*Father's Day Special*
It was early in the morning, and Ícaro was reviewing files in his camera specially designed for him. It was a day like any other, or at least for him, and he had no plans for the day or work to review. Yeah. It was just a quiet day inside the Oasis. Or so he believed.
"TONE. TONE. TONE."
A few light knocks caught his attention. Who could it be? As far as he could remember, he did not expect a visit from anyone. So he had no choice but to go check.
The metal door opened, and at first she couldn't see anyone given her tall height, but when she looked down, she could see little Tova standing timidly at her feet. Icarus didn't know why, but the little Nelvaana was more dressed up than usual. Her hair was pulled back into a neatly brushed ponytail, a modest but pretty baby blue dress that reached to her knees and curiously complemented her natural fur color. Somewhat high white stockings, and black shoes made a strange combination with the big white bow that she wore on her head. A clear reason to think that Miraj brought much of her personal style to the little girl.
Icarus: - Tova? What are you doing here? - He asked something doubtful.
Tova: - I wanted to play with my friends... But no one was there. I went to see them at their houses, but they were busy. They were all with their parents... Running away and laughing... -
Icarus remembered a strange conversation he had yesterday with Miraj and the other members of the Oasis council. Apparently they wanted to take a day off to do a little festivities. Something they called "Father's Day," or something like that. Icarus did not agree, but after the insistence of his subordinates he had no choice but to accept his proposal. As a droid, he saw no point in such a holiday, and he couldn't care less, but he never thought that such an event would have this unexpected result.
In fact, when she heard holiday, she automatically thought of a festival or something similar, not just a gathering at every home in the shelter. To him it was just an organic custom, so he didn't do much research on it. But now she had little Tova at her feet, with a somewhat sad and depressed face despite all the happiness that emanated from her clothing. Something very contradictory if I thought about it calmly.
While he didn't have a "physical" heart, the droid knew he had to do something about it.
Icarus: - And Stela? she asked suddenly, remembering that she didn't have a father either, quite cruel reasoning indeed.
Tova: - I can't find it anywhere. He's not at home either. -
Icarus: - Very good. - He said knowing he had no choice. - Take a walk. - Then, the little girl's face began to emanate a special light, although it was only metaphorical.
The strange duo began to walk through the streets of the Oasis in silence. It was a curious scene, where the droid walked while looking at all that had been achieved, and all that remained to be done. Instead, the little nelvaana only looked at the food stalls and culinary delights, and looked at the droid occasionally trying to make him notice just with his eyes, but the droid had no idea of his strange way of acting. Until:
The low sound took both the girl and the droid by surprise, who was unable to understand how the stomach of someone so small could produce such a growl.

Icarus: - Are you hungry? -
The question was rather silly, which made Icarus doubt his own intelligence, but seeing the little girl rushing towards one of the kiosks brought him out of his thoughts. It was a modest stall, about three square meters where there was a grill on which a juicy piece of meat rotated slowly while it cooked over a slow fire.
????: - Ah, but it's little Tova. As usual? -
The voice was that of a Sullustan, who was the cook and owner of the fast food stand. Toma looked at him with some joy, while he nodded with great joy. The Sullustan took a large kitchen knife and cut several pieces of meat, placed them on a skewer with various vegetables and offered them to the little girl. But when Tova reached for the food, the Sullustan jumped when he saw the huge super tactical droid standing behind the Nelvaana.
Sullustano: - Wh... Wh... Wh... Commander. What... What... What... are you doing here? - He said with a nervous voice when noticing his presence.
Icarus: - Tova? - He caught the attention of the little girl, who looked up full of joy with a piece of meat in her mouth. - You didn't pay for that? -
Tova: - Pay? - He asked while tilting his head, because he had never taught him such a thing.
Sullustano: - No... No... Don't worry, Commander. Everyone at the Oasis is forever grateful for your presence and all you have done for us. - He said something nervous.
Icarus: - No. That's not correct. - He said as he took out some credits. - How much does it cost? -
Sullustano: - No... I can't accept it from you... -
Ícaro: - Paying what is fair is the correct way to thank you for your work. That is something she must learn. -
The Sullustan had no choice but to back down, accepting the droid idea even though he really didn't want to.
Sullustano: - Two credits. - He said something embarrassed.
The droid took the required amount and gave it to Tova for her to pay for what she wanted to get. A somewhat strange act, but an important lesson for the little girl. And after the cook's thanks, they withdrew and sat on a bench until Tova finished her lunch.
Icarus: - How many times has that happened? -
Tova: - Whenever I ask them for something, they give it to me. -
Ícaro: - And you've never paid for it? -
Tova: - No. - He said as he lowered his head.
Icarus: - Very good. From now on I will give an allowance. You should use it well and without wasting. -
Tova: - What is an allowance? -
Icarus: - I'll explain it to you later. -
When the little girl finished enjoying her juicy lunch, she prepared to take Icarus to where he used to play with his friends, a place that the droid couldn't understand at first. It was an alley. Simply that. Nothing more and nothing less. Just a non-travelled street surrounded by some high walls and closed at the bottom.
He hadn't computed it since then, but with all the trouble and time spent preparing to face the Empire, neither he nor Miraj nor anyone in the vault could think about it.
Icarus: - Doom unit. I need you to come to my position. Bring about ten B1 units and these materials. - He said while showing himself through the holo-projector.
Doom: - Roger. Roger. -
Tova didn't know what was going on, and could only curiously stare at the strange metal structures that the B1 droids clumsily fabricated. They weren't houses, just tubes and metal sheets welded together. Something Tova had never seen in her life.
The little girl didn't know what all that was, and she had to follow the droid's instructions to be able to use each attraction.
The first thing was the channel or the slider. Twelve steps that made her climb higher and higher. Going up made her a little tired, but not enough to give up. But when he saw himself more than two meters above the ground, he panicked, and clung tightly to the metal railing with his small hands.
Tova: - Icarus... - He said with an intermittent voice, with an expression of panic clearly visible on his face.
The droid didn't hesitate to approach and stretch out his hand, which she accepted as she calmed down a bit. According to Icarus, she had to sit on the metal surface very carefully and she did so, very carefully and shaky for fear of falling.
Tova: - And now? - She said fearfully.
Icarus: - And now. You must let go. -
The little nelvaana hesitated to do so. Instead, she was holding the droid's hand tighter and tighter, afraid that he would leave her alone up there. And after several minutes of persuasion by the droid, Tova finally decided to venture out.
It all happened in less than two seconds. The little girl slid at a reasonable speed to the bottom of the ramp, stopping just short of finishing and falling to the ground. His face is in shock, while endless emotions bombarded his body.
Icarus: - Tova. Are you okay? - He asked worried, seeing a mixture of shock and fear on the little girl's face.
But what would happen next would take the droid by surprise, seeing how the little girl scrambled to her feet, euphoric joy painted on her face, only to climb once more up the stairs and launch herself again, this time. forgetting even his fear of heights.
Icarus couldn't understand what had happened, or the sudden change in Tova's attitude, but seeing her smiling was enough of a sign to indicate that everything was fine. And so they continued, trying all the improvised attractions one by one, until they reached a crossroads.
Tova was sitting on the swing, but it didn't move.
Icarus: - You must move your legs. Back and forth. -
Tova: - Like this? - He said as he moved his legs incorrectly, which caused the swing to shake only a little.
Icarus: - No. No. You must push your legs when you have completed the parabola and your gravitational energy is zero. So you will get acceleration and you can balance the forces. -
Still, the scientific explanation did not have the slightest result, and Tova could only try to move her legs to no avail. With no other choice, Icarus had to position himself behind the little girl and propel her with his hands. At first the nelvaana was doubtful, but little by little she began to enjoy it, as her body swayed back and forth.
The wind tossed her ponytailed hair and the ruffles on her dress. His blue fur moved contrary to his movement, and there was no room for a single drop of joy on his face, accompanied by a warm laugh of emotion that used to invade him occasionally.
The day continued very happy for the little girl, who did not remember having so much fun before in her life. The sun was dipping below the Gwori horizon, and the peculiar duo were standing on the great green pastures above. Icarus watched the Sun slowly descend in the panorama, while little Tova concentrated on a small wooden board, where she supported a piece of paper on which she drew happily.
Icarus: - What are you doing? -
Tova: - Something very special. - He answered with joy.
Since that day, not much has changed inside the Oasis. The droid used to spend time in his dimly lit room, painted in a dark color where the only thing was an armchair and a terminal. The only difference was a small metal frame resting on the terminal that showed a peculiar memory.
A drawing made by little Tova, which said just below:
"Happy Father's Day."
I'm sorry for this unforeseen event, but I liked the idea and why not do it on this day. A somewhat tender and strange story, but I think it will touch the hearts of some.
Happy Hather's Day.
