Chap. 26 - Popular Enemy
Icarus: - A frigate would undoubtedly be a great acquisition for our cause, but I'm afraid it won't be easy to face so many enemies. -
Wag Too: - Is there any chance that they are not enemies? -
Icarus: - I doubt it very much. In these circumstances, I don't think it's possible. -
Wag Too: - But... We don't even know who we're up against. -
Icarus paused for a moment, seriously considering the lurmen's proposal, but it was also too risky. Such a large armed group will certainly not be peaceful, but a direct confrontation would not be an easy task. If he really wanted to get a better opinion on how to trade, he had to go in person and feel out for himself.
Icarus: - Very good. Commando and droidek units. Prepare to go. We'll do reconnaissance on foot. Wag Too you will go with us. Doom unit, once we're on the ground, bring the ship into planet orbit and wait. We don't want unforeseen events while most are away. Vulture units will wait in the mountain system of sector 31 for orders. -
Doom: - But Commander, once the Kestrel Nova leaves the planet's atmosphere, our communications will be interrupted by pollution. -
Icarus: - That's right. In 72 hours, it will return to this position. If we haven't arrived yet... You'll leave without us. -
Some didn't agree with the plan, like Doom himself, but they didn't have many options either. The droids were about to leave the ship, when a small hand grabbed the super tactical droid from behind. Ícaro turned around and saw little Tova, somewhat scared by what was going to happen.
Tova: - Will you come back? Right? - She said with an almost opaque voice.
Icarus turned around and knelt in front of the girl, high enough so that their eyes and optical sensors could be at the same height.
Icarus: - We'll be back. Take it for granted. If the situation exceeds us, we will not hesitate to return. Even if we have to leave empty handed. -
Little Tova was able to cheer up a bit, waving her hand goodbye as the droids and lurmen descended the ramp of the Kestrel Nova.
Wag Too: - I see that you are improving. - He told Icarus something mocking.
Ícaro: - I still have a lot to learn. - He said as he managed to get a smile on the lurmen's face.
Tova: - Take care, Fifi. - She yelled from inside, to which the droidek responded with a series of happy beeps.
Wag Too: - Wow. It seems that she loves you more than me. - He said mockingly to the destroyer droid, to which it responded with a series of more "challenging" beeps.
Wag Too: - Ha. We'll see about that. -
Tova: - Will they be okay? - She asked to herself, while the landing ramp closed and the Kestrel Nova's engines prepared to leave the planet's atmosphere.
Titan: - Don't worry. Commander Icarus knows what he's doing. - He said with his hoarse voice, managing to calm the little girl down a bit. - You should use this time to continue your studies. -
Tova: - Party pooper. - She said after pouting.
Meanwhile, those on the ground watched as the Kestrel Nova cut through the dense curtain of pollution until it disappeared when visibility no longer allowed them to see the fire ejected by the ship's thrusters.
Once the ship's noise could no longer be heard, Icarus ordered the Vulture droids to the designated position and wait for further orders while the rest advanced on foot across the rocky floor of the planet. The small unit of six walked slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible, while they looked everywhere for possible unforeseen events. The commando droids were advancing about twenty meters ahead, doing reconnaissance before the rest got into place. However, the planet was so deserted that it would be impossible to think that someone could live in such a hostile place. And within a few hours, they managed to make out the silhouette of the Munificent in the distance.
Given the poor visibility, the group had to keep a safe distance to avoid being discovered by the "habitants", while Icarus once again analyzed the terrain map made by the Delta unit on the holoprojector.
Icarus: - Alpha and Delta. You will cross this corridor and position themselves in this sector. Droidek units will wait after this cover, not showing up until my order. Wag Too, get up on this plateau and lie down to attract as little attention as possible. Your rifle scope will give you a good visual even with all this pollution. -
Wag Too: - Don't worry about it. My rifle has a thermal sensor. -
Icarus: - Excellent. That tips the scales a bit in our favor. Vulture units, do you read me? - He said while speaking on an internal frequency. - Very good. Wait for orders. The rest, to your positions. -
Droids and Wag Too: - Roger. Roger. - The droids looked at the lurmen.
Wag Too: - What? -
Alpha: - It feels weird when you say it. -
Wag Too: - It was just a joke. -
Icarus: - Leave that for later. Go to your positions. -
Once everyone was in their positions, Icarus approached the side of the Munificent where the makeshift camp of the "habitants" was. Using the thick curtain of pollution and the few features of the rocky terrain, the droid advanced undetected to a safe distance from the camp. Right at the entrance, there were two prostrate figures, surely guards or something similar. Icarus couldn't define them with the naked eye, but after using the binoculars, he made an instant decision on how to proceed.
Icarus: - They are Pyke. - He said over the communicator.
Wag Too: -Pyke? From the union? I thought they were decimated when the Empire took over. -
Icarus: - It doesn't matter who has the power. Criminal groups are like cancer. Once they appear they always come back no matter how many times you try to remove them. -
Wag Too: - And what will we do? -
Icarus: - We will make their blood flow. To all units. Listen carefully. This is how we will proceed. - He told everyone through the communicator.
Unaware of the lurking death, the remnants of the Pyke Syndicate lay quietly within their comfortable tents. Only a few remained alert in the dead of night, watching for possible entrances or on occasional patrol. According to the information collected by Delta, at least fifty were waiting abroad, although it was unknown how many from them could be inside the frigate.
The Pykes were renowned throughout the galaxy, and were once one of the most powerful criminal syndicates, coming to rival the Hutt clan itself when the Clone Wars broke out and the illegal spice trade boomed. But once the Empire seized power, the Hutt clan, with the secret help of the Empire, destroyed the competition by reclaiming their position as top rulers of the underworld. Unknowingly, Icarus would face some of the last remnants of the Pyke Syndicate, and one of its last leaders.
[This is all my invention. Neither in the canon nor in legend is it explained what happened with the syndicates once the empire arrived. But considering that only the Hutt clan participates in the events of the original trilogy. I do not think that this It's a very crazy idea. That taking into account account the weakness of the Pyke in the Boba Fett series]
Those Pykes who were awake at this time of night did not expect what would happen next. For them, it was just another day in boring Gwori. When suddenly they heard a strange sound approaching at high speed. It was a sound that not many of them had listened. The sound made by Vulture fighters taking to the skies. And suddenly:

A strong noise shook the earth. And the powerful blinding light produced by a huge explosion rocked the top of the frigate Munificent. They were the Vulture fighters, who had launched a missile to destroy the frigate's communications tower to prevent the criminals from calling for reinforcements.
Pyke 1: - What is happening!? -
Pyke 2: - We are under attack! We are under attack! -
Pyke 3: - Look! The ship is on fire! -
Pyke 4: - Where are the enemies!? -
The criminals were shouting to the rooftops, trying to guess what was going on in the dead of night. Flames lit up the area terrifyingly as dozens of other Pykes poured out of the Munificent's interior to find out what happened. When:
Pyke 5: - Hey. Do you hear that? -
One of the Pykes asked his nearby companions, when they heard a strange metallic sound coming closer. It was dark, and they could not determine what it was or from where it came. When suddenly, an eerie blue dome of energy flashed before his eyes.

One of the droidekas began shooting at the disoriented Pyke without them even being able to react once their energy shield was deployed. In just two seconds, the mighty burst of red blasters killed more than twenty criminals. The rest, who barely managed to escape the constant fire, were able to hide behind the cover provided by the structures and containers of the camp.
The droideka managed to hold the Pyke at bay, but it was only a matter of time before more syndicate members joined the fray, firing dozens of blasters that dissipated into the droideka's shield. But this one was about to overload.
Icarus: - Paladin unit, Fifi unit. Change positions. -
The second turret rolled out of ground cover and used its fellow's shield to avoid enemy blasters. She rolled to a few meters in front before deploying her shield and beginning to fire as the other droideka ducked behind her partner's shield. By now at least sixty Pyke were in cover in the immediate vicinity concentrating their fire on the pair in front.
Icarus: - Vulture units. Now. -
From the dark night sky that terrifying sound could be heard once more. The few Pykes who stopped firing to try to spot the fighters approaching from above saw only a continuous barrage of heavy blasters and missiles falling over them. In the blink of an eye, dozens of Pyke lost their lives to the brutal attack coordinated by the chilling strategies of Icarus.
Alpha: - Commander. We are in position. -
Icarus: - Understood. Flank them and finish them all. -
Alfa: - Roger. Roger. -
The two commando droids traversed the burning field torn apart by the volley of Vulture droids. Flanked and stunned, the remaining Pykes were unable to put up any resistance as the droids commanded struck down them with an accurate shot.
The lethal droids began to enter the camp, taking down the different enemies that were still isolated or fleeing for their lives, supported by the sniper fire of Wag Too, who accurately shot each of the targets that appeared in his view.
And when the shooting stopped, more than eighty of Pyke's corpses lay on the ground. Escorted by the droideka, Icarus triumphantly entered the Pyke camp, breaking through the curtain of fire that rose from the ground after the Vulture's volley. The droids moved through the burning camp, toward the frigate Munificent's descent ramp, where the two commando units awaited their leader.
A few minutes later they were joined by the lurmen, who in all had killed more than fifteen targets without them being able to even notice their presence among all the confusion.
Icarus: - Vulture units, return to position and destroy any ships that try to escape the Munificent. The rest, follow me. Let's get this over with.
And the droids entered the interior of the Separatist frigate.
I see that many are reading this story and that makes me very happy. But don't be stingy and share your little stars. Ha ha ha. Nah, just kidding. I hope you like it a lot and remember: Give me any idea you can think of and I'll find a way to add it to this story without affecting the current canon plot. Hopefully someone from Disney will read this and they will make a series. Hahaha.
