Chap. 102 - Shattered

Icarus: - Start the engines. - He exclaimed as he stood up.

Zeb: - HEY! WAIT! -

Foxley: - ¡ÍCARO! AT THE! -

No one present could do anything to stop him. The tactical super droids charged at Darth Vader once again, now, without the support of the magnaguard droids. The lightsabers collided forcefully, while the blasters flew dangerous meters away from both of them.

Zeb and the commando droids did their best to keep the stormtroopers at bay, who under Katalina's command were slowly gaining ground. There were only three commando droids left, and they were not enough to hold the position.

The former separatist knew her opponents very well, having had them under her own command in the past. He knew their strengths and weaknesses, and hunting down the commando droids wasn't particularly difficult for him. Although dealing with the warrior Lasat behind his back was quite a problem. However, everything fell silent when the Sith Lord's angry scream saturated the entire room.

The dozens of gazes watched in shock as the cyborg's body exploded into sparks. Electrical currents ran through his body, violently generated by his own metal parts and life supports. Darth Vader was unable to stand, and his knees fell to the ground in a painful attempt to stay upright.

Vader: - WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME!? -He screamed angrily at the pain that coursed through his body.

Icarus: - There is no machine that is capable of resisting me. I have hacked your body's electronic systems and now they respond to my will... YOU... CAN'T BEAT ME. -

Vader's suit emitted worrying beeps, coming from the life support that kept him alive. Once again, the metal chains embedded in the Sith Lord's body were his nightmare.

Icarus was the definitive Artificial Intelligence. Accessing the electronic components of this black entity and hacking them turned out to be a fairly simple task. Too much... As if such simplicity had been manufactured on purpose. Now, the droid had control of the Sith's joints, as well as the life support that kept him alive.

Vader was suffering, and his cries of agony were all he needed to hear. Screams that terrified both organics and droids present, at the suffering and anger that escaped from their being. Icarus saw it... And wanted to end his suffering.

The droid's skysaber rose above Vader's head. Everyone looked on, stunned, unable to do anything about such a scene. Not even Katalina herself could react in time, and by the time she tried to raise her pistol towards the tactical super droid, it was already lowering its lightsaber towards its opponent... This was already over... Or so Icarus thought.

Centimeters before the deadly beam of light touched the metal of his helmet, the Sith Lord unleashed his anger, and from his own body emanated a sling of Force that destroyed everything around him.

Both droids and organics flew in all directions, along with every object present around the Sith Lord. One of the commando droids hit a container behind him so hard that the force itself destroyed it into pieces. The other droids barely managed to stay in one piece, even as parts of their bodies were affected. Like Delta itself, who lost one of its optical sensors after the impact.

The closest stormtroopers were also unlucky. The materials scattered around the place flew in all directions, and their armor was not able to withstand the sharp objects, or the force with which the larger boxes crushed them. Katalina herself flew four meters before hitting the metal wall behind her, and it didn't take long for her own blood to fall on her forehead and cover her right eye.

Icarus had the same luck. Al is right in the epicenter of the Force explosion, his metal body crossed the air until he collided with the metal several meters away. Such a blow would not affect his body, especially when he tried to minimize the damage by curling up into a ball during the journey. But, now that he was able to look up, both he and those who were still able to remain conscious, saw with terror what his eyes revealed to him.

Demonstrating his exceptional use of the Force, Darth Vader levitated in the air like a ghost from the past. A ghost black as the abyss and as powerful as the Force itself. His onyx cape waved vigorously in the non-existent wind, unable to move his own joints due to the hacking that Icarus did on his robotic body... But he didn't need it.

Now, the Sith Lord towered over everything. His crimson aura pulsed in time with the red color that the visor of his helmet revealed in front of his eyes. His body, floating one meter above the ground, inert. Looking like a living dead man, and he probably was. All while his crimson saber danced around him. Free from ties.

Without warning, the scarlet lightsaber lunged at its victim, with no hand to control its headlong lunge. Icarus was barely able to dodge it, as he did the impossible before standing up. But, as if he had his own will, the Sith's lightsaber did not stop attacking him again and again. Ready to end his miserable existence once and for all.

There was no doubt. That ghostly shadow in black was using the force somehow. Up until this point, the droid had only witnessed Force users practicing their use, but there was always some gesture involved. A hand that extended or retracted... However, this dark entity seemed to be able to use it without the need for such banalities... Only with its rage and willpower.

Icarus knew there would be no end to this. The crimson saber was as fast as a blaster, and its movements, although predictable, were very difficult to dodge or block in the face of the impossible speed. He had to finish the body, or this would never end. One slight mistake and that would be it.

The droid approached slowly. His attention was focused almost entirely on the infernal saber that danced around him, even with the objects that the force user himself threw at him. Icarus's body suffered considerable damage, but he had to continue forward. And then, the time came.

The droid was just a meter away from the cyborg. Their glances exchanged. One serene and immovable, another defiant and angry. Somehow, he had managed to close the distance to the Sith Lord, and now he just had to deliver the final blow.

Icarus's hands went up. I wouldn't miss an opportunity like this again. His lightsaber remained firm, despite the objects that flew at high speed, driven by the will of the Sith and affecting his metallic body. It was now... or never.

The burning power of the lightsaber cut through the metal furiously and without hesitation. Sparks from the cut splashed in all directions, while those who saw everything were paralyzed by the scene. Incredulous of what their eyes were showing them. But it was not Icarus's saber that cut his opponent.

In the blink of an eye, the Sith's scarlet saber cut through the void, its deadly blade severing the droid's wrists before it could even lower its weapon. A mistake that he was not able to foresee or avoid.

Now, in front of his otic sensors, Icarus saw how his own hands and the saber fell from above his head, crossing the space between his shocked body and the dark ghostly appearance of the evil being. Icarus was... helpless.

Without warning, the droid's metallic body lost its grip on the ground. A brutal push of the Force by the Sith Lord sent him flying for more than twenty meters, crashing hard against a metal container, in the vicinity of the Phantom... Icarus had... Lost.

Delta: - DEFEND THE GENERAL! -

Able to react before any organic, Delta and the rest of the commando droids launched themselves against the Sith Lord, whose levitating silhouette did not stop emanating that scarlet and terrifying aura. The organics present were unable to move due to the fear that this being emanated, and only the droids were able to ignore this effect as they lacked fear.

However, Zeb was able to react to the commando droid's voice.

The lasat launched himself into a race, and using his great strength he carried the dying body of Icarus and carried him inside the Ghost. He didn't know what was happening, but for some reason, Icarus seemed to move erratically... As if such a blow had affected his system in some way. But they didn't have time to think at that precise moment.

Foxley: - ¡DELTA! -

Delta: - LEAVE! NOW! -

No one present would contradict his words. The clone ran into the ship, and together with Hera began to press the buttons to take off. They knew that Delta and those two droids wouldn't distract that black monstrosity for long, so they had to hurry if they wanted to have even the slightest chance of escaping. However...

Katalina: - OPEN FIRE! DON'T LET THEM ESCAPE! -

At the shout of the major general, the few stormtroopers who were still able to stand began to fire at the fuselage of the ship. Its thick metal shell would pose no threat to the Ghost, but they couldn't wait any longer.

Foxley pulled the stick to try to take flight, but the craft was unable to take off. The nose rose violently, while the roar produced by the rubbing of metal against metal could be felt on the back.

Foxley: - Shit! The elevator is stuck! That load is too heavy! -

Hera: - What should I do!? -

Foxley: - You stay here! Zeb, with me! -

Zeb: - I'm coming! -

The lasat set Icarus' body aside as gently as he could, and ran alongside the clone toward the back of the ship. The cargo hold was open, and Imperial blasters were entering dangerously inside.

Foxley: - There's no time! We must break those bolts! -

Zeb: - I'll take care of it. -

Both clone and lasat began to hit the metal with all their strength. It was better to lose the cargo elevator than the entire ship, so they would throw everything overboard. The metal was slowly becoming thirsty, but time was against it.

Hera: - How can I help!? -

The young Twi'lek's voice was present in the warehouse, and both Lasat and clone looked back with concern.

Foxley: - Hera! Come back inside now my...! -

Hera: - NOOOOO! -

A heartbreaking scream emanated from within the young woman, as she watched sadly as the clone collapsed on her feet. A blaster shot pierced the void and hit his back. A blow... Deadly.

Despite the danger, the young Twi'lek ran, ignoring the dozens of blasters that were stinging dangerously close to her. Zeb was yelling for her to hide while continuing to shoot at the cargo elevator bolts, but she just wasn't listening.

Hera grabbed Foxley by his armor, who still had a sliver of life left, as he complained about the pain he felt as the Twi'lek dragged him behind a container.

Here: - ¡FOXLEY! ¡FOXLEY! No no no no no... -

Foxley: - Li... Little brat... -

He said with his voice broken by the cough that such an injury caused him, although his face, more than pain or sadness, did its best to show one last smile to the young Twi'ler who was carrying his head and looking at him with crystalline eyes.

Hera: - Wait... Don't try hard... I... I... -

Foxley: - Hera... -

The Twi'lek's voice was interrupted, when a last act of will allowed the clone to raise his hand to rest it on the young woman's shoulder.

Foxley: - Take... Take care of the Ghost... for me. -

And then... His hand fell against the metal floor... Lifeless.
