested your forehead against hers as you both embrace the moment, relaxing.
Off in the distance, General Leia and her brother, Luke had already had their reunion and they now stood in a comfortable silence as they watched you two.
"So much for attachments are forbidden." Luke notes, a chuckle escaping his lips.
"Isn't the first time it happened." Leia adds, sending Luke a look that says 'Yeah, I was at your forbidden wedding, I should know' and Luke slightly rolls his eyes.
In that moment, a thought occurred to you, "Do you think they're watching us?" You whisper to Rey as your forehead still rested against hers.
"I know they are." She whispers back, a smile playing on her face.
"The force?" You question with a smirk.
"Something like that." She chuckles lightly.
You pull back, "Come on, we have a lot of catching my up to do." You say, intertwining your hand in hers.
Rey rambles off about her adventures as you walk hand in hand back into the base.
She told stories of everything see had learned, the things she'd seen. It was amazing the stories she told and you didn't look away, not even for a second.
She could have been talking about rocks and you'd still pay attention in full detail. Her voice was just so captivating.
"Rey," You speak, interpreting her.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for coming home." You smile.
Rey was caught off guard by your sudden seriousness but she smiled back, "Thank you for giving me a place to call home." She replies and once again, your lips are on hers.
You were her home.
