Y/N's P.O.V

We've just made it to the Imperial base to rescue Hera.

The four of us land down on a platform on the Imperial Dome.

Sabine, Jacen and I take our helmets off.

Y/N: No alarms. So far so good.

Kanan: People never pay enough attention to the world around them.

I turn to him.

Y/N: It's a good thing you taught me otherwise.

Kanan: You're a good listener, Y/N. It served you here and it'll serve you again in the future. Same goes for Jacen.

Y/N: What do you mean?

Sabine comes over.

Sabine: I hate to break up the moment, but we've gotta keep moving.

She hands Kanan magnetic climbers.

Sabine: Magnetic climbers. They'll stick to the Dome's surface.

Kanan: Perfect, thank you.

I look over the edge before going back over to Kanan.

Y/N: Okay, Pryce's office is about six levels down. Hera should be...

Kanan: I know where she is.

Jacen: Me too. I can still feel it.

Kanan smiles.

Kanan: That's good, son.

Y/N: Alright, we'll get the ship.

Jacen: Just signal us when you're ready.

He nods.

After that Jacen, Sabine and I go to the nearby ladder.

Kanan: Hey, kids.

We turn to him.

Kanan: May the force be with you.

Jacen: You too, dad.

Kanan then drops down.

The three of us put our helmets on and go up the ladder.

Hopefully, Kanan can get in there without any problems.

(Five minutes later)

Third person perspective

In Pryce's office two Stormtroopers are guarding Hera.

She spots Kanan outside and realises what's about to happen.

Hera: I'm gonna be honest, guys. You two are in terrible trouble. I just wonder how he's gonna get in.

Just then a lightsaber comes through the floor and the Stormtrooper falls out of the office.

Hera: Oh, I thought he'd come through the window.

Kanan climbs in and uses the force to throw the other Stormtrooper out of the window.

He then destroys the interrogation droid before kicking it down the hole.

After that he destroys the door panel with his saber before freeing Hera.

Kanan: Sorry, I guess I'm a little late.

Hera: I forgive you.

She falls into his arms.

Kanan: Oh, I see. We're in a special mood thanks to the interrogation droid.

Hera: Well, I didn't like that droid, Kanan.

Kanan: I didn't like that droid either.

He helps her walk.

Hera: Is Jacen okay? Is he here?

Kanan: He's okay and he's here. He's with Y/N and Sabine. They're getting us a transport.

After that Kanan pulls the climbers and gets Hera out of the office.

Y/N's P.O.V 

So, we've just made it to the hanger bay.

The whole Dome is on alert as Kanan and Hera have been spotted.

We make it to a gunship and Sabine deals with the real pilot.

A Stormtrooper looks at me.

Stormtrooper: Uh, Commander... why is there a cadet here?

Jacen: I, uh...

Y/N: Well, this cadet has ranked at the top of all his classes, so his trainer thought it'd be good for him to come along. Watch how we do our jobs. Do you have a problem with that, trooper?

Stormtrooper: No, Commander. Of course not.

We hang on as the gunship takes off.

As Sabine flies the ship we find out that Kanan and Hera got away.

They're at the fuel depot.

Jacen: (Whispers) They got away.

Y/N: (Whispers) I know.

Just then Sabine comes over our comms.

Sabine: Hey, hon. You and Jacen might wanna hold on.

Jacen and I nod before grabbing on.

Y/N: Sorry, guys. This is where you get off.

Sabine turns the gunship and the Stormtroopers fall out.

She straightens out before heading to the fuel depot.

Jacen and I take our helmets off.

Jacen: Now, let's get mum and dad.

Sabine: We're on it, Jacen.

(Ten minutes later)

Sabine flies us to the feul depot and we fly in to see Kanan and Hera kissing on the top of the pod.

Sabine turns the ship around.

Y/N: Okay, lovebirds, enough of that. It's time to go.

They both laugh before coming over.

Third person perspective

As Hera climbs onto the gunship Kanan senses something.

He turns to see cannon fire hit the fuel pod.

Jarrus quickly rushes forward and uses the force to hold the flames back.

Hera runs to him.

Hera: Kanan!

The Jedi holds her up with the force.

He then pushes her back into the gunship.

Y/N and Jacen catch her and the three watch as Kanan uses all his force power to keep the flames at bay.

Kanan holds his arm out and looks back at Y/N, Hera and Jacen.

He takes this moment to look at the threw people he loves the most one last time.

Jarrus then uses both hands to force push the gunship, allowing himself to get consumed by the flames.

Y/N yells out to Sabine as Hera and Jacen cry out.

Y/N: Get us out here!

Sabine gains control of the gunship and flies away as the fuel depot explodes.

The Jedi Master Kanan Jarrus is now dead.

He gave his life for the people he loved the most and for Lothal.

(One hour later)

The gunship makes it back to the Rebel base.

Zeb walks over along with BD-2 and Chopper.

The ship touches down and Sabine immediately gets out.

She throws her helmet to the ground and storms off.

Zeb: Sabine, what happened? Where's Kanan?

He looks over to see Jacen run off in tears with his mother going after him.

Chopper: (Grunts.)

He goes off the mother and son.

Zeb sees Y/N walk over with tears in his eyes.

The young Jedi falls to the ground and Zeb kneels down next to him.

Zeb: Kid, what happened out there? Where's Kanan?

Y/N: He's gone. 

Zeb: Gone? He was captured?

Y/N looks at him.

Y/N: No! He's just gone, Zeb.

Zeb looked down as he knew what Y/N meant.

Kanan is dead.

The Lasat pulls Y/N into a hug to comfort him and BD rests in Y/N's lap.

Y/N didn't just lose his old Master. He lost a man who was like his brother.
