With Bated Breath - Spock (part two)
Spock searched everywhere, but could not find you. He was having trouble calming his racing heart and the growing storm did not help. Losing all cares about public appearances, he found himself running through the halls of the Delegation building. Tears of his own threatened to fall as he practically tore the place apart. It was growing late when he saw hope.
Kirk was sitting at a table drinking Vulcan fruit juice, watching the storm tear through the New Vulcan city. Coming up behind him, Spock took a moment to calm his breathing and lose the moisture building in his eyes.
"You know Spock, when trying to scare someone, it's best not to sniffle like a weeping kid." Kirk turned with a sad but sure smirk on his lips. Motioning to the seat across from him, he poured Spock a drink of the strong liquid as well.
"Forgive me, Jim. It just seems that I have lost someone dear to me."
Kirk nodded and took another swig. "(Y/n). Yup, she was a right true mess. Told me everything."
A green tint flashed over Spock's face as he took a drink from his own glass. "Yes, well it seems I have upset her and I wish to find her and apologize."
"Well, you might want to do that quickly. She said something about leaving and joining Starfleet to become an ambassador or something. Anything to get away from what reminds her of you."
"That is quite helpful and reassuring Jim. I would ask you get lessons on bed-side manners from Doctor McCoy. He seems to grasp the skill to calm those he talks to." Spock took another drink.
"Look. All I know is that you are going to have to hurry. She left here not five minutes ago."
Spock's breath caught. He placed his glass down gently in fear of breaking it in his grasp. Gone? Now? Were?
"Did you happen to see in which direction she went off to? I hope you did not encourage her to leave so suddenly."
"I may be rash sometimes but I'm not stupid." He lifts his glass filled hand and pointed to a doorway leading out to the rain. "Somewhere in that direction. I think. All I know is, is that she said she needed to get home and meditate peacefully."
Spock rushed to stand up quickly, almost tipping his chair over backwards. "I would hope that you stopped her from going in the rain."
Jim shrugged as he took another sip of his drink, looking over the edge of his glass at his perturbed friend.
With a deep growl, Spock looked over at the rain and back at his somewhat helpful captain. "Pray that you are not here if I return empty handed." And with that, Spock took a fortifying breath and dove into the heavy down pour of rain and thunder riddled sky in hopes of finding you unharmed and welcome to his assistance.
Kirk watched as Spock ran head first into the rain. "You know for a Vulcan he doesn't use logic that much." He chuckled to himself and then stood up slowly. Now it's time to go get a towel for his soaked Vulcan friend.

No amount of shielding could stop the rain from pelting every spot on his body. Spock did his best to wade through the rain clogged streets to find your home, but it was getting harder to see the harder it rained.
"(Y/N)!"
His voice sounded muffled, even to himself.
"(Y/N)!"
Nothing shouted back but the wind and it's incessant howling. Spock turned around and looked back at the Delegate building. He was still close enough to see lights but too far to see Jim at the table. Turning back around, Spock gave another sweep of his current area before he moved on. Your house was just a bit off to the east of the Delegate building when he had helped relocate the remaining Vulcan survivors. Is it not just here? He reached his hand out but did not touch a building. Thunder shook his body as he gave one last final attempt at checking the area around him. He should go back now, while he can still see.
How could he have been so illogical? He knew deep down that he did not see you and their relationship, or whatever is now left of it, as a task or some means to an end. If it was not for you he would not have been able to see you so soon. Spock mentally kicked himself for not putting your feelings before his own unchecked opinion. He would never be able to explore a romantic relationship with you now.
Slowly and with a surprising about of pain, Spock made his way back to the Delegate building, the only place with lights still visible in the storm. A faint sound floated over the air. Spock froze and strained his sensitive ears in hopes of catching the sound again.
A light but strong voice shouted his name. There it was again. He followed the sound until he could start making out the silhouettes of people in the light of the building. With new found energy Spock rushed forward, daring his heart to hope that was your voice he was hearing. That you were not in the rain but dry and safe under the building's canopy.

"Jim, did it ever occur to you that he is not even half Vulcan?" You stood on the edge of the canopied walkway of the Delegation building, nervously fiddling with the thick, heavy towel in your arms as you periodically called out to Spock.
"It has crossed my mind from time to time. But I think this seals the deal." Kirk chuckled.
You shook your head as you continued to search the thick rain for any sign of your tall Vulcan oaf. A shadow of a body and the slight movement in the light spilling from the building caught your eye. You raised your arm and waved, calling for him to come closer.
"Spock you oaf get out of the rain!"
Your heart skipped a beat as you stepped back and watched as his body broke through the wall of rain and into the light. The way his clothes clung to his body and his hair fell into his face made a green blush creep over your cheeks and warm your ears. You would have stared longer if it weren't for how violently he started to shake. Quickly you rushed forward and wrapped him as best as your small frame could allow and took him by his arm to usher him into your home within walking distance under the canapoy.
You looked up at him and gave the back of his head a good swat. "That is for your illogical escapade into the rain." You opened your front door and gently brought him inside.
"Kirk said you had left."
"Kirk is half drunk most the time and has always messed with your emotions."
Spock's mouth lifted slightly at that, but he soon coughed reminding you of the situation at hand.
"Go get dressed. I have a few of your civilian clothing in my guest room. I will draw up a warm drink so we don't send you into shock."
"I thought you lived farther away." Spock made little movement to go change.
You place your hands on your hips and granted him one reply before shooing him off to the guest room. "I moved closer for your father's sake. I was needed more often and I hated that he had to walk so far. This is where I was when you went hunting for ghosts in the rain."
Spock opened his mouth to protest his true reason for being out there, but you had shoved him into the room. He was surprised to see his clothing from the relocation process still folded and in your home.
You got to work on a warm drink and setting a fire to warm the house. Spock soon exited the guest room and you found yourself staring again. Is there nothing this man can wear that does not look good on him? Your staring was cut short by bubbling liquid and Spock's chattering teeth.
"Come on now. Sit on the couch in front of the fire. I'll bring you a blanket and your drink." He did just that as you went to fetch them.
"(Y/n), please forgive me, I do not believe I-" Spock was cut off by you shoving the warm cup of sweet liquid in his hands as you got busy tucking the wool blanket around him.
"Hush now. You need to rest and warm up. I would hate for you to get sick." You stood in front of him, your hands on your hips like a scolding mother.
"But Vulcan's cannot catch common colds or hypothermia."
You toss your hands in the air and roll your eyes. "Honesty Spock, you are half human, you could get the flu for all we know. Why do I even try anymore?" You turn to leave but was stopped by a hand on your arm.
You turn and see Spock look up at you with pleading eyes. "Stay. I will stay quiet if that will persuade you."
You let out a sigh and nod. Spock placed his cup on a side table and used both hands to pull you gently closer. You willingly fell softly next to him, allowing him to share his blanket with you. He tentatively wrapped an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer. Your smell filled his senses, making his heart quicken. You closed your eyes as you rested your head on his shoulder, threading your fingers with his other hand on his lap. The both of you let out a breath as one felt the other relax considerably. Spock looked down at you and placed a chaste kiss on the top of your head.
You sigh. "Spock, promise me you will at least give us a try?" Your voice was quiet but hopeful.
Spock let one corner of his mouth pull upward. "With every breath I breathe, I will make sure you know you are loved."
Dude, so how about that!? Man that was fun. Couple more to come before the surgery. You are all awesome my lovelies!
