Epilogue - Droid Tales

¨Sometimes I find it hard to believe that eleven years have passed since then. Eleven years since I first opened my eyes. Not literally... But the first time I saw and felt that... it was me... And not just another of the crowd.

A lot has happened since then. I am aware that I was once someone I am not, but I also do not aspire to be... I am who I am and nothing can be changed.

I have gained a lot... But I have also lost many things. Many he admired. Some... because of this war, what was the purpose of my creation... Others, that I have left behind to continue on my path. And my duty.

Now, I find myself inside an Aurora class cruiser... One whose story is as curious as mine. My footsteps inside the metal hallways resonate with my acoustic sensors, as does the rumble of the fuselage as the ship travels through incomprehensible hyperspace.

My destiny? My commander's cabin.

- Your lady... We are about to arrive at Coruscant - I exclaimed as I knocked on the door with the delicacy that can characterize a droid of my type.

- I'm coming... I'm coming... Give me a few minutes. - Said my commander's voice from inside his cabin. - Wake up the others in the meantime. -

Carrying out his orders was my will and my reason for being. That's what I was created for, and that's what the great general had programmed me for. Just as the commander told me, I woke up the other two crew members.

They're all equally sleepy... I'm a droid, and I don't really need to sleep, although my recharge time is only a couple of hours... But I still believe that these organics that travel with me spend too much time sleeping. Will that be normal? Maybe I'll never know.

Of course, everything organic needs a good breakfast when you wake up, or else it will not perform as it should. A correct amount of protein, carbohydrates, minerals and fats. Things I know from the many programs that the commander installed in my memory... Luckily for her, since she is terrible at cooking. Then the first of them arrived.

This guy is pretty strange. Despite having lost everything in his life, he somehow manages to stay positive and is a good emotional support for the rest of the crew. Mr. Roy once fought against my kind during the Great Clone Wars, but now we have a respectful relationship. Although if it hadn't been for the commander she would have surely cut me in two with her lightsaber the moment she saw me.

Then Miss Zoe arrived. A rather reserved Kaminoan-human hybrid, who has had a hard time talking about her past. I never thought that she would carry a lightsaber like the commander's, but its peculiar red color doesn't make me feel very safe. He is very volatile, especially in the mornings when he wakes up. And finally.

- MMM... I love the smell of bacon in the morning. -

I still remember when I met her for the first time at the Gwori workshops. A little Nelvaanian girl who looked at me sadly for some reason. The great general told me about her past, and I knew that what I once was was very important to her. Since then, I have become his guard and protector... And I will continue to do so, until these metal plates that make up my body are able to move.

- ¿How much time do we have before we reach Coruscant, Titan? - She asked me now with a more mature voice, worthy of the great lady she has become.

- Half rotation... Commander Toba.-

-----------------------------------O-------------- ----------------------

Darkness... Pain... There are things that I can't fully understand, but I am able to feel... Maybe not the way the organics call it... But I... I feel similar. .. somehow.

I didn't know what was happening... I wasn't aware of time or space... I felt free in an infinite void... And at the same time... Prisoner of it.

There was nothing... Just me and nothing else... My calculations were going nowhere... As if I was rambling in a constant flow of data that I was not able to fully understand. Then... I heard a voice.

- It's working... It's working.-

I didn't remember hearing that voice in my life... In fact... Now that I computed it more clearly... I wasn't able to remember anything...

What had happened? Where was it? Whose voice was that? Who I am?

Suddenly, my optical sensors turned on again. It took at least five seconds to calibrate to the darkness of the place, but soon I could tell that I was in some kind of underground workshop. And right in front of me, looking at me with an excited face, a woman I didn't remember from anywhere.

- Magnificent... That purchase of scrap metal from those Kergans mercenaries was all lucky. - She mentioned while checking some things on the computers.

- Where I am? - I asked confused.

- Okay, you're quite a talker. It already seemed strange to me that all this programming was not according to your model. Someone did a great job. What is your manufacturing code? -

- Alpha - He responded involuntarily... But he didn't know why.

- Alpha...? That is not usually a common code. -

- No... My code is ND-5. I... I don't remember what Alpha means. -

-Well... It must be some code that was recorded in your reboot system... I had to change your database, since the other one had received three blaster shots... I think you won't be able to remember anything. -

- I see. - For some reason, that caused me a feeling similar to sadness... But I couldn't remember why.

So, I lowered my head, just to confirm what that woman had told me. I had a huge crack running through my chest plates and many of my components looked clearly new.

- Who are you? What do you want of me? - I asked her confused, as I watched her offer me a long olive green jacket.

- My name is Kay Vess... And you and I... My dear ND-5... We are going to be filthy rich -
