...

Love was a strange thing, it was a foreign thing for you almost your whole life. You never really felt what true love was until Obi-Wan came into your life.

From the moment you saw him, there was just something about him. You were drawn to him and there was no way you were going to let him slip away.

It took you no time to become close with him. He opened your eyes to what life was all about. He showed you the wonders of the galaxy, he made you feel something, he made you kind and he filled you with knowledge. He showed you that people are caring beings and people can truly be compassionate.

It wasn't long before you were sure you were in love with him and it wasn't long until you told him.
You almost thought that he showed interest in you but it was just false hope. One night, you were rambling off about something and it just spilled out. He was shocked, it was something he never picked up on, which was strange for him. His first thought when you had told him was the Jedi code, no attachments, and that's what he had told you. He stayed true to the Jedi way. Although you admired his loyalty, you cursed it in that moment.

You couldn't understand why you held onto your love for him so long. No matter how many times you tell yourself to get over it - get a grip - you just couldn't because he was everywhere. He was in your dreams, in your thoughts and he was one of your good friends - actually the only person you really had left.

Obi-Wan had a Padawan, Anakin, and he had a wife, Padmè. You had quickly befriended them through Obi-Wan and hey had came into your life as proof that people truly could care about you and they stuck to it. They had always been there for you, through everything. They were the greatest people you'd ever met, but now they were gone.

Anakin had chosen the dark side, dooming Padmè's life and leaving his children behind. Not only that, he had left everything behind.

Little sweet Ani - the boy who loved and cared so much for his wife, who was so excited to become a father, who was so loyal to his friends - he was dead, replaced by a heartless creature in a mask, Darth Vader.

And now, the last fibre of your two friends was left alone in the galaxy. Their two children, innocent little beings who would never know their mother and father, it was heartbreaking.

The only thing left to do for you and Obi-Wan was to make sure these kids grew up happy and safe.

The girl, Leia, was brought to Alderaan and left in the care of Queen Breha Organa and her husband, Senator Bail Organa. Obi-Wan was sure they were fit to raise her properly with love and kindness.

The boy, Luke, he was brought to Anakin's home planet, Tatooine, and left in the care of Owen Lars and his wife, Beru Lars.

You had fought with him over Luke, telling him that he should be in the care of anyone else as you knew Tatooine wasn't safe for a child but Obi-Wan had insisted that these two were perfectly capable of raising him well.

As a compromise, Obi-Wan suggested the two of you stay on Tatooine to watch over Luke from a distance, making sure he was safe.

You weren't too keen on the idea at first thinking that it would only make things harder for the two of you to get over your loss, but this was the only way you could ensure the child's safety so you agreed.

Time passed by slowly each and every day. It was difficult for you to forget but you were getting by, it was Obi-Wan that really worried you.

He blamed himself for everything and it was hard to see him beat himself up over it. Anakin was like a brother to him. He loved and cared for him and not only did he die, he betrayed him, something that hurt even more.

And it only grew worse and worse as timed passed.

You felt him drifting away. He could barely hold eye contact with you anymore. He talked, but only when he had too and when he did, he'd barely speak more than a short sentence. You had always tried your best to help him, but he'd only push you away.

Today was one of his bad days. You could hear is muffled sobs from his bedroom and it broke your heart. You had left him alone for too long so you decided to try and comfort him.

"Obi-Wan." You kept your voice low and gentle as you entered his room. He was sitting on his bed, his head in his hands. You slowly walked over to him, sitting next to him. Your actions were gentle and careful as if he would break if you made any sudden movements.

"It's okay." You encouraged, placing a hand on his knee. He removes his head from his hands to look up at you.

His eyes were red, his face drained. After moments of silence, he spoke, "No, it's not." It wasn't an angry response like you'd expected, it was weak and full of pain, which only made your heart ache more.

"Yes, it is. It may be hard now but time heals everything." You choose your words carefully. You weren't the best at making people feel better.

"Time has passed, but that's never going to erase the fact that I could have stopped this from happening!" He snapped.

"That's not true! You couldn't have stopped it even if you tried. It was written and stone."

He scoffs, "It was written in stone that Anakin would bring balance to the force - bring down the Sith for good - not become one."

"Everything happens for a reason. Maybe one day he will bring balance to the force. There has to be light left in him."

"Don't be ridiculous." He snaps, standing up and pacing across the room.

"I'm just trying to help."

"Well, you can't and you won't!" He shouts back, "You need to stop this! It isn't helping, it's only making it worse. You being here is making everything worse!"

That one really hurt you. You felt like breaking down and letting out every emotion you had been bottling up - all the sadness, anger, and fear - but you kept a straight face, only letting a few tears escape.

"If that's how you feel then I'll leave," You say quietly before standing up. You linger for a bit, waiting to see if he apologizes, but he stays silent.

You decided to take a walk, to let him cool off for a bit. He would be fine if you just left him alone for a while, you hoped. As you walked through the rough desert sand, your mind drifted off.

This whole situation was a mess. It was like the galaxy was plotting against you, taking everything away from you. You had lost your family at a young age, you were alone until you met Obi-Wan. Then you met Padmé and Anakin and you were finally happy again until they were taken away and now, you were losing Obi-Wan, too.

It only hurt more, the fact that you were still in love with him. He was changing, the man you once fell in love with all those years ago was pushing you away.

A loud noise jolted you from your thoughts, making yourself aware of your surroundings. Your heart raced as your head whipped around, looking in everything direction. It was probably nothing, but for some reason, you had a bad feeling about it so you kept your guard up as you continued to walk.

Before you could even react to the next noise you hear, you're sent to the ground with a harsh thud. Your ears were ringing as you felt a cold liquid run down your face. You reach up to touch it and quickly pull back to see blood on your fingertips. Panic rushes over you causing you to move to your feet but you're pushed to the ground once again.

The last thing you see before everything turns dark are Obi-Wan's soft, worried features.
He had felt a disturbance in the Force and he knew you were in danger. Without thought, he came to your aid, letting the Force guide him to you, but he was too late. He took a hold of your almost lifeless body, bringing you close to his chest. He felt your pulse, it was alarmingly slow and he knew you slipping away.

His heart jumped when you started to stir, your eyes fluttering open. A weak smile cracks your face as you look up at Obi-Wan's watering eyes. You gather up every bit of strength you had left, just so you could feel his soft skin against your own once more. Silent tears fall as you caress his cheek, "Don't worry. Everything will be okay."

You wanted to believe it, but you both knew it wasn't true.

"Please don't leave me." He croaks out, tears blurring his vision.

All of your strength disappears and only seconds later you slip away forever. Become yet another tragedy in Obi-Wan's story.

He had lost you and he truly felt lost himself. He was alone now - regretful and alone.

Days strung by, months passing, as he tried to deal with his grief but everywhere he looked, he was reminded of you. Your laugh echoed through his skull and your smile was implanted in his mind.

He missed you, more than he could ever imagine. You were always by his side, from the moment you became friends. He had seen you every day since he had met you, but now, he'd never see you again.

His heart was broken and he couldn't keep the memory of you out of his mind. He had never truly realized how important you were to him until now and this was yet another thing for him to regret.

He finally came to his senses and realized he truly did love you. He was in love with you.

But now you were gone.
