Love Story- Spock

Another Song-Fic! Hahaha, apparently I do alright with these. This one will be a bit different, kinda like an AU set in the 1800's. Kinda like the song. Hope you like it! coraline34

You smiled to yourself as you rested your gloved hands in your lap, your lavish white dress rustling with your movement. Your father stood not too far away talking with the yellow coated captain of his exploration flagship, Captain James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise. You thought it would be too much trouble and work to host a three-week house party for the naval officers, but you were finding it to be quite amusing. The throngs of beautifully dressed people and lovely music could only lift your spirits and give you encouragement.

As the admiral's daughter, your father wished for you to be a part of everything at the house party and to interact with all the officers. But the one thing you wished to do you were to never be allowed to even think about; joining them on their five-year voyage around the world. You were patiently waiting to speak with the first woman officer, Lady Lieutenant Nyota Uhura, in hopes of learning how to become a naval officer yourself.

You had been secretly training yourself to the best of your ability while your father remained oblivious. You read books from ship stations to what to do if you were captured by rogue Klingons. You stayed up late practicing combat in the gardens and sword fighting behind the stables. You rode your horse every day in the most unladylike manner, fast and not sidesaddle. You even practiced dressing like a man in case you needed to sneak your way in. Though you hoped it wouldn't come to that.

You glanced up in hopes of spying the Lady Lieutenant's vibrant red dress but your eyes never made it past a pair of eyes staring at you from a balcony doorway. They were a deep brown, warm and inviting yet critical and calculating. The man they belonged to you had only dreamt of meeting again. Commander Spock stood before you in his blue uniform, his hands clasped behind him, his dark hair expertly placed save for a single strand by his temple. A head rose to your cheeks as you looked away.

You had met the Commander one other time and you were sure he too thought of it as your gaze met. As it happens it hard to forget to see a woman in nothing but her stays and undergarments as she clumsily decapitated a straw dummy. But thankfully, he said nothing of it as he visited for a few days before being reassigned. He was kind and seemed to enjoy your company, before and after what he witnessed.

It was three years ago but it burned in your memory like yesterday. Thankfully, your skills with the sword have improved since then but you weren't about to prove that to him, though internally you wished to show him your improvements. Only if it were to help you join them would you reenact that moment.

Once you were sure your blush was gone, you glanced back up relieved to find him now talking to your father. A flash of red caught your eye and you stood, hurrying over to the Lieutenant hoping to use her as a distraction from your memory. She smiled at you when you approached her, a knowing look passing over her face, disappearing just as fast as it appeared.

In hushed tones, you confided in her with much urgency your wish to be like her and join the fleet. Her smile grew and she looked behind you. You followed her gaze to your father and the Commander talking just a few paces away. Your father caught your eye and frowned, making your heart drop in confusion. But Uhura's voice brought you back to the mission at hand.

"I suggest you speak with Commander Spock. He helped me when I joined." You must have shown the dismay you felt at his name and she gave you a sweet smile. "Fear not. We are in no way involved. Well, not any longer. "

You opened your mouth to correct her assumption at your dismay but she shook her head kindly as she nudged you in the Commander's direction. A new song was starting and before you could say 'row me back' the man in conversation stood before you, his hand awaiting yours.

"Lady (L/n). May I ask for your hand in this dance?"

You could only nod as he gently took your hand in his. Heat started at your fingertips and reached your neck and ears in no time. You avoided his gaze until you were in is arms. It wasn't until the music started that you realized it was a Waltz and that meant close proximity the whole time. Therefore you spoke.

"I was told you could help me."

His sharply trimmed brows rose in curiosity. You didn't give him a moment to reply before you plowed forward, taking care to look everywhere but at his face. His sharp features mixed with his warm emotional eyes made it difficult to concentrate on the matter at hand. It was a miracle you could dance at all.

"I wish to join the crew of the USS Enterprise. I know of my father's objections but I have been training and learning as much as I can on my own. Lady Lieutenant Uhura adviced me come speak to you. Now is as good a time as any to use any means necessary to persuade the senior officers to accept me before I became a complete disgrace to my father." You let out a breath and finally gazed up at his face as he turned you about the room. Your voice lowered as you begged with your eyes. "Please say you will help me."

Your heart raced as he glided his eyes over you as if trying to see if you were telling the truth. Your cheeks warmed at the silence and the possibility that he was thinking about that time three years ago. Your thoughts were confirmed when one side of his mouth lifted in an amused grin.

"I have no doubt your skills are more than satisfactory having been given three years to improve." His smooth voice had a lot to do with the heat pricking your ears. You opened your mouth to reply but he successfully quieted your thoughts and set your heart racing as he pulled you closer, whispering in your ear. "I find it amusing I was just speaking to your father about you."

You stiffened in his arms and he let out a humorous breath as he continued to dance you expertly around the others. But the song was coming to an end.

"Your secret is and forever will be safe with me. Although, I have surmised that your father is not too keen about the commanding officer of his flagship asking about his daughter."

He pulled away and bowed at the end of the song. You just stared at him as he bowed over your hand, kissing it ever so lightly you questioned it even happened. He glanced up at you and whispered.

"Meet me at the stables at dawn day after next."

He tucked your hand in his arm as he lead you back to your father, but he leaned in one last time before leaving you.

"I assume I do not need to remind you to keep this to yourself, but I fear the excitement in your eyes will remain and only grow by tomorrow." He did his small grin again before bowing to you and leaving you with your father.

You watched him go, placing a hand on your middle as if hoping to keep your butterflies at bay. Perhaps you may be excited to join the Enterprise crew but to meet with the surprisingly amiable Commander.

For the rest of that week and part way into the next, you had been successful in meeting the Commander each morning. Training and planning both legal and unconventional ways to bypass your father's paternal reluctance to let you join. The captain and Lady Lieutenant joined a few times but only ever to make sure you were both on the right track and to keep them informed.

But one morning you slipped. You stayed longer than usual with the Commander, the two of you talking about nothing in particular. Neither of you were aware how close you stood to each other. But you were aware of his casual attire, his mussed hair, his relaxed stance and his eyes traveling to your lips on more than one occasion. Spock had just finished telling you about the time the ship's doctor was left to captain the crew while he and the captain were rowing as fast as they could in a small dingy boat to catch up with the ship after being presumed dead from a terribly planned mission.

You laughed and smiled, resting your hand on his. You both grow quiet, the growing attraction over the days slowly pulling the two of you closer. Spock reached up and stroked your cheek, sending pleasant shivers down your back.

"(Y/n), I fear your father may disapprove."

"You and I both know this. What admiral wants their only daughter on an exploration-"

He smirked slightly. "Let me clarify. He may disapprove of this." And he kissed you.

Lightly at first but he pulled you to him, his arms wrapping around you protectively as your lips explored his. The words of your father telling you to stay clear of making any attachments at this party became nothing more than a challenge as you lost yourself in Spock's kiss. In desperate need of air, you pulled away from him and smiled. He pressed a kiss to your forehead but suddenly dropped his arms from around you.

You were about to question him but you were soon answered by the loud shouts of your father coming from behind you.

"(Y/n)! I have neve been more disappointed in my life!"

You turned, shoulder to shoulder with the Commander. Your father stomped toward you, anger making his face red and his eyes wide. You stood up straight and lifted your chin.

"I would apologize, but I have been taught from a young age not to lie."

The fuming admiral stood before you, pointing his finger. "As you were with respecting not only your parents but yourself. And you! Must I tell you again to stay away from my-" He turned to Spock but you intervened.

"He is a commanding officer and has been lead on my me. Spare him your anger and let him alone. I am the one who deserves your words of reprimand, not him." You stepped away from them, touching Spock's arm in passing. "Breakfast will get cold. Father, I suggest you make your way back, I will join you shortly."

And without a second glance, you turned to the house and walked as confidently as you could. Though tears threatened to fall as to began to come to terms with the strong possibility that you will never board a ship again. Or see the Commander who stole your heart.

Spock watched you go, his emotions battling between pride and indignation. The Admiral followed after you but he had lost his anger, perhaps due to your strong words and commanding air. Spock took off after him, hoping to remedy the fate he feared you would meet once the house party was over.

"Sir. If I may."

The Admiral glanced at him. "What Spock?"

"I must confess I had planned on helping her join the fleet. But I had not planned on falling in love with her. As pleasant a feeling as it is, I wish to as you to think not of your honor or the statutes of the fleet but as a father thinking of the happiness of his daughter."

The Admiral stopped, turning to face Spock. "Do you question my judgment of my own daughter's fate and happiness?"

"Only because she has resorted to secrecy to achieve what she dreamed of for much longer than you may know."

"How long as my daughter wanted to join the Enterprise?"

Spock almost smiled at the memory of seeing your sweat stained clothes and damp hair as he watched you attempt to fight off imaginary enemies. "At least three years. Sir, I implore you to rethink your plans for your daughter's life."

The Admiral stood there, quietly thinking before nodding ever so slightly. "Come. I wish to know everything that you have taught her, all that she knows. I dare say I do not wish to be the reason she is ever unhappy."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You stood out on the balcony Spock had stood just three weeks ago. With the house party ending tonight, a grand ball was in full swing. But you had lost your amusement for it the morning your father found you in the arms of the Commander. You sighed as you listened to the music drifting out to join you, the stars glinting brightly with the full moon.
Spock had become distant after that morning aswell. Though he was never unkind afterward, he was never as toward with his feelings as he once was before. So it came as a surprise to suddenly find him standing beside you, though he was just out of arm's reach. But his voice carried well, still giving you warm shivers through your chest.
"I hope you have a dress picked out. Most women do for their marriage."
You nearly scoffed. "That would be none of your business seeing as how I am not spoken for neither being pursued."
But he seemed to ignore you. "Red will suit you quite nicely. Though I suggest you invest in some men's clothes, they tend to be useful when exploring new lands."
You glanced at him only to find him almost beaming at you. Though his face was still his eyes crinkled and danced with mirth. You took a step closer to him.
"Red? A red dress and some men's clothing." You took another step. "Is this your way of asking for my hand Commander, whilst telling me you have somehow convinced my father to let me join your ship?"
Spock turned to you fully, reaching out to take one of your hands. "I too have been taught from a young age not to lie."
You shook your head and rested a hand on his chest. "How?" You whispered, "How did you convince him?"
Spock took a step closer. "He was more inclined to let you join if he knew you were to be looked after your husband. And I assure you, you will be well looked after. I fear you will despise me after not yet a whole year of constantly being in my presence on such a ship."
You let out the most unladylike yelp of excitement as you flung your arms around his neck and buried your face in his neck. Not caring about the audience you two most definitely had, Spock held you close and kissed what parts of your face he could reach as he whispered against your skin.
"Welcome to the crew, Ensign (Y/n) Spock."
As it turns out there really was a Navy ship in the 1800's: USS Enterprise 1799, a sailing vessel that fired the first shots in the First Barbary War.
And no I'm not sorry it's on the long side. OH!!! Reminder! This book will be completed the moment it hits 100 chapters. As much as I want to truly finish it to 200 I honestly have so much more to write about with other things that I need to move on to. But not to worry! If I ever wake in the night with an ST idea (it has been known to happen) I will post it. Until then, ENJOY!
