Chap. 18 - Agamar

It was going to be a very long journey. Both Agamar and Nalvaana were outer rim planets and were located in different sectors of the galaxy. Icarus knew that they could not travel the planetary systems or the routes of the inner core or the middle core, since they had to be heavily guarded. So he had to plot a safe route around the Outer Rim, which would take the trip to a total of 26 hours. Adding to the fact that the Kestrel Nova was not a very fast model due to its age.

Icarus allowed the droid unit OOM to handle the final adjustments to the hyperspace trip while he and Wag Too did an inventory analysis of the things they had taken from the pirates. The droid and the lurmen were walking around the hold taking notes, while the B2 unit watched somewhat bored from a corner. Little Tova was in the medical bay, playing with a datapad, although Icarus ordered her to learn the common language, since if she wanted to go with them, she had to at least be able to understand most of the conversation in the galaxy. But what boy or girl of that age wants to spend hours in a boring study?

Wag Too: - Finally, these are the heavy ammunition. Two RPS-6 rocket launchers and fifteen shells. I think that's all. -

Icarus: - "Twelve E-5 rifles with enough ammunition for 145 hours of uninterrupted combat, two dozen boxes of thermal detonators and two RPS-6 with fifteen projectiles. Multiple spare parts and refractions." - He read from a datapad in his hand. - It's not much. But it will do for a while. - He hands the datapad to the lurmen.

Wag Too: - Do you have any idea to improve our situation? -

Icarus: - We must gather all the forces we can. The odds are high that Separatist remnants will be dissatisfied with the outcome of the Clone Wars. We must organize a force large enough to be able to face the Empire. -

Wag Too: - It doesn't seem like an easy task. -

Icarus: - It won't be. - The droid sentenced.

Several more minutes passed before the OOM droid entered the cargo bay.

OOM: - Commander. The flight path has been plotted. Estimated arrival time... 24 hours. -

Icarus: - Very well. Wag Too, prepare four E-5 rifles and supplies the B2 unit with enough ammunition for four hours of combat. -

OOM: - Do we expect enemies in Agamar? -

Icarus: - Uncertain. But I prefer to be prepared in the worst case. -

Wag Too: - What do you think we find there? -

Icarus: - I don't know. But it seems strange that a droid unit is opposed to an order from the Separatist command center. If it's a former commander, we can rally him to our cause. -

Wag Too: - That sounds good. -

Icarus: - OOM unit. From now on I will take control of the ship. -

OOM: - What should I do, Commander? -

Icarus: - Go to the medical bay and make sure that Tova complies with her study. -

OOM: - But... Commander... -

Icarus: - It's an order. -

OOM: - Roger. Roger. - The droid turned and reluctantly left. - Incredible. The great OOM-9, demoted from commander to nanny. -

They spent several relatively quiet hours inside the Kestrel Nova. Icarus spent his time going through the archives trying to discover a clue to what he could find in Agamar. He was looking for the record of an order given to a commander to carry out a mission on that planet, but he couldn't find anything. For a moment, he computed that it was a secret mission, or simply the order was erased from the records. He was trying to analyze the Separatist commanders who had not been reported dead, but in those five years after the fall of the Separatist Alliance, many things could have happened, so it would be impossible to determine the fate of each one with predictions alone.

Wag Too spent his time in the cargo hold, preparing the equipment that Icarus requested and practicing his mechanical skills. He was trying to make a makeshift core for the droideka out of the junk he had accumulated, but it was impossible. He could feel the B2 droid's gaze on him, giving him an odd feeling of anxiety. He knew he was a droid, and was simply following orders, but his presence was somewhat uncomfortable for the lurmen.

The OOM unit was in a "pitched battle" with little Tova. He did her best to follow Icarus's orders, but the girl was mischievous and slippery and could hide from the droid without much difficulty. What was supposed to be a study section turned into a half hour of "catch me if you can" game. Although after a while, things inside the ship seemed to calm down a bit, and both the girl and the droid locked themselves in the medical bay. It seems that he had finally managed to make her see reason. Nothing is further from reality.

When a few hours had passed, the OOM unit reported to the command post.

OOM: - Commander. I regret to report that the task assigned to me has been a failure. -

Icarus stopped checking a datapad and turned to look at the droid, but when he looked at it carefully, more than annoyed by the inability to accomplish his task, he felt a great curiosity.

Icarus: - What happened to your face? -

The elongated metallic head of the OOM unit was dotted with red blotches that stood out against its whitish hue with its yellow markings, as well as its mechanical limbs and body. It also had red paint marks in the shape of little hands all over it. Without a doubt, the girl was responsible. -

OOM: - I subdued the Naboo forces and captured their capital. I led my troops against the Gungans and we would have won if not for the Jedi. But I am not able to control Commander Tova. - He said something crestfallen.

Icarus wanted to suppress it, but he couldn't convince the mischievous girl either, so he just let it go. At that Wag Too called him on the ship's communicator.

Wag Too: - Hey Icarus. Come to the cellar for a moment. You have to come see this. - He said between laughs.

The droid rose from his seat and headed for the ship's cargo hold followed by the OOM unit. When he arrived, he looked in shock at the B2 unit with the same paint smears and hand marks as the OOM unit, and the lurmen was vigorously scrubbing little Tova's face with an alcohol wipe to remove the red pigment stains that she had all over her face and clothes.

Icarus: - Culd I know wha you doing!? - He asked something angrily of the girl.

Tova: - Ugly color robot. Prettiest red. - She said awkwardly in the common language.

Icarus: - Did you just speak the common language? -

Tova: - Yes. Tova very smart. - She said with joy although the lurmen continued to remove the red spots from her face.

Icarus turned and looked at the OOM unit doubtfully, however, the droid behind him could only shrug, as confused as he was.

Icarus: - Can you clean up all this mess? - He asked to Wag Too.

Tova: - No disaster! So better! - She said something annoying. -

Wag Too: - It's pulp from the choke fruit. I don't think it's possible. -

Icarus: - I don't know that fruit. -

Wag Too: - It was in the supplies. It's kind of sticky and it comes off with alcohol, but not from metal. I don't know how it works, but once the pulp falls on the metal it can't be removed. -

Icarus raised his head, as if imitating the gesture of someone taking a deep breath to calm down, and without saying a word, he turned around and returned to the ship's control room, leaving the two droids, the girl, and the lurmen behind.

Wag Too: - Hey, Tova. I have an idea. Do you want to hear it? - He said in a low voice, to which the girl nodded her head. - This is what we are going to do. - The lurmen began to whisper in her ear while the droids tried to listen to what bad idea that pair was planning.

Time passed until the Kestrel Nova finally came out of hyperspace. Through the cockpit windows it could seen the vast oceans of the planet with its fertile green lands. After all, Agamar was an agricultural planet.

Icarus: - Is there any sign of an imperial fleet? -

Droid B1: - Negative, Commander. The planet does not appear to have any kind of fleet or defense system. -

Icarus: - Good news. Run a scanner over the surface and find any traces of Separatist activity. -

On a screen the surface of Agamar was shown, while waves of green color ran through every corner of the planet. Then a yellow dot flickered in the north polar zone of the planet.

Droid B1: - Sir, we have detected a trace of the signature of a Separatist ship. Code 44683-G. It seems that it is on the surface of the planet. -

Icarus: - I have no records of that ship. It's strange. - Icarus made a brief pause. - Very good. Head into the area and keep a safe distance from the target. -

Droide B1: - Roger. Roger. -

The Kestrel Nova entered Agamar's atmosphere and slowly descended toward the indicated area, and as a cumulus of white clouds passed, an impressive DH-Omni support ship stranded on the planet's surface was visible.

The support ship DH-Omni was completely inoperable. Perhaps it was shot down after the shutdown order was given, and it was even very likely that throughout all these years, its remains had been looted by pirates and scrap dealers, but it was worth seeing if there was still anything of value in its inside. Even so, Icarus did not rule out the idea that the remains of the Omni had become another pirate or smuggler's lair, and although the scanners did not show any type of activity, it was better not to take risks.

Icarus: - Land in a safe area. -

Droid B1: - Understand. -

The Kestrel Nova slowly descended to land on the rocky surface of the area, a safe distance from the Omni ship.

Icarus: - Shut down the engines and go to the cargo hold. Take the E-5 blasters and await my order. -

Droides B1: - Roger. Roger. -

Icarus: - OOM andB2 units, and Wag Too, prepare your weapons and proceed to the control room. - He said over the ship's speakers.

The three B1 droids headed for the cargo hold, and before long, the rest of the crew reported to the cockpit. Although there was something very different.

OOM: - Commander. Ready to serve. - He said as they introduced themselves with their new reddish patterns.

Wag Too: - Well. What do you think? -

Icarus really computed that the new colors were a complete waste of time. From their "logical" point of view, they had no tactical advantage. Opinion that both the OOM and B2 units shared, but as Tova and Wag Too were their superiors, they could not deny.

Icarus: - They look good. - He said dryly, looking at the girl's eyes full of illusion and her small hands full of red coloring.

Wag Too: - Well... What's the plan? - He said trying to hide the droid's lack of tact.

Icarus: - I'll go with the B1 units to investigate. I want you to stay here. OOM unit, if something happens, power up the ship and get it out of the system as soon as possible. -

OOM: - Understood. -

Tova: - Wait. You go alone? -

Icarus: - It is the most logical option. In case it's a trap, I don't want you guys to find yourself in the same situation. -

Those present disagreed with the decision, despite knowing that the droid was right. The B1 units returned with their blasters, and the ramp opened to the outside. The weather was cold, but not as cold as in Nelvaana. Icarus descended the ramp followed by his small escort of three B1 units, while the rest watched in concern.

B2: - Commander. - It called with its hoarse voice. - What is my mission? - It asked with some doubt.

Icarus turned around for a moment, staring at the B2 droid with his two vision sensors still working.

Icarus: - You must protect them... at all costs. -

The B2 droid looked at the girl and the lurmen for a few seconds, then even turned to the OOM unit. Finally, he looked back at his commander.

B2: - Roger. Roger. - It said before the Kestrel Nova ramp closed once more.
