A Killer- Spock
*Did you really think I was gonna open up a new book and not already have a story for you??? I mean what can I say, it's my birthday(!!!!!), so here's my treat to you*
"Spock, please...," you didn't know what else to say as you watched the visibly angry Vulcan do his best to compose himself.
"He is a weapon. A killer." Spock turned around, his eyes dark as they landed on you before slowly traveling to the locked prisoner behind you. "Do not forget it. You can use a spear as a walking stick, but that will not change its nature."
He left quickly, his foot falls hardly making a sound and yet you ears couldn't stop ringing.
Shame, guilt, and fear fought for dominance as you tried to regain what dignity and composure you had left. To be scolded by you commanding officer was one thing, but in front of a prisoner you had once been romantically engaged to, was another thing, entirely.
Khan had been part of the crew for three years. You were all friends. Well, except for Spock. He had been right about Khan since day one, seeing through his lies, but you were all too caught up in the mission and the rush to save a whole civilization to stop and think that you were all being deceived. He was so convincing. So caring at times that it would seem unjust in all forms of the Prime Directive for Khan to be anything less than the changed man he was...for the doting and gentle fiancé he seemed to be.
Bones and Kirk rushed in, their voices bouncing off the bright walls, Khan's sedated body laying in the confinement chamber, undisturbed by the sudden shouting.
"Y/n!"
"Damn it woman, you need to stop running away like that." Bones lifted a vitals monitor, it beeping as he waved it around you head and arms. "You'll end up falling for another loser and get the other half of your brain cell knocked out of ya."
You rolled your eyes as Kirk snickered, but he quickly sobered as soon as he saw your face.
"Come on bones, cut her some slack. We all learned we made a friendship boo boo at the same time."
"Oh yeah?" Bones snapped the small monitor shut and thumbed at their unconscious audience. "At least we weren't the one sleeping with it."
Your eyes bugged. "Well at least I wasn't all gaga eyes when he would come into the Medbay, trailing after him like a love sick puppy, BEGGING for him to teach me advanced medical practices."
"You little-," Bones huffed, pointing a finger at your nose, "I was trying to save the lives of our crew. Our friends!"
"And that's wonderful and all but my heart was also broken Leonard." Your voice wavered.
"Maybe you deserved it this time, y/n."
"Hey now, Bones," Kirk stepped forward, almost as if he were shielding you from the fuming doctor, "she's your sister. If anything she's probably hurt more than the rest of us."
You shook your head as you gathered what was left of your uniform jacket up off the ground, the image of Khan choking you as your hands ripped at your clothes so you could breathe, your eyes clouded with frustration. You gave Kirk a tight smile and refused to look at your brother as you left the room.
"And for the record, I haven't slept with anyone. Ever."

Spock~
Spock paced his room after having gotten ready to retire, his mind racing as he tried to think of more ways to keep Khan subdued. The heavy dose tranquilizer was wearing off too fast too frequently. Spock could only suspect the mutant was conditioning himself in secret whilst being permitted to the supplies of the ship. Oh how he wished he could turn back time and stop this all from happening to them.
To y/n.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Spock left his sleeping quarters, his eyes glued to the small monitor PADD in his hand as he let his legs take him to the farthest observation deck. They will be docking soon so he will need to be up regardless.
Spock didn't make it two turns from his room before bumping into someone, his hands grasping the PADD close. But he didn't lower it right away, afraid to take his eyes off the prisoner getting his fourth sedation injection of the hour.
"My apologies, I was otherwise preoccupied- y/n?"
There stood the younger McCoy, still in your uniform but your hair was pulled back off your face. You looked tired but far from wanting to sleep.
"Oh hi Spock." Her voice was barely audible.
"Lieutenant, I can't help but assume this encounter was not an accident."
Your (e/c) eyes glanced at the PADD in his hand and didn't move as you spoke. "Sort of. I was coming to see you. But in your room, not the hall."
Spock understood quickly.
Without a second thought, he placed his free hand on the small of your back, pushing you gently in the direction of his room, your movements ghost-like.
"I would appreciate the company."
Once in his room, Spock set the PADD down on a projector, making sure it faced away from his lounge chairs where you curled into a ball. He placed a thin blanket over your legs as he made his way to his small dry bar.
"Drink?"
You shook your head.
Spock poured a small glass of water and placed it on a side table closest to him knowing you will want it later. He sat across from you, his forehead pinching in concern.
"Would you like to tell me why it is you wished to see me at this hour or would you like me to guess?"
You didn't smile like you would when he teased you about not being able to read your mind. Your eyes seemed lost, your mind clearly elsewhere.
"I knew Spock."
Spock's body stilled as a chill reached from the tip of his ears to the ends of his toes. Sitting up straighter, he couldn't help but glance at the PADD on the projector before picking apart every detail of your body language.
"When?"
"Five months ago."
The Vulcan winced.
You closed your eyes as you spoke, a hair falling across your cheek, "He was late to one of our wedding planning dates. I went to go find him. I heard him talking to someone, or to himself, about everything that happened yesterday." You opened your eyes and looked at him with the most heartbroken and disparaging looks Spock had ever seen from a human.
"I knew it was going to happen and yet there was nothing I could do to stop it."
In two steps Spock was next to you, but he kept a bit of distance between. Just in case.
"Why did you keep this to yourself?" Spock hoped he didn't come off accusatory but he was far too concerned with this sudden information to bother checking himself, he figured an apology afterwards would suffice.
"I was scared. And I even spoke to him, tested him to see if he really was about to cross us. But he had a perfect cover up, like he always did apparently." You sat up, tucking your fallen hair back behind your ear, your eyes still avoiding his. "But we never spoke of wedding things since. As if he knew I was onto him. But he still treated me the same. He still held me close and kissed me...told me he loved me," your voice drifted off.
Spock gently placed a hand on your arm but you didn't look his way. "I cannot begin to imagine the insurmountable pain you are in right now but logically you have had time to process what you heard those five months ago. I need you to tell them to me as clearly as you remember."
Without saying a word you pulled out a wrinkled piece of paper from your pocket and let it fall into his lap as you stood up to take the glass of water off the side table where Spock had left it.
Carefully, Spock pulled the paper open to find your uncharacteristically messy handwriting had scrawled what he assumed were Khan's words. Quickly, he read them and as he did, his human emotions nearly got the best of him. You had known this for five months and yet did nothing. He supposed he and everyone else would have a right to be upset with you, but your resolve to not say anything must have been warranted by some great threat. You were holding more back.
Sure enough, the end of the paper stopped abruptly, the edge ragged like it was torn.
"Where is the rest of it?"
You shrugged. "I wish I knew."
"Do you remember what it said?"
"No."
I was having a hard time keeping his frustration from bubbling over into personal contempment. "You must know something more."
Turning, your eyes now shimmered with unshed tears, you walked to the wall where the PADD was projecting Khan's yet again stirring form.
"I tried to poison him. Slowly. I was three months in when my brother started to notice something was off. I was too late in telling him to not help Khan find a cure to his sudden illness. By the time I had made it to the Medbay Khan was as good as new and Leonard was all smiles." You reached out for the projection but you stopped, your arm dropping limply to your side. "The next day I "slipped in an exhaust leak" in the engine room whilst working with Scotty."
Not wanting to spook you, Spock slowly walked up to you, his eyes flickering to your arm where your brother had to treat you for a broken shoulder. Spock's heart ached as he stood but a breath from you, your gaze never leaving the projection.
"Y/n..." Spock whispered, hesitating to reach out to you.
You turned, taking in a shaking breath as you buried your head in his chest, your arms wrapping around his slim middle as soft sobs echoed in the room. Instinctively, Spock enveloped you in his arms, resting his cheek on the top of your head. He would have stayed like that for as long as you needed, as long as you wanted. He closed his eyes as your shaking cries grew and he could feel your tears soak his shirt.
After a few moments you pulled back but only enough for you to move your head to the side so he could hear you speak.
"He has people he will be meeting at this Starfleet spaceport. They are just like him. I know what they will look like." You lifted your head slightly, your waterlogged eyes locking with his gentle ones. "I think I know how we can stop him and still keep to the Prime directive. But you'll need to trust me."
Spock looked down at you, his hand reaching up to wipe away at the tears that slowly slid down your reddened damp cheeks.
"I will follow your orders down to the very letter Lieutenant."
No sooner had the words left his mouth, there was a large bag and the cabin room shook. You both turned to look at what remains of the Medbay where Khan was being held. Doctors and nurses rushed about, security calling for backup as they helped their injured crewmates onto the remaining working Medbeds. Bones was there, yelling orders as he lifted someone onto his shoulder.
"Spock," you turned to him and he held his breath, your eyes no longer held sorrow and pain but determination and anger, "Where did you say you left that special weapon we took from the Rasathash mission?"
Spock blinked. "I left it under Commander Sulu's care."
"We're gonna need it," you grabbed his hand and placed his phaser into it, "and this."
Before Spock could ask any more questions, the ship shook again and y/n rushed out of his room and into the hall in the direction of Sulu's room. He tilted his head slightly before rushing after you, glad you were yourself again but worried for what that will divulge later on.
And there you have it! One down 99 more left to go or something like that haha
