Chapter 12: An Old Jedi Temple

Y/N's P.O.V

We make it back to the Ghost and puts the Phantom into place.

Kanan and I go to join the other's.

Sabine: Welcome back, you two.

Zeb: You outsmarted them again. Good job, boss.

Hera: You made it.

Kanan: Was there any doubt?

Hera: Never.

She looks to me.

Hera: Y/N, I...

Kanan: Y/N needs a little time to himself right now.

I walk out of the room and go down to the nose gun compartment.

(Fifteen minutes later)

Right now I'm just looking out into the emptiness of space.

I hear footsteps and see Sabine out of the corner of my eye.

She sighs.

Sabine: Rough couple of days.

Y/N: Yeah... it's been hard.

Sabine: Kanan told us about what happened. I'm so sorry about your parents.

Y/N: Thanks. You know, I thought knowing the truth would make me feel better somehow, but I don't.

She comes over.

Sabine: I have just what you need.

She pull out a holo-disk.

Sabine: It's the holo-disk from your old house. It was pretty degraded, but I cleared it up and I found this.

She puts into the console next to her.

Just then a picture of my parents, my sister and I appears infront of me.

Y/N: Mum. Dad. And Serena. I remember this picture. This was taken on our third birthday, just before she was taken.

I look at Sabine.

Y/N: Thank you.

She leans in and kisses me on the cheek.

Sabine: You're welcome.

She then leaves and I just look at the picture.

After everything that's happened. I needed this.

(One week later)

(Planet: Lothal)

So, it's been a week since my incident on the asteroid.

Our crew is now back on Lothal.

I'm currently running through the grass back to the Ghost. I'm late for Jedi training.

I was helping Sabine and lost track of time.

I make it back to the Ghost and to to Kanan's room.

I open the door to see him sitting on his bed meditating.

Y/N: Hey Kanan, sorry I'm late. I was helping Sabine with something. So, you gonna invite me in?

Kanan: You didn't knock, so what makes you think you need an invite?

I go in and close the door.

Y/N: I'm sorry.

He stands and grabs his holocron.

Kanan: Then you should knock first.

I sit on his bed.

Y/N: Not for that, for missing training.

Kanan: It's all the same thing, the fact that you don't see it...

He sighs.

Kanan: Y/N, when we were on that asteroid you made a dangerous connection through the force. So, I need to know if you're ready.

Y/N: I am ready. Wait, ready for what?

Kanan: A real test. A test that'll determine if you're meant to be a Jedi, or not.

My eyes widen and I stand up.

Y/N: What? You said I was a Jedi. I mean why else would you be training me?

Kanan: I never said you were a Jedi, I said you had the potential to become one. A good one, but you lack discipline.

Y/N: But I'm getting better. You know I'm not used to all these rules and stuff.

I sigh.

Y/N: Kanan, I want to be the Jedi you see in. The Jedi that I don't always see in myself.

Kanan: You're lucky I'm not my Master. She'd never let you get away with...

Y/N: All the things you try to get away with?

He looks at me.

Kanan: Do you want another chance or not?

Y/N: Yes, if you want to give me one?

Kanan: I'm not giving you anything. Now go to the cockpit.

Y/N: As you say, Master.

I leave his room and go to the cockpit.

(Two hours later)

(Planet: Elphrona)

The Ghost comes out of hyperspace above a planet.

Y/N: Kanan, where are we?

Kanan: This is Elphrona.

Y/N: Okay, but why here?

Kanan: You'll find out. Hera, take us down.

Hera: Okay.

She flies down to the planet.

Once we land Kanan and I walk outside.

We see a temple off in the distance.

Y/N: Is that a Jedi Temple?

Kanan: Yes. It was temple built during the time of the High Republic. It holds great knowledge and it's where you'll take your test.

Y/N: What test, Kanan?

Kanan: You'll find out when you get inside. Go to the temple. We'll wait for you.

Y/N: Okay.

I start to walk away.

I turn back.

Y/N: Wait, what am I looking for?

Kanan: Nothing and everything.

Y/N: That doesn't help!

I just walk away.

Third person perspective

As Y/N walks away Kanan sighs.

Kanan: I know. That's what my Master told me.

He kneels down and starts mediating.

(Ten minutes later)

Y/N's P.O.V

After walking for about ten minutes I make it to the Jedi Temple.

Y/N: Damn. This place is old.

I look around and see two statues of Jedi and the Jedi symbol on the wall.

Y/N: You ready, BD?

BD-2: (Beeps.)

I chuckle.

Y/N: I'm glad you're so confident.

I go to the entrance and put my hand on the doors.

I close my eyes and focus on the force.

The doors open and I walk inside.

Third person perspective

Kanan is still sat outside the Ghost meditating.

He's starting to worry.

Kanan: Ah, the kid's taking too long.

Jarrus goes to stand when he hears a familiar voice.

Yoda: Patience. Remember nothing of your own training?

He kneels back down.

Kanan: Master Yoda, you're here.

Yoda: I am here, because you are here.

Kanan: Thank you, Master.

Yoda: Thank you? Nothing have I done. Hmm. Changed, something has.

Kanan: I've taken on a new Padawan.

Yoda: Padawan? Hmm. Now Master, you are. Of this decision, honest you must be.

He sighs.

Kanan: It's true. I'm honestly not sure of my decision to train Y/N. Not because him, but because of me. Because of who I am.

Yoda: A dangerous time this is for your Padawan, for you.

Kanan: I know, Master. I can sense it. I feel like his abilities are growing faster than I can teach him.

Yoda: You sense, or you fear?

Kanan: I lost my way. I won't let Y/N lose his way, not like I did.
