Chap. 7 - Secrets
The fight continued for long minutes in which the droids did everything possible to regain lost ground. Roy's strategy was very effective, but since he always passed when facing the droids, the strategies could be overcome with simple brute force and a lot of numbers.
The men of the 194th were beginning to fall one by one before the enemy fire. Those who were furthest from the junk wall had the greatest risk of being hit. The droids pressed harder and harder, and already Roy, Hammer and the commander along with the men stationed below were finding it more difficult to hold their position. If the 212th did not have something drastic, soon the 194th was doomed.
Clone: - Commander! We are losing many men! We must retreat! -
Hammer: -Negative soldier. If we leave this position we will be a perfect target shot. -
Commander: - Resist soldiers! Help is on the way! Take it for granted!
The clones got a second boost to their morale. They were ready to fight with all their might, but only those closest to them could see the commander's concern. The situation was precarious and depended on support that might not arrive on time. Suddenly.
Clone: - Artillery fire! -
The soldier's shout put everyone on alert. Artillery fire? The situation could not get worse. They were up against a rock and a hard place, an easy target for fire from a distance. Fortunately, the target of the salvoes were not the clones.
BOOM! BOOM! BAM!
Explosions shook the ground and stirred up debris. The droids behind the pile of junk were flying through the air as their positions were embraced by deadly artillery fire. The 194th was saved, hold position and regroup near their commander.
Clone: - They are one of ours! It's the general and the 212th! -
The clones celebrated the top of their colleagues. Just in time to avoid his tragic fate. The clones looked up at the sky in praise of the LAAT/i shuttles that dropped hundreds of clones of the 212th onto the battlefield. Only two of the 194th's clones were looking at something else.
Hammer and the commander looked at the strange attitude of the Padawan. Rather than celebrating his victory, Roy was more focused on tucking his lightsaber under his robes. They could swear that he was the one with the purple blade, which was a bit strange for the clones. If he had kept both sabers, it wouldn't be weird, or else he could have left it hanging on his belt, but no. He works hard to keep it. What was the young Padawan hiding? They guessed what they might ask him later. Now they had to deal with another being. Well, one of the shuttles had left General Pablo-Jill a few meters from his position.
Paul: - Commander. It's good to see them alive. -
Commander: - The pleasure is mine general. -
Pablo: - Captain, Lieutenant.-
Roy/Hammer: - General. -
Pablo: - A very risky strategy without a doubt. So far in front of enemy lines. But using their destroyed bodies as a barrier was very ingenious. -
Commander: - Actually... -
Roy: - He had to have seen it! He interrupted hastily. -He jumped in front of the unit and we all followed him. We didn't know what he was thinking, but when we managed to contain the tinkers, everything became clear. -
Paul: - Lieutenant. I remind you that it is impolite to interrupt a superior. -
Roy: - Oh... I... I'm sorry. -
Pablo: - It's not me you should ask for forgiveness. -
Roy:-Oh. Sorry Commander, I was so excited I didn't realize it. I hope you'll excuse me. -
Commander: - Oh... Eh... Yes. Don't worry... I guess it happens to all of us. -
The commander was further confused by the fact that the Padawan had changed history and gave him all the credit for interrupting him. What was he trying to achieve? He may find humble beings who don't care about glory or fame, but that was very different from denying it completely. There were many doubts, and the only thing he could see was his general retiring next to the Padawan talking about trivial things. Roy was hiding his abilities... but why.
Commander: - Hammer. You've been with the Padawan the longest. Can you explain to me what is happening? -
Hammer: - That I would like to know. It's not normal to act like that. He is a genius. But he refuses to be recognized. -
Commander: - I don't think it's that. Looks like Roy is hiding something. -
Hammer: -Is he saying it to change history? It's not the first time he's done it. -
Commander: - It's not just that. You yourself saw how he kept the other saber. Almost as if he didn't want... The general to see him...-
Hammer: - Any kind of resentment towards the general? -
Commander: - I don't think so. It's like... It's like he's afraid of something... Like he doesn't trust the general. -
Hammer: - Not trusting your superior is... difficult... -
Commander: - I know. I know it very well. I know how dangerous it can be also. We'll have to talk to the young man. At least he sees us more as his peers. -
Hammer: - I guess we all have problems. Very good. I'll try to talk to him in the barracks. -
Commander: - I'll go with you. -
Fortunately for all, the action north of the capital city was the last theater of war on the planet. Now definitely the 194th and 212th had taken full control of Christophsis. The planet and solar system of the same name were now under Republic control.
The high command met one last time to say goodbye and wish him good luck. Pablo found the praise that the boy received from Commander Cody somewhat strange, something that even Obi-Wan himself found strange, because Cody was not one of those who praised people a lot. Still, the lack of context and clear words couldn't give Pablo a clear idea of what they were talking about, and he simply thought the Padawan had performed well under his commander.
But war waits for no one. And Pablo had already received the next order and had to leave with the rest of the 194th battalion. In a long farewell by the men of the 212th. Who would proudly remember the bravery of the young Padawan they fought alongside.
Kenobi: - It's rare to see you so excited, my friend. Even praising someone so young. Did something happen while General Pablo and I were away? -
Cody: - You'd be surprised to hear it. -
Kenobi: - Really? Now I'm curious. -
Meanwhile, the 194th had already withdrawn into the fleet and was sailing through hyperspace towards an unknown destination. Not even the clone commander knew where he was going, so one could assume it would be a long journey. At least they could rest, for the battle of Christophsis had hit them harder than they thought.
Now in the bouts at least a quarter of the bunks were empty. All mourned the loss of their fallen brethren, and some not-so-strong-hearted whistled surreptitiously around the corners of the ship. Those who were in command had to be strong. Even if they wanted to mourn the loss of their brothers because they could afford that luxury. They were the main source of inspiration for the rest of their brothers, their main pillar of courage and confidence.
Two clones walked the halls of the Venator. They seemed to be doing a simple routine to inspect and boost the morale of the troops, but they had a second objective. They were looking for someone. The Commander and Hammer were looking for Roy, as they couldn't find him anywhere. He was not in the barracks, nor was he with his teacher on the command bridge. No one had seen him since they went into hyperspace and they feared he was somewhere up to some mischief.
Hammer: - Can you tell where the hell he has gone? -
Commander:-I'm worried about his acrimony. Will he be in some corner suffering from the ghosts of the battle? -
Hammer: - I don't think so. Roy doesn't seem to be one of those who regrets the past. I'm sure he's doing some mischief out there like any other boy. -
Then they heard some strange sounds coming from the training room. Funny, they didn't think anyone had enough energy to train after the battle, so they decided to take a look. When they opened the door they were stunned to see a poor boxing punch receiving the constant onslaught of Roy's punches.
The Padawan was young, but the clones could tell that his strength was even greater than their own, and they could see that from the violent way the punching bag shook. Despite being covered in his classic Jedi robes, it wasn't hard to imagine a muscular body under the Padawan's neck. How weird. That was not the image they had of how he should be a Jedi.
But why should they judge him? How clones, they themselves tried their best to achieve their individuality within the millions of similar ones they had. They knew very well what it meant to want to be different, and there was no one better than them to try to understand the boy.
Suddenly, a noise took them out of their thoughts. The punching bag could not contain the blows that Roy gave it, to the point of breaking in half before the powerful kick of a young man. Both clones looked stunned at the scene, because those sacks could receive several baster shots without even breaking, and a simple brat had made him give up. The most curious thing was that he did not seem to have used anything of what the Jedi called the Force.
The clones couldn't see him since Roy's back was turned, but the young man's face could strike fear into anyone. A bloody struggle inside him unbalanced him a bit, but he resisted with all his strength to not let himself be carried away by his emotions. One of the many disadvantages of making use of the Vaapad.
Roy's face was plagued with see nins that protruded from his skin, and his breathing was quite erratic, a product of the constant ailments that his body received. It was the second time she had happened to him since he joined the 194th, the first being when he had to brandish his mauve saber to defend the life of the clones behind his back. Luckily no one had seen it. So many secrets to hide in such a young body. Poor creature fearful of the consequences of his actions. The only hope that he could bring to the rest of the group was a false smile and the lie of speaking with words full of emotion and joy when he himself was consumed inside. Poor guy. How many secrets will he have hidden in his past?
Hammer: - Calm down, Tiger. That bag has already given up. -The sudden voice of him took the young man out of his thoughts.
Roy: - Hey Hammer... Oh. Commander, my apologies. They didn't know he was there. -
Commander: - Don't worry, Lieutenant. -
Hammer: - Hmm. I thought you Jedi could sense when others were approaching. I even heard that they could feel people's emotions just by looking at them. -
Roy: - Hmm. The Force itself is a mystery even to us. And we can't all reach the same potential no matter how much we want to. He-He said with a fake smile drawn on his face. - Besides... I'm just a Padawan. I can't even imagine all that the Outside is capable of. -
Commander: - It seems that the Force thing is as confusing for you as it is for us. -
Roy: - It seems so. -
A slight pause and a strange silence took over the place. A tranquility made the clones tense, as if hesitating or seriously selecting their next words. Thank the Force Hammer wasn't outspoken.
Hammer: - Roy... we wanted to ask you something. -
Roy: - Of course. -
Hammer: - Why do you hide your potential from the general? -
The question felt like a bucket of cold water on the young man. He didn't expect her to find out so soon. In fact, he didn't even think they would find out. He guessed that he had made some mistakes, or simply the clones were smarter and more perspective than he thought. They couldn't blame him, because most of the time young people think that adults don't notice some things when the opposite is true.
Roy's eyes darkened with a sad and empty look, although his mouth held that smile that felt more and more false. There was no point in him keeping up his facade of false strength. They had already discovered it. What sense did he have? But... he would be able to give an answer that would satisfy the curiosity of his superiors without any long-term consequences. Whatever the answer, Roy had to think carefully about his words and above all, stop lying to others and to himself.

Hello hello. What mysteries the adventures of this young man. I wonder what is the reason for so much secrecy. We'll find out, and the truth may be more shocking than any lie.
I actually want to apologize to you for making these chapters so empty. Well, now I don't have my computer and writing with my cell phone greatly reduces my writing options. Hence, I can't put photos or other things to enrich the story. But as soon as I get it back, everything will return to the quality that I demand of myself. I hope you like my story and don't forget to vote. Until the next time.
