(IV) Hiding the truth is just another kind of lie.
"After sleeping for a few hours due to the effect of the painkiller, I woke up at a checkpoint far from the combat zone. Fortunately, to heal me, they only removed the upper part of the armor and had not discovered my secret. My shoulder still hurt , and had it covered in bandages.
One of the doctors came over when he saw that I was awake. He removed the bandages allowing me to see the hideous scar the blaster had left on my skin. The doctor sprayed the wound and the pain was pretty much gone, although I still couldn't move it even a bit.
A transport picked me and the other clones up and took us back to the Venator cruiser waiting above the battlefield. They called it the Resolute, the flagship of the fleet.
Once inside the ship, the medical officers took the injured who were unable to move to sickbay. And those of us who could move on our own sent us to the barracks.
We were not many. A dozen or more dying clones were able to return to our beds. I remember my stateroom was empty. I was the only clone in that entire area of the ship. The silence was overwhelming and somehow depressing.
I very carefully took the lightsaber out of my pants and sat on my bed while looking at it in detail. It was just... beautiful. I turned it on to contemplate its light. The green light it projected alienated me. I felt like it was slowly drawing me in, and sometimes I forgot that it was one of the deadliest weapons in the galaxy.
Innocently, I began to play with it as if I was a child. I was trying to imitate the movements of a Jedi, but all I could manage was to make a mark on the frame of the bunk. I was shocked to see how the solid metal had given way to the power of the weapon. I stared at him again, and heard a voice behind me.
????: - That doesn't belong to you. -
I turned quickly, but there was no one behind me. I looked everywhere, even under the bunk beds, but couldn't find anything anywhere. I climbed on top of a box to check the ventilation system, but it was still empty. It must have been my imagination. Or maybe I was still under painkillers.
Soon after, I felt a noise that reverberated in the silent place. The rest of the clones had returned from combat and were closing in. Afraid of being discovered, I put the saber inside my locker and password-locked it. I knew if I was found out I could be in big trouble. So I just pretended I was asleep."
