Report To Engineering- Scotty

You stood at attention as you watched the Senior Officers of the Enterprise beam onto the transporter pads before you. You checked the red shirts to spot their Cheif Engineer, your blood boiling a bit at the thought of another CE looking at and possibly tinkering with your precious mechanical child.

You spotted two red shirts but only one of them stood out to you as the Enterprise crew followed your captain out of the transporter room. You could hear his Scotish accent echo off the walls. His shoulders were broad and despite his residing hairline, you found him to have a kind face and his features easy on the eyes.

You were pulled out of your not so subtle observance when you heard your name called by your Captain Richards.

"Gentleman, this is my Cheif Engineer and my niece, (Y/n)."

You nodded to the crew of men, the small smile on the Scotsman's face not passing your notice.

"Mr. Scott, if I understand correctly you are the CE of the Enterprise." Your uncle addressed the older red shirt.

"Aye, sir."

"Treat her well as she shows you the upgraded core and fuel lines. I will show the rest of you your respected areas. It truly is a pleasure being the first to show you the new upgrades."

Captain Richards gave your arm a kind squeeze like he normally did before he left with the remainder of the crew. You turned to Mr. Scott to find him already looking at you, that dumb smile still plastered to his face. You let out a little snort, a small smile pulling at your lips.

"Come on. I have a feeling you will find this a lot more interesting."

He fell into step next to you, his eyes taking in the elaborate new ship interior as you lead the way. "I find that hard to believe, lassie. How does she run?"

Your face lit up at not only his implied compliment and but at the mention of the ship engine herself. You practically skipped down the hall. "Beautifully! I used to be jealous of the Enterprise and the power under her hood. But the Majesty, though small, could never be topped now that she has been fitted with the newest upgrades Starfleet issued while the Enterprise was saving lives, as per usual."

Scotty let out a deep laugh, his smile lighting up the hallway a bit more. "It is a wee bit addicting to throw caution to the wind."

You let out a giggle. "I know the feeling." You opened your arms to the engine room, your smile so wide you were sure it was stuck like that. "Here she is."

Scotty stood in awe at the pure magnificence. "How do you ever find the energy to pull yourself away from her?"

You turned to him grabbing his arm excitedly. "With great difficulty. At one point my Uncle had to have me sedated and brought out. Come on, you are going to love the new particle articulation accelerator!"

Scotty smiled as he let you lead him all over the new engine room. He had only known you for a few minutes be he already liked you. A lot. You showed him every little thing and he found himself enjoying every bit of it. But at one point Scotty noticed some of the stabilizer levels fluctuating to the point he got slightly worried.

He pointed it out to you but you waved it away. You had already checked that several times. You credited it to a faulty indicator. But all the same, Scotty had you made a note to get it checked at the Starfleet station. You found it sweet he worried, so to appease him you did.

The two of you talked for hours before Captain Richards called for the two of you to meet him in his ready room to talk about getting the Enterprise fixed with the same get-up. Scotty made sure to stay by your side, liking the feeling of being around someone like him. You knew what you were talking about, your face would light up and you spoke really fast. Plus you looked good in red.

Scotty stood close to you as the last of the Enterprise crew filed into the somewhat small ready room. Captain Richards stood behind his desk, his hands behind his back as he surveyed the crew in front of him. He looked skeptically between you and Scotty before he addressed everyone.

"I hope the crew of the Enterprise was pleased with what they saw. As of now, you are to follow us back to the nearest Starfleet station and my crew will fit your ship with the new upgrades."

There was a collective murmur of excitement through the small group. You looked at Scotty and he gave you an excited grin. You gave him a thumbs up before your attention was brought back to your Uncle. He flashed the group a wide smile, motioning for everyone to quiet down.

"Your excitement may be slightly ill-timed. You have yet to go through the actual process and for my crew alone it took a while. But I wish you the best luck." Captain Richards nodded and turned to Captain Kirk, reaching out to shake his hand. "I will stay in contact. Let's hope you can keep up."

"I'm sure the Enterprise has one more good trip in her." Kirk smiled and chuckled good-naturedly with the older man before he nodded for his crew to follow him.

You and Scotty exchanged a look almost like you didn't want to be parted from each other. Before you could open your mouth to say something, Scotty caught up with Kirk. You watched as the Scotsman animatedly conversed with his captain. You were worried but when you saw a smile on his face your heart lifted.

Scotty bounded back over to you, taking your hands in his. The light in his eyes made you giggle. You leaned in close, keeping your voice low. "So what did your "father" say? Are you allowed to come over and play?"

He squeezed your hands lightly, leaning in as well. "As long as I get a few chores done first. I will beam over right before we take off. I want to see this girl at work." He gave you a wink making it hard to tell if he was talking about the engine.

"Good. Do be quick. She doesn't take long to warm up."

"Bless you, lass. I have found my equal."

You let out a loud snort, shaking your head. "Hardly."

"Mr. Scott, I do remember telling you AFTER you see to our ship. I would hate to think you are shirking your duties for a girl."

You giggled as Scotty winced playfully. "Not like he wouldn't do the same," he mumbled rolling his eyes. "Looks like "father" is calling. Don't worry, I'll be over soon."

You dropped his hands and pushed him on his way. "Good, now scoot!"

You went down your checklist to get everything ready. But the broken indicator kept bugging at the back of your mind. The look on Scotty's face as he looked it over gave you chills. Despite having looked at it several times before you dropped what you were doing and checked on it again.

And good thing you did too.

Your heart sank and your face blanched. The stabilizers were down and their fluctuations were off the chart. You ran around the engine room checking linked stations and other factors to see if you could correct it. But nothing could be done. You reached over to touch a pipe that was supposed to be cold but it burned you before you could set your hand on it. Without warning pipes beneath your feet started to pop and scream with pressure. There wasn't anything that could be done. The engine room was going to blow but you didn't know when or where. So you did the best thing you could.

"EVERYBODY OUT!!!" You yelled as you ran around the place, getting everyone out that you could as the ship started to shake with mini explosions.

You contacted your uncle and told him what was going on. "Please tell me there is a way to stop it from blowing the whole ship. Please tell me I didn't just kill us all," you practically whimpered.

"There is no use worrying about that now. I already have groups being beamed onto the Enterprise. Get yourself on that ship."

"I will see you there right?"

No answer. The ship shook again.

"Uncle. Please. I will see you on that ship!"

"Get to the transporter room."

And with that your com was off and tears were starting to form. The sound of more pipes overheating urged you to the small transporter room, your hands shaking as you navigated the now empty halls. You burst into the transporter room and turned to the officer who was putting everything on autorun as he got ready to beam with the last group.

"Did the Captian beam aboard?"

"I'm not sure ma'am. We are the last to leave."

You nod absentmindedly, looking back at the doors as you walked onto the pad. You closed your eyes as you felt the ship shake, tears starting to fall freely before the ship interior changed.

Scotty rushed to the transporter room and took over the console as soon as he saw the first small explosion. He was the one to beam the whole Majesty crew on board. Scotty grew increasingly worried the groups got increasingly smaller and there was no sign of you.

It was the engine room that exploded first and he knew exactly what caused it and that you would have been there. But he hoped you had the good sense to get out of there and fast.

But he hadn't seen Captain Richards and he knew you would wait for him. After beaming on the latest group he checked where you were and where the Captain was. Scotty let out a breath as he saw you in the transporter room with the last group. But he held down his happiness as he spotted your Uncle still in on the Majesty Bridge.

Scotty made a split second decision to remotely beam the Captian on board before you and the last group. Captain Richards was in shock as he materialized and was quickly ushered off the pad before Scotty beamed your group up.

Scotty searched the small group for your beautiful face and let out a small sigh when he spotted you. You blinked as you saw you were no longer on the Majesty, but it didn't take you long to get over it as you spotted your Uncle and Captian waiting for you off the beaming pad.

You rushed to him, tackling him with a hug.

"Don't you dare try to be heroic because of my stupidity."

Scotty stood off to the side to let you have your moment with your uncle. He watched as Captian Richard looked between Scotty and you, pointing to himself and then the pad. Scotty let himself smile as your face showed realization for what he did. Suddenly, he found himself surrounded by sweet perfume and oils while wrapped in your arms.

"Thank you so much, Scotty," you whispered to him, holding onto him tightly.

Scotty relished the feeling of you in his arms. "It was selfish really. He has the plans to the new upgrades."

You snorted as you let go enough to look at him. "Well thank you for being selfish. And maybe the upgrades are now in better hands here. I seem to have made a right mess of things."

Before Scotty could answer back Captain Kirk came over the coms unit. "Mr. Scotty now that we have the Majesty crew safely aboard do you think you and your girlfriend there could get the Enterprise up and running? We need to explain to Starfleet why we were in a rubble field of our friend's ship."

Scotty reddened at your title of 'girlfriend' as you just laughed. He looked down at you and wiped away a smudge of oil before leading you to the engine room. The redshirt Scotsman never really believed in love at first sight; that is until he saw you.
