Never Again- Kirk

"Jim Kirk, what do you think you are doing?"

You walk onto the Bridge to find everyone gone and the lights dimmed. You spot your blond headed Captain sitting on his chair looking out over the vast expanse of space. You stand behind him, placing your hand on his shoulder, giving it a slight squeeze. He reaches his hand up to cover yours, turning to look at you, a smile taking over his features.

"Hey you." Kirk whispers as he turns around. He stands up to his full height and you have to hold yourself back from swooning. Since the day that he asked you to be his girlfriend, you have fallen more in love with him every day.

"Hey you." You repeat back to him. He leans down and gives you a soft but urgent kiss on the lips, wrapping you in his arms. You kiss him back, not bothered at all by his sudden need to show affection.

Knowing Kirk, he is always one to show the world that you are his. But he has been distant as of late. You didn't mind much at first, but when he forgot your birthday you were contemplating on punching him in the throat the next time you saw him. Yet, when he asked you out for this evening in the most nervous voice and shaking hands, you dropped your anger and demurely agreed.

"I know you wanted to kill me for missing your birthday, and nothing is an excuse, but I wanted to make it up to you." Kirk took his hand and touched your face, moving a few hairs away from your eyes. He turns and shows you to The Chair. You gaped at him, placing a hand over your heart, feigning shock. He chuckled and you stepped forward to run your hands over the arm rests, turning your back to Kirk.

"My, my Captain. You are letting me sit in your chair? That's like handing me the Enterprise herself, the only girl I let you prioritize over me."

"Well..." you hear him clear his throat and nervously continue, "not...not anymore."

You spin around and fall into The Chair in surprise. There in front of you kneels the man of your dreams holding a ring box open, it shaking slightly. Tears formed in your eyes as your hand flew to your mouth. His eyes searched your eyes for an answer, but all you could do was shut them in hopes of controlling your emotions. You slowly open your eyes and about lost it when you saw his expression. Confused and worried, he looked back at you, anxiously waiting for your answer.

"So..." Jim nervously laughs, the smile not quite reaching his eyes.

You let out a happy squeak, throwing yourself at him. You wrap your arms around his neck, clinging onto him for dear life as you cried into his shoulder. He lets out a breath and chuckles as he held you tight. He moves his head to whisper into your ear, causing shivers to run through your body.

"So, you'll be my wife? My number one girl?"

"Of course, you dolt!"

You pull away and kiss him hard but lovingly as he rocked you back and forth. You felt tears fall onto your cheeks causing you to smile into the kiss. He pulls away, panting but smiling like a loon, he gently grabs your left hand and slips on a stunning ring. You laughed and hugged him again, tears freely flowing.

"Captain! They have turned their shields up."

"Kiepten, their phasors have locked on to us."

"Red Alert." Kirk hurriedly sat in the chair to contact his crew. "McCoy, be ready for injuries. Scotty, I'm going to need you to keep her fully functioning." He paused. Kirk thought about sending you a personal message to be safe, but he didn't want to worry you.

Spock rushed onto the Bridge, pulling along the prisoner who got them into this trap. "Captain, I have extracted more information from him, but he requested to see you."

"Great Spock, let's meet every wish the enemy demands of us."

"I would not recommend that logic to be seen through Captain."

"I was joking Spock."

"However, in this case, I believe complying with their wishes may benefit us from having to open fire."

Kirk looked sideways at his second in command and the scum of an alien smirking behind him. "Alright, I'm listening."

You rush onto the Bridge the moment Kirk did not answer your contacts. You come face to face with a stoic crew. Uhura is the first to move, slowly walking toward you, unshed tears making her eyes dance with worry. You tried to calm your breathing, but it suddenly became hard to do as you searched for your fiancé. Unbidden tears fell down your face as you slowly and silently walked to The Chair, touching the back of it, looking out into the expanse of empty space.

Sharply turning around, you look pointedly at each crew member that dared make eye contact. "Where is he? Where is my fiancé?"

"We don't know (Y/n)." Uhura stepped forward again, this time taking your hands in hers. "Jim and Spock took the prisoner to the mothership to negotiate. But we lost contact a while ago." She takes a breath and swallows, looking away for a few moments. "I am so sorry. We didn't want to contact you unless we were sure."

You stared at nothing in particular as you took in what your friend was saying. Gone? And so soon after being engaged too. Your glazed eyes blinked slowly, letting a few tears fall, as you numbly left the bridge to go back to your quarters. A heart-wrenching sob shook your body as your feet took you to your bed. No number of pillows or blankets could mask the sound of your heart breaking in two. How could he be so selfish, thinking he can go and risk his life like that? Shaking and tired, you tried your best to think that there may be some hope in him coming back, but it seems your body has other plans. You continued to cry for a bit while longer, almost making you sick. You don't answer when a knocking at your door made you jump.

"(Y/n)?" You hear Doctor McCoy's heavy steps walk in and stop at your bedroom door. He knocks softly, not wanting to frighten you. "(Y/n), we have some news." His southern voice sounded kind, but you didn't want to do anything, let alone have hope. But Bones didn't give up. "You may want to come with me."

Reluctantly, you sluggishly left the room, following Bones through the halls to the Transporter Room. You didn't care what you looked like and you didn't care what you were in there for, you just wanted your Jim back. And you really wanted to punch him in the throat.

"Lass! There ya are! It took a while but I think you will like what you will find." Scotty greeted you as you entered the room, hitting a few buttons to transport something in. Someone.

There, right in front of you, Jim freaking Kirk limped off of the beaming pad and into your open, shaking arms. You completely forgot your anger and frustration the moment you saw his not so perfect hair materialize. Bruises littered his face and several cuts laced across his arms and legs. But he hugged you tighter, holding you as close to him as he physically could.

"I am so sorry (Y/n)," Jim whispered into your ear as he kissed you lightly all over your face, "I had every intention of telling you..."

"Shut up." You practically growled as you kissed him hard yet carefully, not caring about the other officers in the room.

You held him close, running your fingers through his hair. Your arm pressed too hard on his side, causing him to flinch and let out a yelp of pain. You stop and apologize, but keep him close. You both stopped and watched as Uhura rushed into the room to have a similar reunion with Spock. You look over at your safely returned fiancé, taking his hand in yours as Bones lead the two leading officers and their women to the Med Bay to be examined.

Just before you both entered the room, you held Jim back. "You are positively the worst man alive." Kirk flinches dramatically, but then you smiled. "But you are my worst man." You then punch him in the arm, hard. "Don't you dare think about doing something like that again without telling me." He lets out a yelp but nods his head in acceptance.

"You got it, babe." You both enter the room. "Bones I am going to need you to look at my arm first." You smirk knowing that you and Kirk are going to be happy together, as happy as near death experiences allow.
